When Darkness Falls Page 17

“We still need a name for her,” Levi reminds me, running his hand over her small head. “Did you think more about it?”

“I have a name in mind, but if you don’t like it, that’s all right,” I tell him, feeling a bit shy about it.

Levi nods, encouraging me to continue. “Can we name her Emily?” I ask, looking down at our little bundle.

“Where did that name come from? It’s cute.” Izzy smiles, rocking her son gently.

“It was my mom’s name,” I murmur, kissing the baby’s head. “I want to have a piece of her here with me.”

Levi smiles sadly at me. “It’s beautiful, and you’re beautiful. Thank you for giving me our Emily.”

“Thank you for giving me my life back,” I reply, kissing him softly.

“I wonder what these two will be like when they grow up,” Izzy muses, looking from her son to my daughter with a goofy grin. “I bet they will be best friends.”

“They are going to grow up in the same house together, practically like siblings.” I grin, imagining all the fun we will have as a family. “I never had siblings so I can’t wait to see how it turns out.”

“I have a feeling this little one is going to be a handful,” Levi tells me, smiling proudly down at our girl. “She is already stubborn as can be. She made us wait three days after you were due. She nearly refused to come out, and she wouldn’t kick when I asked her to. She is just like her mama.”

I give Levi a playful glare and he just chuckles.

“I say we get started on those siblings soon,” Levi insists, waggling his eyebrows at me.

I roll my eyes and push him away. “Not a chance buddy. Give a girl a few weeks to recover!”

“Okay, so in two weeks we will get to work,” he nods, his tone serious. Oh, if he only knew how long he is going to be deprived.

Izzy and I share a knowing smile and shake our heads at him.

I lay my head back to rest for a bit as Levi takes a full and happy Emily from me. A small smile forms on my face as I think of my family. Vivian and Joseph have gone to spend some time alone together in South America. They are going to be home soon. I can’t wait to hear about their long trip. I have a feeling they will be moving down there for a few years. Abe and Mary might even put them in charge of the clan down there.

Abe and Mary aren’t my parents but they are just as amazing and loving. I couldn’t ask for better. Izzy and I grew impossibly close during our pregnancies and I’m so glad I had her there to experience it with me. Brecken and Levi grew much closer as well, both complaining about us lifting more than one finger for nine long months.

Remus and Nikki decided to go to a modern college nearby. It was easy enough to fake the paperwork they needed and Remus wants to open his own private practice. His medical knowledge is outdated so he is going to brush up on it first. Nikki said she was going to be his “naughty nurse” which made us all chuckle. She is really going to be a nurse, and I couldn’t think of a better person for the role.

Levi gave me a ring for my eighteenth birthday. He told me that when the baby is born and I’m feeling up for it, he wants me to plan my dream wedding. In my eyes, our bond is more than just a marriage, but it will be nice to have a wedding like I used to dream of as a girl.

It’s crazy to think back on everything that happened in the last year and a half, and it all started with Brecken and Remus kidnapping me in the middle of the night. I will always be grateful for that night and the darkness that fell.

  About the Author

  Amanda Perry

My name is Amanda Perry, and I have a writing problem. Really, it's true. I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember thanks to my Grandmother who is a scriptwriter.

When I married the love of my life things got a little crazy and I took a step back from writing for a while. We had our first baby and I became a stay-at-home mama.

Time flew and my baby became my big kid! While my Big started school, I decided to take up writing again. We became pregnant with our angel baby boy a while later. God decided he needed our baby boy more, but a few months later blessed us with our youngest child. My Little has become very active lately and keeps us all on our toes.

While my spare time is minimal, I do enjoy dancing with strangers in casinos, googling odd facts, and drinking my weight in Diet Coke. My family means everything to me, and in that, I include a few close friends.

Writing is my passion and as long as I'm able, I'll continue to pursue my dream.
