The Calling of the Trinity (Trinity Cycle Book 2)

“Your dad’s home.”
“Mm, late date night with Josephine,” I commented. “I’ll have to get after him for breaking curfew.”
Wren chuckled. “I better go offer him a cupcake before you ream him. I’ll be right back.” Wren winked and headed for the stairs.
A sigh left my lips as I turned back towards the computer, fingertips hovering over the keys. Artemis had told us the girl lived not far from where we had been on the coastline… I’d tried searching the major cities through the coast and came up with a whole lot of dead ends. But there was a smaller town–somewhere on the coast that my mom had once mentioned to me a long time ago. She’d known a couple of witches that lived there. I chewed on the corner of my lip as I typed Emery’s name back into the search bar, and next to it: Casper North Carolina. I hit enter.
A news article caught my attention. Local area teen dies after sailboat capsized in a pop-up coastal storm. I clicked on the link, scanning through the article and read the names of the teenagers involved in the accident. My breath caught in my lungs when I saw her name–typed in bold font. She’d survived along with three others, losing the life of one of her friends.
I pressed the heel of my hand into my chest as I read the article more thoroughly, eyes glued to the screen. I didn’t even hear Wren enter my room and jumped when he laid his hand on my shoulder.
“Take it easy,” Wren said, peering over my shoulder.
“Wren,” I breathed, “I think I found her.”
