My Best Friend's Brother

And when his lips nuzzled my throat, my moan turned into words—words I’d never said before to a man. “I love you, Parker.”
“God, Lanie… I never thought I’d hear you say that. I love you, too.”
Happiness welled up inside me, and I knew it was time. I had to have him inside me or I’d die.
It seemed he felt the same way. In a matter of seconds, he had me naked on the bed, my hands pinned back above my head with his thick cock lined up at my tight entrance.
I looked up into his gleaming green eyes and smiled at him. “Please… please be my first.”
My back arched as he pushed inside me and I called out his name, feeling him spread me. Open me. Become one with me.
Gently, he pulled back and then pushed in again, a little farther this time.
But it wasn’t enough. I wanted to feel him all the way in me. “Please,” I begged, and he understood.
Dipping his head, he captured my mouth in his as he pushed deep inside me again. I wrapped my legs around his, trying to pull him toward me. Wanting to keep him there and never, ever let him go.
“Make me scream, Parker.”
He paused, looking down at me with concern. “It’s your first time…”
“But it feels amazing. I want more. I need more. I need you, Parker.”
“If you’re sure,” he said, already lengthening his strokes, pushing harder and faster inside of me.
“I am,” I said, as my eyes rolled back in my head. Even as the delicious tension built up inside me, I knew there was one more thing I had to say before the waves of pleasure overcame me.
“I trust you.”
Epilogue
Lanie
ONE YEAR LATER
“Lanie, come on.”
Claire’s voice called to me across the entryway of the massive building. Even though we hadn’t been roommates in a year, we were still best friends. She’d gotten an amazing job at the company where she’d interned, and I’d just completed my first semester of graduate school. Only three more semesters, and I’d have my master’s in education and a teaching certificate.
“I’ll be there in a minute,” I said, checking my phone. Parker had taken an examine in his constitutional law course today, and I was desperate to know how it went. Though we shared an apartment, I hadn’t seen him tonight before I packed up and came back the city. He’d be joining us tomorrow, which was why Claire and I were getting in some girl time tonight.
Just like we had a year ago in New York, we’d gone on a shopping spree, and we both had new dresses and updos. It was fun to play dress up with Claire, and I was eager to dine at the revolving restaurant at the top of the seventy-five story building.
“They’re going to give up our table,” Claire said.
I put away my phone, disappointed that Parker hadn’t contacted me. I’d call him after dinner and see how things had gone.
We took an elevator to the top, and as soon as I stepped out, I was drawn by the panoramic view of the city skyline. I could never go to places like this with Parker, not with his Acrophobia.
A waiter met us, and said our table was ready.
“I’ll meet you there,” Claire said, and then asked the waiter where the restrooms were.
I followed him as he wove in between tables laid out in concentric circles. There were several empty tables over by the window, but as we got nearer, it dawned on me that he was leading me to one that wasn’t empty.
Instead, there was a man sitting there. A man with dark hair and a dark suit. A man who rose to his feet as I neared, my heart already beating faster.
“You’re here!”
“I’m here,” Parker said, leaning down to give me a kiss.
I kissed him back, but my mind was reeling. We were on the seventy-fifth floor and he was standing right by the window. “How are you doing this? Doesn’t it bother you?”
“Tell you what… I’ll answer both those questions if you let me ask one first.”
“Of course,” I said.
He gave my hand a squeeze and then let it go. “That answer has a nice ring to it,” he said as he took a step back, and then lowered himself to the ground.
On one knee.
With a little gray box in his hand.
And a shiny ring inside the box.
“Oh my God.” My voice was so faint that I barely heard it.
Parker smiled up at me, a breathtaking, heartstopping, panty-melting smile that jumped started the tears I’d been trying to blink back.
“Lanie,” he began as my tears began obscuring my vision. “You’ve been one of the few people in my life who have believed in me. Who supported me. And who loved me. I still can’t fathom how I managed to win your heart, but I am thankful every single day that I have. I want to spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you’ve made me. If you’ll have me, I’ll be the most dedicated and devoted husband I can be. Will do me the great honor of being my wife?”
Happiness filled me as I looked down at the man I loved. He thought he was the lucky one, but he wasn’t, I was. I wanted this man by my side every single day for the rest of my life. That made it an easy answer though I was so choked up I could barely get the words out.
“Of course.”
Parker grinned and leaped to his feet. He picked me up and swung me around. I held onto him, laughing and crying until he set me back on my feet and kissed me thoroughly.
Applause broke out from nearby, and a voice called out “You forgot to put the ring on her finger, dummy.”
Parker ignored his kid sister until he was done ravishing my mouth. Then he stepped back and slipped the beautiful diamond onto my ring finger.
The cheering continued, and when I looked up, it was to see not only Claire but also her parents, my parents, and some of Parker and my new classmates.
Champagne was brought out, and the quiet dinner with my best friend morphed into an engagement party. The Grants told me how happy they were that I’d officially be part of the family now, and my parents complimented Parker on his choice of rings.
There was a lot of food and drink, and in my case, a lot of tears. I couldn’t help it. I cried so many tears of joy that I had to keep dashing to the restroom to fix my makeup.
After one such trip, Parker was waiting for me. He pulled me into a tight hug and then we stood side by side, admiring the skyline outside the window.
Shaking my head, I looked back and forth from his handsome face to the view out the window. “How did you do this?”
He knew exactly what I meant. “I worked at it. I told you a long time ago that we’re good for each other. And being with you makes me want to be the best version of myself I can be.”
I kissed him. “You’re amazing. But I still don’t get how.”
“I had some help,” he admitted. “There’s a counselling center at the university, and they have a course you can take on conquering various fears. I’ve been attending every Thursday night.”
“You told me you were going to the law library!”
“I lied,” he said with a devilish wink. But then he got more serious. “I can’t say I love being up here, but I’m coping. They give you a lot of different strategies to help you deal with the fear.”
“I’m so proud of you.”
He kissed me and then handed me an envelope. “I got this for you.”
I laughed as I took it. “As if this incredibly gorgeous ring wasn’t enough.”
“We’ll just see if you’re still smiling when you open it.”
Puzzled, I slit the envelope open with my fingernail. Inside was a certificate for ten classes at the counseling center he’d just mentioned.
“They also have classes for people with Arachnophobia.”
“They do?” Already I could feel my body tense up at the thought of spiders, but Parker just took me in his arms.
“You don’t have to, but I think your life might be a little easier if you weren’t so afraid of them.” He stroked my hai
r. “You’re such a strong woman. You’re going to be an amazing high school teacher. And an amazing wife. And if you want to be, an amazing mother. A woman as strong as you can do anything you set your mind to. Including this.”
“Including what?” I hadn’t seen Claire come up behind us. “Jeesh, get a room guys,” she said when she saw we were still embracing.
I laughed and then explained about the classes Parker had gotten me.
Claire punched Parker in the arm. “That’s not a very romantic engagement gift for my favorite sister-in-law.”
Delight filled me as I realized that Claire and I would truly be family after this. I gave her a quick hug and told her I’d meet her back at the table. As much as I loved her, she was wrong about one thing. I held up the envelop that Parker had given me and smiled up at him. “Actually, it is perfect. You’re perfect.”
“No,” he said, taking me into his arms again and holding me tight. “We’re prefect together.”
