Broken Alpha

“Is that what you think? Guess that would explain the warriors you have surrounding us!”
“Alpha Georgios we just need to see Odessa for a few moments, it's important.” Raven said.
“As you can see, Luna, she's not here!” Georgios growled at my mate and I growled back.
“Stay out of this Raven!” Lucy barked. “Alpha Georgios, please call the rest of your pack and warriors to witness the DOWNFALL OF THE BEAST OF GREECE!” She snarled at us.
“What's she going to do?” I linked Raven.
“Oh you'll see.” Raven giggled back through the mind link.
“We should take this to the training grounds.” Georgios said looking a little too excited for what might happen next. Perhaps he believed I was about to be taken down by my mates father.
It almost felt like a preplanned ambush. I was certain Odessa was probably being held in a cell as bait to lure me here. The sooner Georgios was dead, the sooner I could look for my sister. I was sure I could kill Georgios with my bare hands while in human form, but I wasn't sure I could take on all of his warriors without shifting if they charged at me.
“No shifting.” Raven reminded me.
“Fuck, I should have brought warriors with us.” I told her as we walked towards their training field.
“That would have put our pack at risk having our best fighters come with us.” She reminded me.
She was right. Leaving with half my warriors would have left the pack weaker if Hades and my father decided to attack. Hell, they were all most likely working together on this. We stopped at the field and was surrounded with warriors, pack members and pups. Georgios stood close to Raven's parents believing they were his allies.
“We are Zeus's Howlers and we stand together. Today our pack is being threatened by my mates brother. He has come to challenge me. As many of you have heard, Alpha Dimitri Theodorus, is not a natural werewolf like us. He possesses unnatural gifts from the devil and intends to use those to conquer our pack as well as the other packs across Greece.” Georgios announced and the crowd growled back.
“Excuse me, Alpha Georgios, did I just hear you refer to the gifts of the Moon Goddess as gifts from the devil?” Lucy asked and the crowd went completely silent. I could see her eyes come to life and feel her aura all the way from where I was standing.
“The beast is evil after all.” Georgios managed to utter.
“Tell me Georgios, do you believe everyone who possesses a gift from the Gods is evil?” She asked. “Do you know what I think is evil? I think slavery and sex trafficking is evil. You do have slaves here, don't you Georgios?” Her voice sounded lethal.
“Alpha LaRue, please control your mate. We are here to deal with the bastard who stole your daughter and wants to take our Luna away.” Georgios snapped.
“I'm sorry Georgios, my mate can't be controlled, she is a descendant of not one, but two Gods. You know how temperamental Gods could be.” Diesel smiled proudly and gasps could be heard around the field.
“Alpha Georgios, you have neglected this pack and your duties to it. You have been consumed by greed and power, putting this pack in financial peril. You have also failed to provide an heir and have managed to lose your mate, the Luna of this pack.” She said. With every word she spoke she walked around the center of the field so that everyone could feel her power.
“I didn't lose my mate.” He growled.
I was ready to leap at him and rip his fucking throat out when Raven grabbed my arm. “Wait, he won't be able to lie to her, Lia is on the surface and she can compel the truth from him with her aura.”
“Where is Odessa?” She demanded and stared him down from the middle of the field.
“W-with her father.” He managed to utter and looked confused by his sudden truthfulness.
A growl ripped from me and Dom was at the surface. Lucy held her hand up at me for a moment telling me to stand down. I wanted this fucker dead. Raven pressed herself to my chest in a hug, not because she was crying, but because she wanted to calm both Dom and I.
“Wait please. She's almost there.” Raven whispered to me.
“You gave your mate away to a known murdering mafia boss! Why?” She asked.
“He would have taken the pack if I didn't. You don't know what Stefanos is capable of.” Georgios said.
“Alpha Georgios of pack Zeus's Howlers, I, Lucy Michaels LaRue, challenge you for this pack to the death.”
“You? You're not even an Alpha!” He growled.
“Then it shouldn't be a problem for you.”
“You have to be an Alpha to lead a pack!” He growled and shifted into his wolf.
“You hardly qualify as an Alpha Georgios, besides I'M BETTER THAN AN ALPHA!” Lucy burst out of her clothes and shifted into her beautiful golden wolf. Her roar shook the ground and her amber eyes burned with fire. She truly was a sight to behold. Shocked gasps and screams rang out. Some were pointing and others dropped to their knees when they recognized what Lucy was.
Three foolish warriors tried to charge forward at Lucy to attack her. She turned her head and fire came shooting out of her eyes at them. Screams erupted as they fell to the ground in flames. I was stunned, Lucy could do more than manipulate fire, she could create her own.
Lucy stomped her front paw and growled at Georgios. He stood frozen with fear for a moment and bared his teeth at her, taking a few steps back. He was no dummy, he was not about to charge at a golden wolf.
She walked across the field towards Georgios, never breaking eye contact with him. No one moved. There was an eerie stillness in the air. His eyes shifted to his dead warriors and he knew he was no match for her. He turned to run, and Lucy lunged at him in one swift movement and ripped out his throat. Georgios’ lifeless body laid at her feet and she howled out.
Those in wolf form howled back and the others still standing knelt before her. Lucy had just claimed Zeus's Howlers as her own.
Chapter 37 – Progress
“I'm Lucy Michaels LaRue, Luna of Crescent Moon Pack. As a golden wolf of the Gods, I now claim Zeus's Howlers as my own. We are not enemies with Alpha Dimitri Theodorus. Our daughter Raven LaRue, is his mate and the new Luna of Olympus Blood Moon. We believe this will be a strong alliance for both packs and Zeus's Howlers will grow stronger and flourish.” My mother said.
Applause and joyous howls erupted from the crowd. My mother stood in the middle of the field wearing nothing but my father’s shirt after she shifted back. Dimitri and I stood with my father as my mother addressed her new pack.
“Beta Onassis, please step forward.” She called out. The crowd became silent and some exchanged nervous looks. “Some of you may have already heard, our oldest son and heir of Crescent Moon, Knox LaRue, is the mate of the Beta's daughter. This will now connect the packs in more ways than one. We are honored to have Raquel Onassis, from Zeus's Howlers as the future Luna of the largest pack in the world, Crescent Moon, and our daughter-in-law.” More applause and proud howls rang out.
“I have five Alpha sons. As mentioned my oldest, Knox LaRue, will be taking over Crescent Moon and his twin Peter LaRue, will be taking Dark Moon from his uncle. This means that we will have plenty of time to oversee things at this pack. It is my intention to eventually turn the pack over to my heir, my third son, Roman LaRue. He will receive training and oversight from my mate and I to ensure the success of this pack. If there's anyone who wishes to challenge me for the pack, please step forward.”
Silence.
“Very well, let's move along, we have a few orders of business to take care of. First, we will not tolerate any disloyalty or treachery. If you do not believe you are capable of being a contributing member of this pack, or you simply do not wish to be here, I will give you until sunrise tomorrow to peacefully leave the territory. Second, everyone will contribute to the pack, we will not keep slaves. We will have some paid staff members as well as duties that everyone contributes to. If any slave is interested in becoming a pack member, we will take th
em in and provide appropriate accommodations for them. If they wish to leave or return to their original pack, I will be happy to help them. Finally, does anyone here have any knowledge of the whereabouts of Odessa Theodorus?”
There was some low murmurs and nervous looks exchanged. Rocky's father spoke first. “Alpha Lucy, Georgios met with a few men at the edge of the territory last night and gave her to them. She was shackled in silver so she couldn't shift or escape. Georgios owed Eros or the mafia money and because Stefanos wanted her, he gave her to him, to clear his debts.”
“Thank you Beta.” My mother said. “You are all dismissed. We will have another pack meeting tomorrow evening to discuss pack changes and pledge our oaths.”
“YES ALPHA!” They said and began to disburse.
“Alpha, I'll have someone take care of the bodies. I trust you know your way around here, if you need anything, please feel free to let me know.” Rocky's father said.
“Thank you, I will. Let's meet in an hour to start discussing the changes we should implement Beta.” She told him.
“You still want me as a Beta?” He asked.
“Of course, we're family now Phillip. My son Roman, will likely want one of his cousins to come with him as his second. You have a great deal of knowledge and training to share with the future Beta in training.” She smiled.
“It will be a pleasure.” He returned the smile and bowed.
Dimitri and I followed my parents to the Alpha’s office. When the door was closed the four of us all breathed a sigh of relief. My mom was now the Alpha of this pack.
“That was incredible mom.” I said.
“Thank you. He was expecting you to come and had planned an ambush.” She said.
“So if Roman gets this pack, what do we do with Eros’ pack after we take it from Hades?” My father asked.
“Let's worry about that after I find my sister.” Dimitri said.
“Do we have any idea where Stefanos May have taken her?” I asked.
“My guess would be that he's in the city, hiding somewhere with her. Eros owns a lot of buildings and businesses that have been linked to mafia activities. There's also a possibility they're with Hades. Kosta was looking into it for me but we can't ask him until he wakes up.” Dimitri told my parents.
“Wakes up?” My father asked.
“He was found at our boarder, hardly breathing, beaten and shot with a silver bullet. Dr. Vovos was able to stabilize him, but he's not awake yet.” Dimitri said.
“Any guesses who it was?” My dad asked.
“Stefanos or his henchmen.” Dimitri said.
“Do you think he will actually hurt your sister?” My mom sounded worried asking that question.
“After my mother died, my father became a heartless monster. I was only twelve when he started beating me and Odessa was four. He didn't lay a hand on her until she turned eight, when he started beating her too, she ran away. She had crawled through a window and hid herself in the basement of the Beta’s house. Kosta was the Beta and had no idea Odessa was in his basement. When my father found her there, three days later, he thought that Kosta's mate had helped her hide from him. He punished her by raping her in front of Odessa and I, then he killed her. Kosta was devastated.”
“I'm so sorry.” My mother whispered in shock.
“My father turned into a monster when he lost his mate. Kosta fell apart after losing his mate. Kosta was our best fighter, he was as strong and tough as any Alpha. Seeing what happened to him, how it destroyed him from the inside out; it showed me how vulnerable a mate really makes you. My father continued to beat me, and I did my best to protect Odessa too. He made me hate the idea of having a mate, he made me unwilling to love. After I took the pack from him, I was full of rage. I had a short fuse for abusive Alpha's and went on a killing spree that earned me the beast title. I took out my years of frustration and anger on bad Alpha's. I was broken. My father broke me. I never had any intention of accepting my mate, but then Raven swooped right into my life.” Dimitri pulled me into a hug.
“I do believe he is capable of hurting Odessa, maybe even sending me her head. But I also believe he will keep her alive to lure me in.” Dimitri finished.
“How do we find Stefanos now?” My mom asked.
“I think he'll find me. He's got an army of rogues, Eros’ pack at his disposal and he may be planning an attack soon.”
“Should we get back to your pack?” My mom asked.
“There's a good chance he may show up here, at this pack. Once word travels that Georgios is dead, he will want to know who you are. He may have even been counting on using warriors from this pack in the battle to take my pack.” Dimitri told my parents.
“He's right.” My dad said. “You'll have to stay here and prepare this pack in case he comes knocking.”
“Raven and I should probably head back; I don't want to be gone long in case he shows up at my pack with Hades.” Dimitri told them.
“We have scouts watching Hades’ pack right now, if they make a move, we will know.” I told my parents.
“Well don't worry about us, I can hold off an entire army.” My mother said. “Raven, make sure you've got two lighters on you at all times.”
“Dimitri, when you find out where Stefanos is, let us know, we can be there quickly to help. Lia can run much faster than the fastest Alpha.” My father told him.
“Thank you. We'll be in touch.” Dimitri said. I hugged my parents and we left.
We left the pack in the jeep and drove back. I kept thinking about what Dimitri had said, how his father had broken him. It explained why he struggled so much in the beginning to accept me. I need to train more and become stronger; I don’t want him feeling vulnerable at the thought of having a weak mate. My phone rang pulling out of my thoughts, I noticed it was a call from Clair. I answered it on speaker. “Hi Clair.”
“Hi, Niko, Knox and Rocky are here with me, you're on speaker phone.” She said.
“We just heard from Rocky's father that mom took the pack.” Knox asked.
“She sure did! Looks like Roman is moving to Greece.” I said.
“How's Kosta doing?” Dimitri asked.
“Still sleeping Alpha.” Niko answered.
“Any territory breaches?”
“Nothing, it's been very quiet, but we've doubled the patrols.” Knox said.
“Alec went to Moon Warriors to check on the scouts.” Niko said.
“There's a good chance Odessa might be at Moon Warriors. Raven and I are heading there now, we should be there in about two hours.” Dimitri said.
“Do you need back up?” Niko asked.
“No, not yet. If our territory is being watched I don't want them to notice that we're on the move. I need Spiro to work with his team and get me all the known locations in Athens that Eros owned or was affiliated with. Georgios turned Odessa over to Stefanos and he could be holding her in one of the buildings.” Dimitri explained.
“That fucker!” Niko said outraged.
“Kosta was tracking Stefanos, we need to know what he knows the minute he wakes up.”
“Will do Alpha.” Niko replied.
I hung up the phone and Dimitri reached for my hand. He was on edge over his sister and I couldn't seem to understand how he kept it all together. We needed to find her and soon. If Stefanos wanted to weaken Dimitri, killing Odessa would be the next step.
“Do you want to stop and get something to eat?” Dimitri asked me.
“I’m not really hungry, my stomach has been kind of queasy today.” I told him.
We arrived just outside of Moon Warriors territory in the Epirus region of Greece. Dimitri parked the Jeep in a wooded area and picked up his cell phone.
“We'll have to leave the Jeep here and get closer in wolf form.”
“Is Alec here already?” I asked.
Dimitri's eyes glazed over, and he was mind linking with someone. A low growl rumbled in his throat and I could feel him get tense with anger.
“What's wrong?” I asked.
“FUCK! There's no sign of Hades or Odessa.” He said.
“And Stefanos?”
“He's here, with lots of rogues. Looks like the warriors are preparing to move out for an attack. They won't be able to move in such large groups without being noticed until after sunset.”
“That’s about three more hours, we’ll need to get back to the pack. Where's Alec at?” I asked.
Dimitri grinned. “Seducing information from the Delta's daughter down by the river.”
I rolled my eyes. “Alec and his trusty penis.”
