The nurse frowned. "It's not policy-"

Glancing at her name tag, Silas said, "I know, Nurse Adams, but they were there and helped to rescue Troy and Chester."

  "I'm not promising anything."

"I'll tell the doctor I sneaked them in."

Sighing, the nurse nodded, pointing her finger at Silas. "Okay, but I had nothing to do with it."

"Nothing at all." Silas kept a straight face. "Thank you for all your help, Nurse Adams."

Nurse Adams gave him a quick grin then blanked her features. Pointing at the door behind them, she said, "Mr. Monroe is in there waiting for you."

  "Thank you."

Silas opened the door and stepped in, closing it behind him. Chester lifted his head up from his hands and quickly stood.

  "Silas."

Silas strode over to him and pulled him into a tight hug. "Shit, Chester. You two scared ten damn years off me."

"We're fine. Troy's strong and sensible. He'll be okay."

"Surgery, shit. No parent wants to sit around while their kid’s having an operation."

"You're not alone, Silas. I'm here with you."

  "And the others."

Just as Silas spoke, the door burst open and Ale, Donnie, and Jared rushed in.

  "Chester-"

  "How's Troy?"

  "Thank fuck!"

Chester lifted his hand to stop the questions. "I'm okay, yeah, and Troy will be fine once they fix his leg."

"So it is fractured?" Ale asked, walking over to them and sitting in one of the plastic chairs available. "Shit chairs," he muttered.

"Displaced fracture of the tibia," Chester told him.

"No other bones were broken?" This question from Jared.

  "No." Chester shook his head.

"Lucky kid," Donnie muttered, leaning back against the wall.

"So, now we wait," Silas murmured, leaning into Chester for support.

  "We wait."

  Chapter Fifteen

Several hours later, Silas and Chester stood in a recovery room watching Troy come around from the anesthetics. The surgeon came in, smiling as he walked over to them.

"Surgery went well, and I'm expecting a full recovery. Mr. Monroe is young and healthy, so I would say you're looking at around four months of recovery. I would recommend starting physical therapy as soon as he can."

Silas nodded, holding his hand out to shake the surgeon’s. "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome. My details are on the forms, so if you have any questions, please contact me."

The surgeon left the room and Silas stood next to Troy's bed, watching the nurse check his vitals. It wasn't long before Troy groaned and his eyelids fluttered open.

  "Pops," he croaked.

Silas reached for Troy's hand, holding it in his own. "I'm here, son."

  "Thirsty."

Silas glanced over at the nurse who gave him a cup with ice in it. "Only a small amount."

Silas took a piece. "Here, Troy."

Troy opened his mouth and moaned when the ice touched his tongue. "That's so much better."

  "How are you feeling?"

  "Like shit, Pops."

  "Troy," Silas warned.

"Pops, I broke my leg and was stuck up on a mountain and then once I was airlifted to the hospital, they operated on me. I feel like shit. I'm so not looking forward to the meds wearing off."

Troy closed his eyes, and his breathing deepened. Silas reached over and smoothed his dark hair away from his head. He sat next to the bed, holding Troy's hand in his.

Chester pulled up a chair and sat next to him, both remaining silent. At some point, Troy was moved to a ward and Silas and Chester went home, promising Troy they'd be back the following day.

Troy had fallen asleep before they'd left and the nurse had promised Silas she would call him if anything happened. He still didn't want to leave, but Troy needed to sleep.

Chester drove them home, and when they walked in, the house was strangely silent. Maybe it was knowing that Troy was in the hospital, not in his room or barging around the house causing chaos, and there wasn’t much Silas could do.

Silas collapsed on the sofa and finally let go of the tight rein he'd had on his emotions. He dropped his head in his hands, his shoulders shaking as the tears fell, and when Chester hugged him, he went willingly, needing the comfort of his mate.

Chester never said anything, but Silas could feel his love through their bond. When he finally stopped, he lifted his head and Chester kissed him.

"I could have lost both of you," he murmured brokenly.

"Shh, you didn't. We're both safe, and soon Troy will be back home making us both his slaves."

Silas chuckled, nodding his head. "Yeah, ordering us around."

"Cause he can't do it with a broken leg." Chester smiled. "He's probably plotting what he can make us do right now."

Silas smiled and reached out to touch Chester's face. "Thank you for saving him."

  "He's my son too, Silas."

Silas leaned over and rested their foreheads together. "He is, Chester."

"Come on. Let's go to bed. It's been a long and emotional day, and you need to rest before Troy gets home."

Silas let Chester lead him to their bedroom and watched as he stripped him. "When are you moving in?"

Chester glanced over at him. "Whenever you want."

"Tomorrow. We'll go and get what you need tomorrow."

"I'll rent my place out too."

Silas nodded and got into bed, pulling the covers over both of them when Chester joined him. He snuggled into Chester's side, sighing deeply and closing his eyes.

"I love you, Chester. I know I haven't been the easiest of mates, but you have no idea how grateful I am that you waited for me to pull my head from my ass."

Chester chuckled. "You were worth the wait, Silas. I know you've had a difficult time and Troy is your priority. I understand that, Silas."

Silas leaned up and kissed Chester slowly but thoroughly. "Love you," he muttered against Chester's full lips.

"I love you too, Silas. Go to sleep and tomorrow we'll visit our son."

  * * *

Chester hid a grin as he watched Silas and Troy argue. Troy had been home a week, and they were already fighting. Sure, everything had been okay for the first few days, but the inactivity was getting to Troy and he was taking it out on Silas.

"Pops! I can't walk. I broke my leg!"

"That doesn't make you an invalid. You've got crutches, boy, use them."

"What if I fall and break my other leg?

"You'd have to get up off your lazy ass to risk that!"

"But I've got a broken leg! A broken leg! I can't do anything. I'm disabled."

"Now wait just a fucking minute, Troy Bailey." Silas glared at Troy and Chester had to turn away before he burst out laughing. "You are not disabled, and I know for a fact that there are disabled people out there who work damn fucking hard." Pointing at Troy, Silas added, "Stand up and be a man, or vampire, and Move. Your. Ass."

"Pops. Don't you care anymore? I'm injured," Troy whined. "Look at my leg."

"You'll be looking at the floor while I spank your ass in a minute. You're not too old for it, Troy."

"I'm fucking eighteen, and that's child abuse."

  "You're an adult!" Silas roared.

At this point, Chester stepped in. "Why don't we all calm down and have a coffee?" Two sets of eyes glared at him, and Chester smiled as he stepped back. "Or maybe not."

"I'll make the coffee. You talk to your son!" Silas stormed out of the living room, and Chester looked at Troy, who was smirking.

  "Troy."

"Dad," Troy said in a singsong voice.

Chester chuckled. "You can be a little shit at times. You know all Silas wants for you is to get better."

Troy shrugged. "I've got to milk it for as long as I can. I'm going to college soon."

"So, don't you want to enjoy the time you have with Silas before you go?"
/>
"Stop making sense, Chester, it's annoying." Troy sighed. "I hate feeling like this, you know. I can't do anything."

"As a vampire, we might be able to cut down your recovery time to three months or less, but it will mean getting off your ass."

  "Really?" Troy said hopefully. "How?"

"Exercise and regular feedings. When I was shot, I was close to death, but Silas' blood saved me."

  "But Pops is your mate."

"Yeah, but as a vampire, having access to his blood sped up my recovery time. Trust me, Troy, exercise, blood, and a good healthy diet will get you back on your feet. And anyway, don't you want to be back on your feet for your birthday?"

Troy sighed but nodded. "Okay. I'll try."

"Coffee and a coke for you," Silas said as he returned from the kitchen.

Troy smiled and took the can. "Thanks, Pops."

Silas grunted. "Be nice now, Troy. What do you want?"

"Pops! I'm hurt. How could you think such a thing?"

Chester burst out laughing. "You two are funny. Silas, Troy has agreed to do physical therapy with me, but it will be slow. He needs to let the bone heal to the point it can take his weight without causing further injury. He's a vampire so with a proper diet and regular feedings, he'll get there sooner."

"See, Pops. I'm going to be walking soon."

"Great. No more listening to you whine then."

"Remember when you broke your arm? Man, you whined like a-"

  "Troy!"

"Oh my god, Silas. You broke your arm?" Chester asked.

"Yeah and complained every day," Troy told him gleefully. "You should have heard him-"

  "Troy. That will be enough."

"But, Pops, I haven't even started!"

"Go to your room." Silas pointed at the stairs.

"How?" Troy pointed to his wheelchair.

Chester could actually hear Silas grind his teeth. "Why don't we go out back on the porch and I'll put the grill on and cook us some food."

"Steak. Bloody," Silas said, glaring at Troy.

Troy ignored the stare and wheeled himself out of the living room. Chester stepped in front of Silas and smiled.

"He sure knows how to rile you up, mate."

Silas growled. "Damn kid was born to make me mad."

"Of course he was. He's your son."

Silas grunted. "Damn straight he is."

Chester laughed when Silas walked away and quickly dodged the cushion that Silas threw at him.

He paused, looking around his home, and smiled. He had everything he'd ever wanted; a mate, a wonderful son, and a warm and loving home.

When he heard shouting start from the back, he grinned. Yeah, he loved living here.

  Epilogue

  Two months later

Chester laughed, watching Silas and Troy argue over the grill. He sat next to Alejandro who had a huge grin on his face.

"Are they always like this?" Ale asked, watching the pair argue.

"Pretty much. It's fun to watch."

Ale snorted. "I bet it is."

"No, it is. They'll argue and then forget about it. I think Troy is trying to get all the arguments in before he leaves for college. I know Silas is going to miss him."

  "You too."

"Fuck, yeah. I have a great son." Leaning back in his chair, he asked, "What about you? No man on the scene?"

"Nah. Blew the last one off."

  Chester snorted.

"Shut up. He was too whiny and demanding."

"Maybe you should stop going for needy boys, and maybe, you know, have an actual relationship."

  "I have a type that I like and I don’t do relationships."

"Yeah, we know. Blond, brown eyes and very short."

Ale shrugged. "It's what gets my dick hard." Ale smiled, watching Donnie and Jeremy. "So, you and Silas."

"We're great. Better than I ever hoped. He's perfect for me."

"Even your kink?" Ale knew Chester like no one else, well, accept his mate.

"Yeah." Chester grinned, remembering the night before. Silas had fucked him while dressed in his uniform. That was after arresting him and punishing him.

  "That grin says a lot."

  "We have fun."

"Are you going to introduce him to any clubs?"

"We've talked about it. I want to take him to a few demonstrations first, but he's willing." Chester smiled watching Silas and Troy hug. "I have everything I wanted, Ale."

He did, and he would be forever grateful. A mate, a son, and a home. What more could he ask for?

  * * *

Ale walked into the kitchen, laughing at Chester and Silas. It was great to see them both happy and at ease with their mating. They'd had a few bumps along the way, but now that everything had settled, they were great together.

Troy was leaving for college in a few days, so they were throwing a party for him. Ale had yet to meet him; as soon as Troy had seen him for the first time, he'd disappeared.

He stumbled a little and grinned. Maybe he should have stopped a beer or two ago. Finally, finding the bathroom door, he turned the handle, but it didn't open.

"Five minutes," came a muffled voice from inside. Sacha.

  "More like ten, Sach." Jared.

Ale shook his head and walked up the stairs, opening the first door on the left he came across. He knew that the door on the right was Silas and Chester’s room.

Not paying attention, he staggered into the bathroom to take a piss and moaned when he emptied his bladder.

Flushing the toilet, he washed his hands and walked back into the bedroom, stopping when he saw Troy.

  "Hey, kid. What's up?"

Troy didn't say anything but stood and stepped closer until they almost touched.

"Why do you smell so good?" he asked, leaning closer to sniff at Ale's neck.

Ale pushed him back. "Hey, stop that kid."

"I'm not a kid. I'm a man." Grabbing Ale's hand, he pushed it onto his hard dick.

Ale snatched his hand back. "What the fuck are you playing at?"

Troy opened his eyes, and Ale stepped back. The red glowed in them and Ale couldn't look away.

His back was slammed into the wall behind him, and he instinctively reached out and grabbed Troy by the shoulders, trying to push him away.

Troy knocked them off and leaned against him, their bodies touching, and Ale tried again to move away.

"Stop it, kid. I'm too old, and your dad would kill me."

Troy ignored him and sniffed along his neck again. "Smell good."

"If you need to feed, I'm sure there's blood somewhere." Troy fisted his hair, tilting his head to one side, and Ale struggled to get free. "No, Troy."

  "Can't stop. Got to-"

Ale jerked when Troy's fangs sank into his neck, and his vision faded out. In the distance, he could hear moaning followed by the sounds of clothes tearing, then he cried out, a tight heat wrapping around him.

The most powerful orgasm he'd ever had flooded through his body, and he bucked at the weight on top of him, trying to get closer, wanting to prolong the deep, intense connection as reality disappeared.

At some point, Ale became aware of sunlight filtering in through the blinds, and he blinked, turning his head away. The weight on top of him moved, sliding off, and he looked at the person next to him.

  "Troy," he whispered.

Troy lay curled on his side, his body shuddering, and Ale could feel his pain.

Sitting up, he gripped his shoulder, pulling him over and staring into his tear-streaked face.

Troy blinked up at him, then whispered, "I'm sorry."

Ale straightened and finally glanced around the room and then back at them.

Their clothes were strewn around, and they were both naked. Ale's heart pounded in his chest, sweat breaking out over his body and he swallowed hard.

  "Did I-"

  "No, you didn't."

  "But, we had sex, yeah?"

  Troy nodded.

  "Fu
ck, I don't... shit. Fuck, Troy, I'm sorry."

"You don't feel it, but you will," he muttered brokenly.

Ale opened his mouth then closed it slowly when he realized what had happened. "Mates?" he whispered, incredulously.

"I didn't know. I just knew I had to feed from you and... have... you."

Ale sat there unable to say a word. His mind was a chaotic mess as images of them together flooded in along with Troy’s despair and pain. Fuck, he didn't want this.

He shook his head and moved further away. "Troy..."

"I know you don't want me," Troy muttered. "I can feel how revolted you are about it."

"It's not that. I'm almost as old as your dad! We can't be mates. I'm no fucking good for you."

"We are." Troy moved off the bed and stood naked with his back to Ale. "I'm sorry you feel this way, and I wish it could be anyone but you." Troy straightened his shoulders. "Get dressed and get out. We can forget this happened and we don't have to see each other again."

Ale shook his head. "I'm not stupid, Troy. I know you need my blood-"

  "Ship it to the college."

  "What about sex, Troy?"

Troy shrugged, still facing away. "I'll figure something out."

  "Troy-"

Troy spun around and glared at him, his eyes flashing red. "I know you don't want me, okay. I know this is a huge fucking inconvenience to you. I can feel it—" Troy punched his chest "—here. So, get dressed and fuck off."

"At least tell me you've had sex."

Troy snorted. "Well, I have now. Thanks for that."

Ale dropped his head into his hands. Fuck, a virgin. "Troy-"

Troy got in his face and muttered, "Get the fuck out." His eyes glowed red when he spoke, and Ale finally nodded.

"Okay, but we need to sort out blood-"

"I'll message you and let you know when I need it. I can supplement from other blood sources. Get it bagged and sent to me."

Ale nodded and dressed quickly. When he reached the bedroom door, he turned to Troy. "Troy, I'm-"

"If you say you're sorry, I'm gonna lose my shit."

Ale stared at him for a long time, but neither spoke, and eventually, he nodded again and left the room.
