"He has a place on Lake Shore Drive. He's not after my money."
"Then why did he ask you about selling." She countered.
Chris sighed and dropped his head. He had to admit Jessie was right to scrutinize. "I haven't the faintest idea."
Jessie eyed him. "Well, that's all the more reason to watch yourself, honey. That's all I'm saying.
"I will, but I don't need you to check up on anything, all right? If something happens in the interim you can call me stupid, but right now, I don't see any reason to panic."
With a lot on his mind, Andre trudged his way into the office. He knew it was ludicrous to walk into his boss's office and demand something with so much on the line, but everything in his mind told him to go for it.
After saying hello to a few fellow colleagues, he approached Latasha's office. Nervous energy ran through his veins and he straightened his tie, ready to make his way in. Latasha wouldn't be happy about his snap decision, but Andre didn't care. It was time to take matters into his own hands and choose love over the material things.
Here goes nothing.
Andre took a deep breath and softly knocked on Latasha's door. His hands felt clammy and the sweat beaded on his brow as he waited for Latasha's answer.
"Who is it?"
"It's Andre. Can I come in?"
"Just the person I wanna see."
Andre walked in, making his way to her desk. Once he arrived, he dropped the folder on top of it and eyed her. "I'm out of this project."
Latasha turned it around and she looked up at him, frowning. Hearing those words, Andre could tell she was only seconds from blowing up. "I'm sorry?"
"You heard me. I can't do this. I'm not doing this. I don't care what you do to me. I'm not gonna talk Chris into selling his business."
Latasha made a face. "Andre. You promised me--"
"Well, I'm breaking it. I can't do this to him. Not now, not ever. He isn't going to sell and quite frankly, I don't want him to because that place is a big part of his life."
"Andre! You've known this guy less than five days--"
"Doesn't matter, Latasha. I'm falling for him, real fast."
"You're in love with him?"
Andre sighed, shrugging, "I don't think I'd go that far just yet, but I definitely like him. A lot."
Latasha clicked her teeth. "Oh, for Pete's sake, Andre, you have a job to do. A part of me is happy about you finding the right guy, but when it interferes with our business, it's a problem. I know you love that place and that car..."
"Take it away. I don't care!" Andre shifted on his heel, walking towards the door.
"What the hell, Andre! You can't just decide to drop something when I, your boss, want you to do it."
"Yeah, I can. Tell my brother to call me when he gets back. I'm going home for the day."
"Andre! Andre!"
Andre continued out, ignoring her calls. After pulling the door to a close, he leaned against it, inhaling deeply. His heart was beating a mile a minute, so fast he heard it in his ears. Although defying Latasha and jumping into everything with Chris so quickly was a big risk, Andre knew he'd be happier because of it. He'd made up his mind after having breakfast with his new lover that he couldn't carry on this charade any longer. Bottom line, Andre wanted to explore the possibilities of a future with him and he couldn't do that with secrets. Now that he'd given this up, they could proceed and learn more about each other, hopefully achieving that happiness they both wanted.
Though he loved working for the company, he wouldn't go through with the ploy to force Chris to sell. He cared way too much and despite all the money he'd made from DD&G, it wasn't enough to wreck what he could have with Chris Wettlon.
When he finally got his bearings, Andre walked towards his office on the right side of the hall. He thrust both hands into his pockets, thinking what his next move would be if Latasha went through with her threat. He could always get another job or maybe he and Chris could run Rainbow Brew together. Who knew, but Andre was sure there were better options that wouldn't challenge how he felt for Chris.
As he opened his door, he could feel the secretary's and account manager's eyes on him. Surely they had to hear the heated conversation, but really Andre could care less about what anyone thought of him at this point.
"Hey Andre."
Hearing his brother's greeting startled him. He wiped his brow and turned around, trying not to look too flustered.
"Oh hey, bro." Andre accepted his brother, Rick's handshake. "How was your trip?"
"It was real good. How's the potential takeover going?"
Andre grimaced and swallowed hard. He knew Latasha would tell her husband that everything was a no go but Andre felt better saying it himself. "Hey bro, can we talk a second?"
The account manager and the secretary got quiet.
"Sure, man. Let's go into my office after I see my--" Rick was about to turn around.
Andre grabbed his arm. "No, no, Rick. It has to be said now before I lose my nerve."
"What?" Rick cocked an eyebrow.
"Just, go on to my office and let's chat." Andre waved his hand ahead towards his office.
"All right." Rick walked in first.
Andre closed the door behind him and exhaled. "Rick, I can't do this takeover."
Rick took the seat at Andre's desk. "Rainbow Brew?"
"Yeah. I started seeing Chris, and he's ... he's great. I can't do this to him, and besides, he's not letting this place go regardless of what I say or do."
"You're that enamored already? You've only been seeing the guy ..."
Andre ran his hand over his head. "I know, I know. A few days, but sometimes you just feel that person is the one. I feel it in my bones. I knew the first time we met he was my soulmate. And I don't care what you do. Take the car, the condo--"
"What?" Rick laughed, incredulous and shook his head. "Why would I take what you've already earned? You've done more than above and beyond the call of a personal assistant."
"Well, Latasha made it seem like everything I've worked for depended on this deal."
"Pssh. That woman I married is quite the tigress, but no. Everything you did, you earned fair and square. I wouldn't allow that to happen, bro. You're a good guy. After the way our folks treated you, you deserve all that and more."
Andre sighed when Rick mentioned their parents.
Rick walked closer to Andre. He continued. "Listen, I put you here to give you a direction, a new career, and I'm glad I did because you were stuck in so many dead end situations after you left college. Honestly, it was Latasha's idea to start using you as sort of, an escort with some of our clients. I only went along with it because you didn't seem to care."
"I didn't, until I met Chris."
"Well, I'm glad to see that change. It does my heart good to see you're finally giving love a chance. I was worried you'd never let anyone in."
"I wasn't but, with Chris, that's all changed."
"It's all good then, Dre. You do what you gotta do to make him part of this family. I'm looking forward to seeing my little brother in love with someone."
Andre slapped hands with him. He was relieved that Rick understood. "Thanks, man. I mean, I love working here, but, I couldn't continue on with the job knowing how I feel about Chris."
"Eh, we have more than enough at this point. We've got five coffee shops we're about to convert in the next six months. Rainbow Brew would've been nice, but we're more than okay without it. And don't worry about Latasha. She has the same tenacity as her dad did, but I know how to tame her."
"Whoa, TMI," Andre laughed. "Thanks again, man."
"You're welcome, bro." He held out his arms. "Brothers?"
Andre accepted the hug and patted him on the back.
Rick returned the hug then pulled away, looking him in the eye. "Now. Since Chris will probably end up becoming a member of this family I gotta know where his allegiance lies. Blue and Red or White and Black?"
Andre chuckled, knowin
g that sports and business would make Rick and Chris the best of friends. "He bleeds blue and Red, all the way through!"
Rick bowed his head with a smile. "Ha ha, I knew he was a smart guy. Someday we all gotta take in a game."
"Yes, we do, bro. We most certainly do."
Chapter Nine
"And, here we are. I got dinner on its way. Been kind of a rough one for me at the office, but I promise you, one day, I'll cook you a meal." Andre waved Chris into his apartment.
Chris smiled. "Ah, it's no big deal. I know you'll have plenty of chances to wow me with your culinary skills. Besides, I have the perfect way you can make it up to me."
"And that would be?" Andre's voice tone dropped.
Chris licked his lips and his eyes met Andre's brown gaze. He walked over to Andre and took his hands into his own. "You can let me fuck you like I was supposed to yesterday."
"Oh, that was already a given, babe. What else did you have in mind?" Andre released Chris's hands, opting for his waist instead.
"Hmm, I can come up with some other things, afterwards I'm sure." Chris kissed his lips hard and pressed his forehead against Andre's. "Everything good at your job, right? I hope they're not giving you a hard time."
"No, no, um... not at all. It's just stressful."
"You know, we've never talked about exactly what you do and where you work. I know you told me personal assistant but, for what company?"
Andre leaned into Chris's body and sighed heavily. He seemed hesitant about answering the question. "I ... I do all kinds of things for--"
"For who? You're a personal assistant to the President? Are you a spy," Chris laughed. "I'm your lover, Andre, you can[?]"
Andre moved back, looking pensive. "DD&G."
Chris's joking smile immediately turned upside down. "DD&G? As in the Delicious Donuts Holding Corp."
Andre shrugged. "Yeah, but..."
"Oh, so that's why you've been so secretive about telling me where you work. And now I see why you tried to convince me to sell my shop."
"Yeah, but--"
Chris's heart pounded in his chest, hampering his breath. He shook his head, feeling the anger rise in his gut. It took everything he had not to punch this man.
I should've listened to Jessie!
No, no, Jessie is the one who told me to follow my lust, right?
I'm so damn stupid!
"So, is that what all this is for, Andre? You're dating me so they can buy me out?"
"That was the deal at first, but it isn't like that anymore, Chris. I swear to you!" Andre walked closer.
"Don't come near me!" Chris pushed him backwards and dropped his head. He gritted his teeth and his blood boiled knowing he'd almost been tricked. "Oh God, I'm so stupid. I was so clueless to think that you might be into me, just because of me. And damn ..." Chris bit on his bottom lip until it nearly bled. He grimaced from the pain. "I'm falling for you."
"Chris..." Andre took another step.
"No, no, I said, don't come any closer! Just ... just don't call me, ever again, all right? And you tell those assholes at DD&G, I ... will ... never ... sell! Ever!" Chris turned around, heading for the door.
"Chris, no, please, hear me out. I told them that. When I said I had a rough day at the office, I was talking about what happened earlier. I had an argument with my brother's wife and then, thank Christ my brother came back from his trip and we sorted it all out."
Chris stopped in his tracks, with his hand tightly gripping the doorknob. "Sorted all what out?"
"I told them there was no possible way I could go through with this. My sister-in-law threatened me, but my brother saved the day. I knew how much this meant you to you and damnit Chris, I'm falling for you, too. I don't care whatever else is going on around us. All I care about is being your man."
Chris softened up after hearing those words and exhaled deeply. "How do I know you're telling the truth, hmm? How do I know this isn't another attempt to get me to sell?"
"Please believe me. I swear to you, I mean every word. I've been wracking my brain on how to tell you this whole time. Since the first time we met, I knew I couldn't do this. At first, I thought it was just silliness, but the more time we talked at dinner, then we made love. All that assured me it was more than just simple attraction. I want this to work between us, Chris. I want you and only you."
Chris closed his eyes and leaned his head against the door. A part of him wanted to walk away and tell Andre to go to hell while the other desired to be in Andre's arms.
Andre's footsteps got louder against the hardwood and in moments, his arms encircled Chris's waist. He yanked Chris into him from behind and lightly kissed his cheek. "Whatever I have to do to prove how much I want you I'll do it."
Chris opened his eyes quickly and let go of the door. "Oh yeah?"
"Yeah." Andre whispered in his ear and nibbled on his earlobe.
From Andre's statement, Chris figured he meant anything to prove his worth. With that kind of affirmation, he decided to make this man bend at his will. Although what he wanted to do was totally out of character, Chris wished to make one of his wildest fantasies come true.
Give lust a chance.
Jessie's commanding voice sounded in his head like a loud alarm.
Why not do something extra to make this man weak?
Chris took one of Andre's hands and pulled it up to his lips. Despite his anger, he couldn't help but desire this man. "I could use some help making tomorrow's batch you know."
"Right now?"
"Yeah. It's a bit early but, it's a special batch that needs extra preparation time." Chris shifted around in Andre's arms. "Are you up for it?"
Andre smiled sweetly and chuckled. "Sure, as long as it ends up with us horizontal a lot sooner than later, I'm all in."
Chris smirked and quickly pecked Andre's lips. "Oh, it will, baby. It most certainly will."
Chapter Ten
Andre quickly drove Chris to his shop. He wasn't sure what his new lover was up to, but, it didn't matter.
The secret about his employer was out and Chris seemed to believe he no longer wanted to try convincing him to sell his business. With the air completely clear, Andre hoped they could move on with their evening.
"And we're here." Andre reached over and palmed Chris's chin. He rubbed his thumb over his bottom lip, tracing it thoroughly.
"Yes we are." Chris licked and sucked it into his mouth. "Come on inside. We've got a lot of work to do." Chris opened the door and hopped out.
Andre did the same and followed Chris to the front door. As per usual, he watched his man's ass move in the snug trousers while he walked.
"Stop checking out my behind and come on. I'm on a very tight schedule." Chris smirked and waved Andre ahead of him.
Andre strode inside. "We got most of the night, don't we? Don't you come in really early to make the first batches?"
"Yes, but I'm trying something new." Chris pointed to the small door at the counter.
"Okay." Andre yelped when Chris slapped his backside, but he didn't complain because the sting was arousing. After all, he deserved it for almost ruining the best thing that ever happen to him.
"That's for asking so many damn questions. You're not allowed to after deliberately keeping things from me." Chris's tone was even and terse.
Andre turned around and eyed Chris glaring at him from the door of the kitchen. "Babe."
"Don't babe me. You've got a lot of making up to do so I suggest you listen and don't balk. Now, strip for me and do it slow. I wanna enjoy this." His lips curled into a snarl.
Andre flashed him a sly grin and yanked his shirt over his head. He dropped it on the floor.
"Show me how much you enjoy your body, Andre. Touch yourself."
"Oh, you wanna be kinky, hmm?" Andre did as commanded, caressing his own upper torso, paying more attention to his nipples. He bit his own bottom lip when they hardened under his own fingers.
"I didn't tell you to talk. Shut up and
strip! I wanna see more skin." Chris barked.
Andre laughed as he unbuckled his belt and slid it through the holes in his pants. He tossed that in the same pile with his shirt. When his hand was free, Andre loosened his trousers and shoved them away from his waist. His cock was rock hard. He couldn't wait to see what else Chris had in store for them. Andre groaned and leaned his head back. He stepped out of his loafers and kicked his slacks aside. With one hand, he rubbed his stiff erection while the other toyed with the tight skin on his chest. His pulse quickened and his breath hitched. If this kept up much longer, Andre wasn't sure he would last.
"What are you waiting on, Dre. Off with the boxer briefs!"
"I love it when you're forceful." Andre moved his hand down to the waistband of his underwear. In one swoop, they were around his ankles and he bent down, removing those and his socks, kicking them into the pile of clothes. The chill ran over his body, causing goose bumps to form on his flesh. He ran his hand over his dick, palming his balls and running his thumb over the moist head.
"Chris, please. Whatever way you're gonna punish me." Andre closed his eyes, swiping his tongue over his lips. The more he touched himself, the harder it was to keep the climax at bay.
"Ooh, I love it when you beg." Chris walked past Andre without touching him.
"Is it getting us any closer to be horizontal?" Andre stopped handling his cock but continued to rub his chest.
"More like, vertical," Chris answered.
The sound of the fridge door caused Andre to jump. He grimaced from the feeling in his groin. "Huh?"
"Stand over by the stainless steel counter." Chris ordered.
Andre stepped forward. He sucked in a breath as he crossed the cold floor tiles with his bare feet.
Chris's hands came into view. He placed the bowl in front of Andre. "Put your hands in there."
"What are you up to?"
"Just put your hands in the dough as I said. No lip."
Andre shrugged, noticing Chris's black necktie slipping around his wrists. He smiled wryly and leaned back against his lover's body. The soft fabric from Chris's clothes caused the adrenaline to surge through his veins straight to his cock.
