They had faced so many setbacks, right from their first meeting, but each time they had turned towards each other and grown stronger. Warmth flooded his heart, she was his fated mate, no cupid's mistake here. The Fates had blessed him with the gift of a lifetime, a perfect match to his soul. He could face anything with Izzy by his side.
Izzy couldn't wait to get Farryn back to their room. Words alone wouldn't make up for her insensitive behavior, so she'd planned an evening of fun. It couldn't change the outcome of last week, but it could help them build a positive beginning. If Farryn was concerned about what her mother knew, they could always remove her memories. Izzy couldn't regret it, however. She was looking forward to bonding with her mother over baby clothes and diaper duties.
Aggy finished the update and wished everyone a happy Valentine's Day. They were all snowed in, which the dragons appreciated, but most of the women had wanted to go dancing in Denver. Izzy hadn't been one of them. She'd much rather spend an evening alone with her mate.
She hopped up and helped him to his feet. Giddy with anticipation, she pulled him along after her towards the door.
"Are we in a hurry?"
"Yes, I've got something for you."
"I didn't have time to get you anything." His brows drew down low, and he dragged his feet.
"Vivianna was the best gift."
A smile bloomed across his face. "I hope you appreciate how dangerous it was to visit a bear shifter's mate. They are crazy."
"I didn't realize there were other shifters until she told me about her midwife practice. I can't believe you let me think dragons were the only ones."
"We're the only ones that count."
Izzy rolled her eyes. They had reached the room, and it was time to show Farryn his surprise.
"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" She giggled, leaning against the door.
"Yes, now kiss me." He leaned down and took her lips, sliding his tongue across hers. A moan slid up his chest.
"You taste like wassail."
Izzy opened the door and pulled him in. She'd set a fire in the fireplace and set out drinks and snacks. "I know it's your favorite, so I made some."
Farryn shut the door and leaned against it. "It reminds me of your orange spice. A scent I find I can't stand to be without."
"Then you will love the orange blossom bath I've drawn for you. You might need to heat things up a bit though." When her eyes met his, she sent all the love in her heart to swirl around him and wrap him in its warm embrace. He was the very best part of her. Together they would fight to make this world a safe place for their friends and child. But tonight, it was all about them.
He raised his eyebrow and an impish grin lit his eyes. "I'm very good with my fire."
Goosebumps spread across her skin, bless the Fates she knew it was true.
