The Evil
Page 19
No! The evil is inside him now!
Latrell’s eyes went from Tracy back to Adam. He didn’t know what to do.
Adam finally stood up, his eyes pure white.
Evil and possessed, Latrell thought.
Adam picked up the gun and pointed it towards Trisha.
Latrell pushed Trisha to the ground and stood in front of her holding out his arms.
Adam ran up and hit Latrell with the butt of the gun in his face.
Latrell dropped down to the ground. His head spinning. His eyes blurry.
Then Latrell heard it. Two gunshots.
Two loud gunshots but, he couldn’t see anything.
Latrell struggled to get his vision straight. He shook his head and blinked several times.
Please don’t tell me he shot Trisha! Please!
His eyes finally started adjusting and he could see Trisha on the ground still. He could also see blood coming from her stomach, her holding her hands over it.
He shot her. Adam shot her.
Adam was standing over Trisha now. Looking at her menacingly. He pointed the gun at her face.
Latrell leapt up.
“Bye Trisha.” Adam said as he fired a shot.
Latrell was able to tackle him just in time causing the gun to move and the bullet to hit right by Trisha’s head.
Latrell started punching Adam in the face over and over. “You mothafucka!” He said slamming his fist into his face.
Latrell felt a couple of raindrops hit the top of his head. He could hear the sky rumbling letting him know that it was about to rain.
He couldn’t stop punching Adam. Even though blood was everywhere his fists felt so good going across Adam’s face. Especially after he short Trisha.
The rain started coming down now. Big fat, cold raindrops fell to the ground hard.
Latrell finally stopped punching Adam.
Adam lay there in a pool of blood. Blood covering his face. He started twitching as soon as the water hit his skin.
It doesn’t like the rain, Latrell thought.
He thought back to that night when that possessed guy chased them from the bar and it started raining. He remembered how the rain made it go crazy. How the thunder hurt it’s ears.
Latrell moved out the way and let the rain fully engulf Adam.
The evil inside Adam started screaming. Flailing his hands around like he was drowning.
The smoke tried to escape through Adam’s mouth and nostrils but Latrell ran back over and put his hands over his face, covering his nose and mouth.
“Oh, no you don’t! You’re not goin’ anywhere bitch!” Latrell said.
Adam still flailed his arms around. His whole body twitching. His skin felt like it was burning.
Then a loud boom of thunder shot across the sky.
Adam started shaking again.
“Yes. Die mothafucka!” Latrell said. He didn’t want Adam to die, just the evil inside him.
Adam’s head was on fire now. The flames big and bright.
Latrell moved back.
The evil squealed inside Adam.
The flames spread to Adam’s body. His whole body was engulfed in flames now.
Adam stood up and ran about twenty feet before dropping down to his knees. The bright flames lit up the darkness if the forest. The evil still squealing inside him.
Latrell then focused his attention on Trisha. Who lay on the ground barely moving.
“Trisha? Are you okay baby?” He dropped to his knees and put her head on his lap.
“This shit hurts.” Trisha said faintly.
“I know baby. Hold on. We’ll get you to a hospital.” Latrell told her.
Malik and Kia stood over Tracy. Malik bent over and touched her neck. “She’s breathing. She’s still alive.” He said.
Latrell picked Trisha up in his arms and started carrying her through the forest.
“We’ll meet you at the hospital.” Malik said from behind him. “We’ll bring this psychopath.”
“Okay.” Latrell said.
He made his way past Adam who was now nothing more than a burnt pile of ashes. Heavy gray smoke rose from the pile.
“Don’t worry baby. I’m gonna get you taken care of.” Latrell said.
Latrell looked at the pile of ashes one more time. I can’t believe this is finally over, he thought.
Inside the van Latrell looked over at Trisha.
“Hold on baby, I’m gonna get you some help.” He said looking at her worried.
He started up the van and pulled out of the forest.
Malik and Kia followed behind them once they loaded up Tracy in the backseat of the SUV.
Latrell was nervous for Trisha. She had been through so much he didn’t know if she was gonna make it.
She sat there quietly in the fetal position on the passenger seat.
Once they got to the hospital, Latrell carried her quickly through the emergency room door. “Help! She’s been shot!” He exclaimed nervously. Her blood covering his shirt.
“What’s her name?” A short older female nurse asked as she ran to him.
“Trisha Brown.” Latrell answered.
Nurses ran over and quickly took Trisha from Latrell.
“Sir if you’ll just have a seat. We will come and keep you updated on her condition.” A young blonde nurse told him.
Latrell nodded.
A few minutes later Malik and Kia walked with Tracy into the emergency room, one on each side of her holding her up.
The nurse’s came and took Tracy back through the big wooden doors too.
Latrell, Malik and Kia sat next to each other.
“Fucked up night.” Malik said softly.
“Yeah it is.” Latrell agreed.
They talked softly to each other. The waiting room was halfway filled with people most on the opposite side away from them.
The lights started flickering above them.
They all looked up.
“It’s here.” Latrell said, not taking his eyes off the lights.
“How do you know?” Kia asked.
“I can feel it. I can sense the evil.” Latrell explained.
I have to get to Trisha, Latrell thought.
He stood up and headed towards the big wooden doors.
“Sir please have a seat. Someone will be with you shortly.” The nurse receptionist said behind the desk covered in glass by the wooden doors.
“Ma’am you don’t understand. I think my girlfriend is in danger. Can someone please check on her.” Latrell said worried.
“What’s her name?” The nurse asked.
“Trisha. Trisha Brown.” Latrell said walking up to the desk.
“I’ll have someone check on her sir. Don’t worry.” The nurse promised.
Latrell started walking back to his seat when he heard the first scream.
Then another.
Pretty soon screams filled the hallway behind the big wooden doors.
Latrell’s heart started racing wondering what it could be.
Malik and Kia stared at the big wooden doors as nurses began running out from behind it into the lobby.
Then Latrell saw it. He saw Tracy standing there behind the glass part of the door. Her eyes white all over.
The evil got back in her, he realized.
Tracy pushed the big double doors open and walked out into the lobby. She was carrying something in her hand.
It was dripping bright red blood on the floor. A trail of blood followed behind her.
Kia covered her mouth as she screamed.
Latrell could then make out what she was carrying the closer she got. It was a head.
Trisha’s head. Her mouth wide open.
No! It can’t be.
“Now we can be together baby.” Tracy said. She sat in his lap and kissed him.
It felt like something was stuck in Latrell’s throat. He couldn’t say anything. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t believe this was happening.
Trisha’s de
ad!
Hospital security circled around them with their guns drawn.
It was the last thing Latrell remembered before he passed out. Everything went black, his heart was racing a million miles an hour. All he could hear was the voice of the security officers yelling. Telling Tracy to put the head down.
