  Azuric weapons;

Azuric or genome-related abilities pertinent to Enchanters.

Elementals look similar to Voids, often assuming the shape of a large phantom medusa or an enormous glowing sphere. Their A-energy allows them to control material objects and powers of nature such as water, fire, or wind. These are highly dangerous beings capable of causing a tornado, a flood or a large fire. Occasionally, Elementals can form rather weird swarm-like communities which can migrate unpredictably. Their main habitat is at the very center of A-zones. Sightings of them outside of A-zones are extremely rare. Destroying an Elemental can become a challenge even for an Incarnator group. They correspond to warning level Yellow. According to our studies, they’re capable of regenerating by absorbing A-radiation, which is why it is advised to use long-range Azuric abilities and abstain from engaging with them in areas of high concentration of Azure.

Golem is a derivative creature made of inert matter brought to life by untamed A-energy. Golems can differ greatly in their properties and appearance and can only be sighted near the sites of powerful outbreaks of Azure, usually in the zones of close contact with the Edge following a recent Outbreak, or during Transmutation Storms. Classing them with Energents is a bit of a stretch because they’re quite material: in some cases, they can assume one of the main states of matter, such as gas, plasma or liquid.

Golems can present extreme danger due to their colossal size and unpredictable behavior. Normally, they’re short-lived, crumbling apart or losing their initial shape as the energy they’re comprised of begins to disperse. Still, they can exist for a considerable amount of time in places of high concentration of Azure.

If you encounter a Golem, it is advised to retreat without engaging to the farthest possible distance. If retreat is not possible for some reason, you need to try and destroy the Golem’s material membrane using an appropriate weapon.

Monads are an extremely rare type of A-energents, also called “messengers of the Edge”.

Monads are often confused with other Azuric entities from over the Edge, but their only similarity is in their ethereal nature. Their origins have nothing in common: while other A-entities such as the Fiend or the Ahriman were made up of animas of sentient creatures while still behind the Edge, the Monad is pure A-energy in the process of gaining self-awareness.

Monads are similar to Voids, although much bigger in size and capable of evolving. They’re speculated to be able to assume any illusory shape. The full extent of their properties hasn’t been sufficiently studied although they’re hypothesized to be capable of psionic control, as well as control of material objects and forces of Nature.

The main difference distinguishing Monads from other A-Energents is in their self-awareness and ability to communicate. The causes of this phenomenon remain unknown as our records contain only three documented encounters with this type of creature. The most well-known case is that of Sophia, the ethereal assistant of Incarnator Iskandar. The other two records were classified by Stellar’s Archives.

Excerpts from the surviving communications between Mission Control Center and the Star Fleet pertaining to the period between the arrival of the object known as the Black Moon and the Impact.

  DAY ONE

  Urgent message!

  Titan to Mission Control

“...perfectly spherical in shape. The object is 1,200 miles in diameter. The propulsion mode it uses remains unidentified: presumably, A-space. A most incredible spike in A-radiation levels was detected at its exit point. I propose assigning a code name to this unidentified Azuric object and refer to it henceforth as the Black Moon.”

Signed: Nico Butler, Station Commander of Eluna 3 reporting from Titan.

  DAY TWO

  Titan to Mission Control

“We’ve lost communications with the group of unmanned research probes sent out to the object code name Black Moon. Signal was lost at a distance of 1,700 to 1,900 miles. I’m not convinced that the probes still exist. The object changed its speed and trajectory twice, suggesting it coming within dangerous distance of Titan. The gravitational field of an object of its size threatens to exceed the Roche limit in which case a catastrophe is unavoidable. I request urgent evacuation of all personnel on all orbital and ground stations.”

Signed: Nico Butler, Station Commander of Eluna 3 reporting from Titan.

  DAY THREE

  Marduk to Mission Control

“Soon after the object Black Moon had passed through the orbit of Titan, we lost communications with Eluna 3, Eluna 4 and all of Titan’s ground bases. Titan’s emergency evacuation wasn’t complete. We have no information about the personnel’s fate.

“All attempts of our unmanned probes and crew vehicles to approach the object Black Moon have failed. I’ve been observing abnormal malfunctions in the functioning of our cogitors. The crew’s behavior has become erratic. All of our equipment is down due to the effects of A-energy. There’s no way we can estimate the power of the object’s Azuric halo. The fate of our pilots is unknown.”

Personal note: I suggest you take a look at the object’s stop-motion footage. It doesn’t look good, whatever it is.

Signed: Jain McCaffrey, Captain of Star Fleet, Coordinator of Marduk Emergency Response Unit.

  DAY FOUR

  Star Fleet to Mission Control

“The approach of the object known as Black Moon has resulted in the loss of communications with the Martian colonies. Neither Marduk nor Ringworld reply to our queries. Our visual observations confirm a catastrophe on a global scale. Emergency evacuation of civilian population is not feasible.”

Confidential: Attached please find the copies of distress messages, telemetry data, Ringworld CCTV archives and the last vox report received from the Marduk group.

Personal note: I advise you announce a RED ALERT ASAP and employ all available means of defense.

Signed: Grand Coordinator Kleiner, Star Fleet

  DAY FIVE

  Mission Control to Star Fleet

  RED ALERT!

  Status: SOLDEF

“I hereby order you to unpack the SOLDEFENDER files and upload their protocols to the ship cogitors. Follow the instructions received. Spare no cost to prevent the object Black Moon from approaching Earth. Deploy the Star Fleet, including all auxiliary craft, in accordance with the Barrier scheme. Using all available means, launch an attack on the object Black Moon.”

Confidential: Attached please find the unblock codes for Absolute-class weapons.

Personal note: Nuke that piece of shit at any cost! Collateral damage no objection.

  DAY SIX

  Mission Control to Operations Command

  Red Alert!

  Status: EARTHDEF

“I hereby order you to urgently unpack the EARTHDEF and RAGNAROK files. Issue orders for general conscription. Commence emergency evacuation of all civilian population as of Protocol RAGNAROK. Commence urgent shutdown of projects AURORA, NOAH and COSMO. Employ all planetary defense systems. Activate all surface-to-space rocket launchers. Unseal and utilize all available supplies of thermonuclear and neutron warfare. Use the available kinetic weapons as long-range out-of-atmosphere artillery. Spare no ammo. Prepare to strike at the object Black Moon.”

  Attachments:

  1. Attack scheme

  2. Launch codes.

  Mission Control to Stars 1-9

“I hereby order you to connect and activate all military orbitals as of Protocol EARTHDEF. Send the Absolute reactors into overdrive until they annihilate. Prepare to launch a strike on the object Black Moon as of Protocol SKYSTRIKE the moment it’s within reach.”

Personal note: So help us God!

  Mission Control to Stellar

“I hereby order you to unblock Depositary 17. Prepare to launch Protocol INCARNATION.”

  DAY SEVEN

  Mission Control: Unavailable

  Star (1-9): Unavailable

  Star Fleet: Unavailable

&n
bsp; “Current planetary situation: RAGNAROK 3.

“All control centers and the entire civilizational infrastructure have been destroyed. Azure radiation levels: RED ALERT. The probability of the death of current civilization: HIGH.

  About Roman Prokofiev

AS A CHILD, Roman Prokofiev was fascinated by the books of great fantasy writers such as J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, and Glen Cook. He started jotting down his first fantasy stories in checkered notebooks at the age of fourteen. At that time, his stories were creative reinterpretations of the books he had read.

Over the next twenty years, Roman fell in the trap of growing up: he studied, worked, and started a family. Meanwhile, he remained an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, as well as a gamer, making the LitRPG genre close to his heart. As he compared popular works with his childish attempts, he was encouraged to finally dust off his old tattered notebooks and get back to writing!

Roman Prokofiev's first book immediately attracted the attention of several thousand readers. Moreover, on most Russian literary sites his books got designated as the top of the genre and were picked by leading publishers.

Prokofiev thinks of himself as a virtual fantasy writer. In his own words, “I know the world of modern gamers and the nuances of MMOs perfectly, but the main thing in my works is the plot and adventures of the characters. I consider my main achievement to be the creation of Sphere of Worlds, a grandiose virtual multiverse, populated by bright, unusual characters. Such as the ingenious merchant Cat, the naive alchemist girl Weldy, the cold-blooded hunter Ace...”

[1] Darr Veter: one of the main characters from the 1957 science fiction novel Andromeda: A Space-Age Tale by the Russian author Ivan Efremov. Set in a Utopian society of a far future, the novel tells the story of fearless space exploration, and the name of Darr Veter became synonymous in Russia with the image of a dedicated and selfless man of the future.
