  Acknowledgements

During the writing of Jailbird Detective numerous friends, allies, and mentors have magically appeared at the right time with support, input and encouragement along the way. You know who you are. Special thanks go to: Patrick Altes, for being my rock during the whole endeavor, particularly reading endless drafts, and collaborating on the cover design; Sheila Hyde, for editorial support, spot-on notes and awesomeness; Franky Kentish for being the perfect social media guru and being all round brilliant; Cassia Friello, for creative graphic design at the drop of hat; Humfrey Hunter of Silvertail Books, for infinite publishing guidance and being an oasis of calm in a storm; Elaine Sharples for typesetting with such flair.

Part of the book journey was making the characters of Jailbird Detective come to life in the trailer, and was all down to the generosity, talent and time of wonderful friends. I would particularly like to thank: Dirk Nel (Director of Photography) and Sjaan Gillings (Hair and Makeup Designer) for your vision, belief, and encouragement; it couldn’t have happened without you guys; Judy Parkinson (Production Manager) for incredible drive, and organizational support; Eddie James Knight (DIT, Editor), partner in crime, going above and beyond always; Glorija Z. Viktus, Annabel Azura, Rosie McMinton and Jack Jacey (Cast) for immense talent as actors, each portraying Elvira, Jemima and Billy brilliantly; Oleg Poupko (Focus Fuller) for expertise and encouragement; Lisa Harmer (Costume), for amazing help on the day and through life. I would also like to thank Tim Nathan (Set Photographer) and Mark French (Gaffer), for giving invaluable and warm assistance and use of Shoot on Site Studio; Maja Jensen (Grip) for joining us late in the day and being great; Mark Soye for giving so much help in post with the grade; Paul Mackie at 24/7 Drama, for generous support. For supplying some stunning vintage costume: Greyhound Vintage (that hat!), Liisa Rohumaa (that other hat!), Michelle Lester, and Gill Jenks at The Stables Theatre; Jan Archibald for the beautiful Jemima/Elvira wigs. For the soundtrack, deepest thanks and love to my BFF, Babs Savage for a unique and soulful vocal; Paul Taylor for a very special day at dsound and, with Sam McCormack, for a wonderful recording; Eric Meyers for a fantastic voice over; Julian Bentley for guidance and support.
