Lying on her back, she struggled to catch her breath. “That shit aint funny,” she fussed.

He grinned. “Yeah, it is. But go ahead and catch your breath, because this shit aint over. I’m just getting started.”

  “Oh, God,” she groaned.

“Nah, don’t ‘oh God’ now. You wanted it and now you got it. So, put your big girl panties on and take this dick.”

  ***

Rye sat up in bed, paranoid as hell. She knew that she was at home alone but could’ve sworn that she’d heard something coming from downstairs. It was merely a little past two in the morning, so she knew that it couldn’t be Jaylen. He’d organized a huge concert and afterparty. It was star-studded, and Rye understood that on a night like tonight that he probably wouldn’t step through the door until at least six in the morning. Therefore, when she heard footsteps down the hall, she all but shitted on herself.

“You sleep?” Jaylen pushed the door open.

“Ahh!” she screamed, before realizing who it was. “Boy, you scared the shit out of me.” she held her chest. “What are you doing here so early?”

He flicked on the light, before causally swaggering over to the bed. Rocking Givenchy, he was dripping sauce, cause her clit to thump a tad. “You acting like you me being here is a problem.”

“Boy, nobody said anything like that. I’m just asking, cause I know that yall put together the after party as well.”

“Yeah,” he yawned, as he sat at the edge of the bed and removed his shoes. “I showed my face at the after party, made sure that everything was straight, and dipped. That nigga Terio can handle the rest. He’s really getting the hang of it. In a lil’ while me and Jah are just gonna have to put our money up for the flip. Then Terio can do everything else on his own. He’s been looking to find something that he really likes so he can leave the street shit alone, completely. So, it’ll be a win/win.”

“That’s good.” Rye nodded. “But you still didn’t tell me why you came home so early. Your party animal ass usually never passes up on an opportunity to turn up.”

He lifted his shirt over his head, before tossing it to the floor. “I’m cool on that shit, man. I’ve partied enough for three people. That club shit is getting old. I mean, the money is still good, so I’ll probably always invest in promoting, but I feel like I’m ready to fall back from being the face of it. Besides, with Jah being in the NBA now, I’m sure we’ll get even bigger draws. The names on the roster will be enough along to pack a house.”

“True,” Rye concurred, as she watched him remove his jeans.

“On the real, I’m thinking of ways to run shit that won’t consume so much of my time. I wanna have a schedule that’s sensible before the baby gets here. And you need to get on top of hire more stylists at the shop, cause you aint going back no time soon.”

She shook her head as she tittered. She was nearing the end of her pregnancy and Jaylen had put his foot down. She was done doing hair, until after the baby. She would front like she was annoyed by that but was secretly relieved. Now, she could sleep all she wants, and mentally prepare herself for what was to come. “Whatever you say, boss Jaylen.”

“I’m serious.” He came and sat right next to her.

She smiled. “I still can’t believe that your ass left the club early. On the cool, had I not been pregnant, my ass would’ve been the main one in there bopping. You would’ve had to drag me off the dance floor.”

“Yeah, right. If anything, your ass would’ve been in the section posted up wherever I was. If you know what’s good for you. But anyway, I left early cause I wanted to end my night with my babies. Is that alright with you?”

She silently nodded, as she sat up, before easing out of bed.

“Where you going?” he gently grabbed her hand.

She lowered down to her knees. “You’ve been a good boy. So, I gotta show you how much we appreciate you.”

He smirked, as he gazed down at her. “How are you gonna do that?”

She pulled his briefs back and his dick sprung up. “Like this,” she uttered, licking the tip of his massive hard-on.

He watched in sheer wonderment as she took his entire dick down his throat. That’s when he knew that he’d have to come in early more often.

  Chapter 31

“Man, are you gonna just hold up the wall all night?” Yan questioned.

Jaylen stroked his goatee. “Nigga, quit worrying about me. I came through for your housewarming. I’m supporting. That’s all that matters.”

“True,” Yan happily nodded, before clasping hands with Jaylen. “You came through and that’s all that matters.”

“Yeah, now, go holler at your guests. I’ma finish this beer, before I head out.”

Yan frown. “You trying to leave already? You just got here.”

“Yeah, I had a long day, man,” Jaylen yawned.

Yan nodded. “Been running around, preparing for the baby, huh?”

“Hell, yeah. We had to go out and buy everything, since Rye didn’t want a gender reveal or a baby shower.”

“So, you still don’t know what she’s having?”

“Nah. We decided to wait to find out at birth. I mean, we might as well.” Jaylen shrugged. “But I know it’s a boy. I can feel it.”

Yan smirked. “Or is that what you want?”

Jaylen stroked his waves. “A little boy would be cool but I’m straight either way it goes.”

“It’s still crazy to hear you talk about having a baby. Nigga, I thought that you’d be the last one, preparing for that shit. You was just claiming to be a player for life. Now, look at you.”

“I know, huh, but shit changes.”

“I see,” Yan bucked his eyes. “Rye must be the truth.”

  Jaylen shrugged. “She a’ight.”

Yan chuckled. “Yeah, right, nigga. You in love like a muthafucka. I aint never seen you post a broad on your page, and she’s all over that muthafucka. Even the weekly kickbacks done came to a halt. Shit is different. You different.”

Jaylen couldn’t deny that. His life was moving in a different direction, but he was embracing it. Rye was making him happy and he couldn’t complain. “I guess you right, to a certain extent. But I think the kickbacks scaled back because I’m just too busy. I think that once she has the baby and we settle in, shit will slowly return to normal…or somewhat at least. Niggas can’t really come through and knock down random broads in the backrooms no more. So, until we find a balance, I just been chilling. I aint trying to hear her mouth, because the last time my cousin brought a broad over there to fuck, Rye almost fought me, like I was fucking the bitch. Talking about the only hoe who gon be pussy popping in that house is her.”

Yan laughed. “Well, that’s most women. They’re territorial and don’t like unfamiliar women in their personal space.”

“Shit, tell me about it.” Jaylen took a swig from his beef bottle.

“Bae, come here,” Simone called Yan over.

“What’s up?” Yan furrowed his brows, as he strolled over to her.

“Hey, what’s up, stranger?” Dee spoke, as she switched over. Wearing tight distressed blue jeans, and a cut off shirt, she was proudly showcasing her immaculate physique.

Jaylen shook his head, as his eyes casted down to the floor. For quite some time, it had been awkward, dealing with her. She was supposed to be his little sister-in-law, but they’d fucked, and Dee seemingly never wanted him to forget that detail.

“Nothing much. What’s up with you?” he lifted his head. “I thought that you was gonna work at the shop?”

Dee frowned. “Well, you know Rye wasn’t trying to be around me after her grand opening, even though I had nothing to do with our daddy showing up.”

Jaylen licked his lips. “For one: that’s your daddy, man. Not hers. And yall need to cut out the bullshit. At the end of the day, yall are sisters. Family. That’s all you really have in this world, so I really hope that yall can put the petty bullshit aside.
You finna have a niece or nephew in a few and it would be fucked up, if you didn’t get a chance to know them.”

Dee shook her head. “You barking up the wrong tree. Rye is the one that be ready to cut me off just because of a disagreement. She shows more love to hoes that she’s known for less than a year.”

“And you don’t think that you have anything to do with that? You be coming at her sideways but don’t seem to hold your old man accountable for his actions.”

She sucked her teeth. “Jaylen, you just don’t know the half. That’s why I was so shocked when you decided to take her seriously.”

“Why? You thought that you was a better fit?”

She tucked her lips into her mouth. “I mean, I’m a better choice than her.”

Jaylen’s head fell back. “Aww, come on, man. This girl can’t be serious,” he chuckled to himself, thinking that she was a cold piece of work. Regardless of their sexual encounter, her sister was having his baby, which should’ve been enough for her to accept that it would never be anything further between them.

“No, just hear me out. What I’m saying makes perfect sense. Just think about it. I just took you for the type that liked girls with substance. I mean, I love my sister, but she’s not the brightest. Her grades were always subpar at best, while I was the straight A student. My daddy would always tell her to never get out of shape, because she was the type that was gonna have to marry up. Her looks were the only thing she ever had on her side---”

“Okay, now, you sounding like a hater. Flat out,” he cut her off. “Rye is far from dumb. And let me make this clear, in case I didn’t before. What we did…was cool. I liked you, but even if I hadn’t chosen your sister…it still wasn’t ever gonna be---"

Dee gulped, as she tried to hide her hurt feelings. “It was never gonna be me. I feel that.” She nodded. “But why her? I mean, you can basically have any girl you want, but you get with Rye. Do you even know why everyone was so pissed at her, when she went out to Cali and messed with you?”

“Why?” he folded his arms across his chest.

“Because she was selfish. She didn’t care about how her actions would affect anybody. Hell, my daddy is still trying to recover from that blow, and she’s running around without a care in the world.”

“Nah, that don’t make her selfish. If anything, it sounds like ya pops is a damn fool. There was no way in hell that his livelihood should’ve been tied into Rye’s dating life. He should’ve had a legit contract that would stand, no matter what happens with Rye and that nigga. She was under no obligation to stay with that hoe ass nigga, especially since he didn’t know how to keep his hands to himself.”

“See, that’s the thing. Nothing is all that it seems. Even down to that.”

  Jaylen frowned. “What you mean?”

“Have you ever heard Rye mention anybody named Brad?”

“Not that I can recall. Why?”

“Because he’s a guy she used to mess with. Heavy. And guess what? He’s one of Tori’s close friends. In fact, they still hang ‘til this day. If you don’t believe it, then go look at Tori’s Instagram. He’s always partying with Brad, and Rye fucked them both. Initially, Tori didn’t know, but once he found out he was devastated. It got out, and even our parents knew about it. That’s why they were more prone to siding with Tori, after that. They knew that Rye wasn’t to be trusted. I watched Tori literally cry over my sister, because he was always catching her cheating. So, no, I’m not co-signing his choice to hit her, but I know that my sister changed that man. He was different before he got with her, and definitely wasn’t the same person by the end. Therefore, all you witnessed was the monster he’d transformed into, but you didn’t really know how he’d gotten that way. So, I’m just giving you a heads up. I don’t really think you know who you’re dealing with, and I’d hate to see you waste your time with someone who is low key just a thot. If anything, you should be making sure that she’s coming correct, cause knowing my sister…that baby is definitely related to me…but it might be a different story for you.”

  ***

“I can’t see nothing,” Rye complained, as she used her hand to wipe the bathroom’s vanity mirror.

“Its cause you had that water so damn hot. Damn near burnt the skin off my dick,” Jaylen offered, as he wrapped a towel around his waist.

Rye didn’t hear a word he’d said, as she watched her nakedness in the mirror. He took this time to really take her in. She was eight and a half months pregnant and was all belly. Her ass was fat as hell, but everything else was just as it was before she’d gotten pregnant. Undoubtedly, she was going to be one of those chicks who snapped back quickly, and as she twerked to the music in her head, he figured that she was going to remain a problem. Even while pregnant with his child, she was one of the most beautiful girls he’d ever seen, which was frustrating to him. The longer he watched her, the more his mind went to work. His jealously was in high gear, and he was trying his best not to expose his hand.

“Rye,” he called out to her.

She paused, before glancing his way. “Hmm?”

  “You know somebody named Brad?”

She narrowed her eyes and swallowed hard. “Why did you ask me that?”

He shrugged. “Just answer the question.”

She sighed heavily. “Yeah, I know one dude named Brad.”

He eyed her closely. “And that’s it?”

“I mean, I talked to him for a lil’ bit, but why? What made you ask me that?”

He angrily slid his tongue across his teeth. “Well, we both know what your version of talking means.”

She fluttered her long false lashes. “Okay, Jaylen, where is this coming from? Why are you randomly asking me about some nigga I haven’t dealt with in forever?”

He shook his head. “No reason, man. I’m tripping. Don’t even worry about it.”

She placed a hand on her hip. “How am I not supposed to worry about it, after you just questioned me about some nigga, after we just finished fucking?”

He sucked his teeth. “Girl, stop being so dramatic, damn. I was just asking. So, chill out. Let’s get dressed and go get this food. How about that?”

She smiled. “You bae for real. Always trying to feed a big girl. This gotta be what love looks like.”

  ***

“Nigga, this shit is boring as fuck,” Jalero groaned, while peering around the room.

Jaylen smiled lightly. “I know, nigga, but it’s good for business. Networking it a part of the game, so suck this shit up, unc. You can’t be in them streets forever.”

  “Yeah, whatever, nigga,” Jalero grumbled.

Jaylen smirked, while shaking his head. He wasn’t too thrilled to be there at that dry ass party, but this was about business. He’d been chatting with some potential investors and Jalero had come along, because he wanted to become more familiar with the business world. He himself had a few small businesses, but his nephew was ahead in the game and he’d humbled himself to ask for help.

They were at a ballroom in the Hyatt Regency hotel, and the party goers were very diverse. The one thing that most people there had in common was money. Old and new. Therefore, Jaylen had to be on his best behavior, although he’d seen someone that he’d wanted to lay hands on for quite some time.

“Aye, you see Rye’s bitch ass ex over there, near the bar?” Jaylen asked Jalero. “He’s standing next to the lil’ yellow nigga.”

Jalero glanced in the bar’s direction. “Oh, yeah, that is his tight pants wearing ass.”

Jaylen stroked his goatee. “I wonder if he valet parked.”

Jalero lifted a brow. “Why? What’s on your mind?”

“I wanna catch him outside and slide his bitch ass.”

Jalero nodded, down with the plan, without a single explanation. “We can definitely make that happen.”

“For sho’. Let’s keep an eye on him. When he moves, we move. Cause I can’t let him leave without getting at him. On my mama.”
/>   Across the room, Tori gulped down a vodka tonic. He’d spotted Jaylen and Jalero the moment they’d stepped through the door. “If there was ever somebody worth putting a hit out on, it would be that arrogant self-entitled muthafucka.”

  Brad frowned in confusion. “Who?”

Tori nodded his head in Jaylen’s direction. “The taller one. The one wearing Versace.”

Brad squinted his eyes. “Aint that the cat Rye’s fucking with now?”

“Yeah, that’s him,” Tori gritted. Merely seeing Jaylen infuriated him. Contrary to what most people thought, Tori had every intention of making Rye his wife one day. She was the perfect arm-candy and could fuck his brains out, whenever the mood struck her. Yes, she strayed from time to time, but she was a good look, and he’d already mapped out his plans with her, including a couple of babies, a house, and dog. It would’ve happened too, if Jaylen hadn’t come along and stepped on his toes.

Although Tori had a plethora of women at his disposal, he still had trouble flushing Rye out of his system. Therefore, he often found himself lurking on her Instagram, where he’d learned that she was pregnant. That same night that he’d caught the news of her expecting bundle of joy, he’d wrecked his BMW, from driving intoxicated, which lead him to catching a DWI. Undoubtedly, his life was spiraling out of control. He didn’t know if it was his heart or pride, but he was wounded, as Rye moved on as if their two years together had meant nothing to her. Then to see her publicly kissing the same man who’d punched him in the mouth was humiliating. All his family, friends, and colleagues knew Rye, and were now witnessing her profess her love for someone else daily. Meanwhile, Tori was teetering on becoming an alcoholic and his relatively fresh career was on the decline.

Needless to say, Tori was bitter as hell, as he felt that Jaylen had singlehandedly snatched the rug from underneath his feet. Through research he’d learned that Jaylen’s family were comprised of notorious gangsters from the hood, so he’d been warned several times to tread lightly. However, as he gulped down drink after drink, common sense seemingly evaded him, and started in Jaylen’s direction.

“Tori, where are you going, man?” Brad questioned with a concerned expression on his face.
