Thief of the Heart

Page 22

by M. J. Williamz

“It’s easier to tell you what I don’t like. While your mouth on me would feel amazing, you need to know it won’t make me climax.”

“But it’s okay if I taste you?”

“You can do whatever you’d like, lover.”

Savannah’s heart soared. Even as her stomach tightened with nerves. She wanted to make Kit feel good. What if Savannah couldn’t do that? It had been a very long time since she’d pleased a woman. What if she forgot how?

  “You okay, babe?” Kit said.

  Savannah nodded.

“Yes. Just a little overwhelmed. I don’t even know where to start.”

“I think you should start by kissing me. Then go from there. Do what feels right. Do what feels natural.”

“What if I can’t make you feel good?”

“Oh, sweetheart. That’s not going to happen.”

Savannah was still filled with trepidation. But she needed to try. She pushed her nerves aside and kissed Kit. When their tongues met, all fear dissipated. She lost herself in the kiss and eventually ran her hand over Kit’s body. Kit moaned into Savannah’s mouth. Emboldened, Savannah brought her hand to a stop at Kit’s small, firm breasts. She pinched and tugged on one nipple and then the other.

“Oh, my God. That feels so good,” Kit groaned.

Savannah smiled as she ran her hand down to where Kit’s legs met. She was so soft and warm. And wet. Dear God, Savannah couldn’t believe how wet she was.

“You’re so ready for me,” Savannah said.

“Always, babe. I’m always ready for you.”

Savannah slid her fingers deep inside Kit and Kit arched off the bed to take her deeper. Savannah stroked Kit’s walls then began plunging in and out. Kit thrashed her head on the pillow and Savannah knew she was close. She ran her thumb across Kit’s clit then pressed into it, making slow circles.

  “I’m gonna come,” Kit growled.

“Please do. Let me know how good I make you feel.”

“Yes.” Then Kit let out a guttural moan as she rode her orgasm. Savannah slowly and gently removed her fingers then lay next to Kit, whose eyes were at half mast.

“I love you, Kit,” Savannah whispered.

“Thank God. I didn’t think you were ever going to tell me.”

“I think I’ve been in love with you for a while now. Saying good-bye to you was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.”

“It sure sucked for me, too. But we’ll never have to say good-bye again, my love. Never.”

  Savannah’s phone rang again.

  “Who keeps calling me?”

  “Ignore it.”

“I will. But if they call again I might answer it.”

  “Fair enough.”

“So how are we going to work this?” Savannah said.

  “Work what?”

“You live in California. I live here. That poses a bit of a problem, don’t you think?”

Kit propped herself on an elbow and looked into Savannah’s eyes.

  “Why is that a problem?”

“You mean you want to have a long-distance relationship?”

“Hell no. I couldn’t handle being away from you.”

  “So then what?”

“We spend part of the year here and part on my ranch.”

  “Seriously?”

“Sure. Unless you have a better idea.”

“Not really. It will be nice to spend our winters in California.”

“Indeed. No snow or bitter cold there.”

“You make me so happy, Kit.”

  “Right back at you.”

The shrill ringing of her phone again made Savannah jump.

“Let me just see who it is,” she said.

  “Fair enough.”

Savannah checked her phone. Li. Why was he calling her? What could he want?

“Do you mind if I answer it?”

  “Go for it.”

  Savannah picked up her phone.

  “Hello?”

“Boss? It’s Li. Where have you been? I’ve been trying to reach you.”

“Sorry. I was busy. What’s up?”

“We got him, Savannah,” Li said.

  “Who?” She sat up straighter.

“The jewel thief. We caught him red-handed in Atlantic City.”

Savannah unconsciously cast a glance over her shoulder at Kit.

  “You did? That’s fantastic.”

“So far he’s only copped to one robbery but we’re trying to pin the rest on him. It’s just a matter of proving he was at all the other casinos. Should be easy enough.”

“Well, good job, Li. I’m happy for you.”

“Thanks. I’ll let you go now. I’ll keep you posted by text.”

“That would be great. Take care, Li.”

  “You too, boss.”

She set the phone down and lay back down next to Kit.

  “Who was that?”

“The guy they placed in charge of the investigation they pulled me from.”

  “Yeah? What did he want?”

“They caught the jewel thief, Kit.” Relief coursed through Savannah’s body. She fought not to cry happy tears.

  Kit arched an eyebrow.

“They did? That’s great, babe. Even though you’re not part of the team, that has to feel good.”

  “You have no idea.”

  Kit laughed.

“Well, I’m happy for you. Who was it?”

“Some guy. I don’t know the details. They caught him with the jewels though. In Atlantic City. Oh, Kit. You have no idea how happy this makes me. We should celebrate.”

“Lay back, babe. I know just how I want to celebrate.”

Savannah smiled up at Kit, joy coursing through her body. It wasn’t Kit. It had never been Kit. She could put her suspicions aside and begin her life of love.

Kit took Savannah to places she’d never dreamed she’d go. She came over and over again and finally lay content in Kit’s arms.

“We should talk about our wedding,” Savannah said.

  Kit chuckled.

“You sure you don’t want to sleep for a while?”

“I’m too excited to sleep. Where should we get married?”

Kit lay on her back, hands folded behind her head, and looked up at Savannah.

  “Anywhere you want, babe.”

“I’d love to get married here. But a wedding on a ranch sounds so romantic.”

“You’re going to love my ranch. But you know what else sounds romantic?”

  “What?”

  “A wedding on the beach.”

  “Where?”

“In California. Or anywhere in the world, babe. Dream big. Anything you want, if it’s in my power, I’ll give it to you.”

“What would I do without you, Kit?”

“That, my love, you’ll never have to worry about again.”
