Makin’ the Cut Page 9

by Rennie Rivera

I sit back a little, considering he just said. “So you’re saying for us to just enjoy each other without all the emotions or commitment?”

He nods. “You’re the captain of this ship and you decide its course. Now, come sit and enjoy your favorite movie.”

I sit back again against the pillows to watch the movie., I snuggle up to Lukah, strongly considering what he’s suggested. It makes more sense for us that way, then I don’t have to feel bad about kissing him or the dirty thoughts either. Deciding it’s a great idea, I put my head on his shoulder and wind up falling asleep sometime during the part where Baby and Johnny are practicing the lift.

  Lukah

She’s so beautiful. I know she’s had a long and eventful day. I’m thankful at how well today has gone for us. Sure, we agreed to keep things friendly, and I’m content with whatever she’s willing to give. I meant what I said when I told her I won’t force her or push her to do anything she doesn’t want or isn’t ready to do.

She’s driving this train. I’m just along for the ride, no matter how long the journey. I think us spending time together and getting to know each other will help strengthen our bond for if we do wander into relationship territory. After talking to Fia tonight and learning the truth behind her heartbreak, I’m even more determined to give her the time and space she needs. I hope this Gavin douche and I never cross paths.

Suddenly my thoughts are interrupted by her movement. She seems to be having a hard time getting comfortable, so I decide to carry her to bed. I’ll tuck her in and come sleep on the couch. I need to show her I mean what I say. I slowly pull myself from under her. Trying not to wake her, I turn off the tv and put the popcorn bowl on the table.

I slowly lift her from the floor, then proceed to walk slowly down the hall to her room, all while gazing at her in awe of her raw beauty. I don’t think she even sees it. As I lay her in her bed and begin to walk away after tucking her in, she grabs my arm.

  “Stay, please stay with me.”

“Are you sure? I really don’t mind sleeping on the couch.”

She nods her head and lifts the blanket for me to crawl in. I lay on my back, almost nervous to be lying in bed so close to this goddess of a woman. No sooner than I settle in, she nuzzles up against me, laying her head in the crook of my arm, throwing her leg over mine and laying her hand on my chest. Normally I’d freak out because I don’t do sleepovers, but this, this just feels right. As I watch her fall into a deeper sleep, I revel in the comfort of her in my arms as I too slide off to sleep.

  SAVANNAH

I wake up a little confused as to how I’m in my bed. Then I roll over and see Lukah. I start to freak out a little, but then remember him tucking me in and me asking, almost begging, him to stay with me. I’m shocked I was so needy last night, but even more shocked I feel content and so comfortable with him.

They say when you meet someone meant to be in your life, you can feel it in your soul. Now I’m not saying he’s ‘the one’ but he seems to be someone who is meant to be in my life. So, I’ll sit back and let fate or whoever is controlling this roller coaster of emotions play their hand.

I lay watching him sleep while thinking of how natural this all feels. I need to still be leery, so for now I’ll continue to fight the attraction and just enjoy the company. Suddenly he rolls towards me.

He kisses my forehead, “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Good morning, sleepy head. I was just about to get up and make some coffee. Would you care to join me?”

“Sure, I’d love some coffee. It’s my kryptonite.”

“Oh my gawd, me too. I can’t function if I don’t have at least one cup.”

I get up out of bed. “How do you like it? Cream? Sugar?” I walk down the hall to the kitchen, not waiting for an answer and not without noticing the living room is back in order. “Did you do this? You didn’t have to clean up.”

He nods as he joins me in the kitchen.

“I take it light and sweet by the way. I know I didn’t have to, but I wanted to. I straightened up before I carried you to bed. I knew you had a long day, so I just thought I’d help you out a little. You were pretty tired too. You didn’t even make it to the end of the movie.”

I stand staring at him, wondering where the hell this guy came from. He was a complete gentleman last night and didn’t even try to make a move. Definitely too good to be true, too perfect.

“Okay, spill. What’s wrong with you? What’s your flaw? What’s it you really want? What are you up to?” I suddenly snap at him.

“Excuse me?” He chuckles. “What do you mean?”

“You’re just too good to be true. You seem too perfect. You’ve had numerous chances to get me into bed and haven’t. I mean, you slept in my bed with me last night and didn’t even try anything, at all, all night. You’ve graciously accepted that I’m just looking for friendship right now and not wanting to rush into anything without any argument.”

He looks at me like a deer in headlights.

I continue. “And if there’s anything I’ve learned from my past relationship, because to be honest I’ve only had one, and it was one that taught me a lot. It’s definitely taught me that no one is who they seem to be. They always want more than they initially lead me to believe. So, what is that you, Lukah, secretly want but have yet to reveal? Let’s put all our cards on the table. Because frankly I don’t have the time nor emotional strength for games.”

I stand there for a moment staring at him, waiting for him to answer. I see the shock on his face as he sits down at the table.

After what seems like forever, he replies. “I can see why you’d think that I’m up to something. And subconsciously I may be, I don’t know. Please don’t be mad, but Sofia filled me in last night about Gavin.”

I take a step back, bumping into the counter. The mere mention of that name still feels like a punch in the gut. “What do you mean?”

He gets up from the table, walking to me and placing one hand on my hip and the other lifts my chin so I’m looking up at him.

“She told me how you caught that waste of oxygen cheating on you with your skanky roommate. She told me how he led you to believe he’d marry you and that he was just a big piece of shit.”

I gulp as I nod at his description of my ex and his new twatosaurus.

  “Yes, he shattered my heart.”

He looks at me for a moment and then kisses me. I’m talking about the slow, sensual, soft, sexy, make your toes curl kind of kiss. The heat consumes my core. My entire body quivers. I’ve never been kissed like that before.

He slowly pulls away and gazes into my eyes. “I know you’re broken. I know you’ve got trust issues. I know you aren’t ready for anything more than friendship. I feel this magnetic pull to you, and I’m very sexually attracted to you.”

He slowly moves his hips where I can feel his hardness through his shorts rubbing against me. A moan escapes my lips before I can stop it.

He smiles. “But know that I’m patient and willing to wait. I’ll not ever push you to do anything before you’re ready. I actually like the idea of us waiting to proceed past friendship. I want to use this chance to prove to you that not all men are like that. I’m not like that. With that being said, I must also tell you that others will try to push us together faster than you’re ready. But don’t let them get to you. We’re moving at your pace, Savy.”

I’m shocked, completely shocked. This is not how I was expecting this to go. I’m so used to men having only one goal. Shit, even Gavin had a goal.

  Suddenly my door swings open.

“Rise and shine, babes. We have another brunch in a little while. We all know how you like to take your sweet time getting ready,” Fia says as she walks through the door, stopping abruptly and staring in shock. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you had company. And from the looks of your faces, I’ve interrupted something. Good morning, Lukah, you’re here early. Or did you
never leave?” she asks as she winks at me.

My ears burn as embarrassment sets in. “Good morning, Fia. Yes he slept over. And yes, you’re interrupting a serious conversation. Maybe giving you that key wasn’t the best idea. You’re only supposed to use it in cases of an emergency.”

“You skanky hoe, ’bout time you got some dick!” She giggles. “But your conversation will have to wait. As your personal assistant, it’s my job to make sure you aren’t late for any appointments or meetings. Besides, you know how Momma is if we’re late, and it’s your turn to get dessert.”

I start to laugh. “Sofia Maria, it’s not my turn, it’s yours, and I can only assume you have no ideas and are hoping I’ll yet again save you. Also, I’m not a skanky hoe. We fell asleep watching a movie and he was a perfect gentleman. He’s respecting my choice of wanting to take it slow and get to know each other.” I look at her a little more seriously. “I mean, you did tell him all about how Gavin crushed me. You told him how naïve I was.”

A look of shock and embarrassment crosses Fia’s face. “Yeah sorry, lovebug. I just wanted him to know why Rhen is so overbearing and why we all kinda coddle you. Why you’re so standoffish too.”

I look from her to him and then back to her. “I appreciate it, I do.” I walk over and give her a hug. “But it’ll all work itself out in the end. I choose to let fate take the reins. We’re going to take things one day at a time.” Then I turn her around and push her out the door. “Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to shower and get ready for brunch. And don’t worry, we’ll stop and get some cannoli. It’s Momma’s favorite.”

She turns around, hands in the air in defeat. “Okay, okay, I get it.” Laughing she continues, “But for future reference, let’s put a scrunchie on the outer doorknob so I don’t walk in on anything.” She sticks out her tongue and waves bye as I close the door.

I turn to look at Lukah and he’s laughing. “Well, isn’t she subtle /”

“Not in the least. Sorry about her. She’s persistent if nothing else. So, do you want to shower first?”

“Don’t apologize. I think it’s cute. She’s just being nosy while looking out for you. No harm done. I’m sure Izzy will do about the same stuff. Sofia reminds me of her. I love it.”

“Well I can’t wait to meet her on Tuesday.”

He smiles. “I’ll clean up here. Why don’t you go ahead and shower first.”

“Actually, we can shower at the same time,”

He turns slowly, in shock. “Excuse me? Come again?”

I think about my statement and realize exactly how it sounded.

Wide-eyed I look at him, “Shit, I’m sorry that came out so wrong. What I meant to say is I have two showers and because this is an apartment building, we don’t have to worry about running out of hot water and can shower at the same time.” I chuckle awkwardly trying to play it off.

He looks at me with a fire in his eyes. “I’m good with either option.”

“Okay, great. I’ll shower in my bathroom and you can use the guest bathroom. There are towels in the linen closet in the hall along with shampoo and all the other essentials too. It may smell fruity, but I only own girly products. Sorry.”

He nods. “Thank you. And don’t be sorry. Shampoo is shampoo to me. See you in a few then.”

After about twenty minutes, I finished. I wrap a towel around me and walk into my room, caught off guard by Lukah standing there, rummaging through his bag. He must’ve sensed me or something because he quickly stands straight up and spins around. I hold my towel to ensure it doesn’t fall.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I meant to be out of here before you came out. I just needed to grab my clothes. Totally forgot them before I got into the shower.”

I walk past him. “I was just surprised. No worries.”

I sit down on the bed as he leans down into his bag again. I don’t know what the hell has come over me, but I kiss him. We’re both in nothing but a towel and the sight makes me so wet. I release my towel so that I can run my fingers through his hair, only to remember that now there’s nothing holding it up.

He pulls back for a moment, not breaking eye contact. “I don’t want to push you, but I want to give you some pleasure, asking nothing in return. Lie back on the bed.”

I look at him for a moment before doing as he asks. Still without breaking eye contact, he slowly slides his hand down my torso to my legs, urging me to open them. I slowly conform to his request and open my legs. I feel his fingers brush the inside of my thigh as he slowly makes his way to my entrance, touching ever so lightly.

I’m fighting the urge to rip his towel from his waist and beg him to fuck me. I bite my lip and watch him work his way to my core. He slips in one finger and begins to rub my clit with his thumb as he slides in and out of my pussy. I clamp my hands around his muscular biceps as he slides in another digit and starts to move faster. He looks me in the eyes.

“That’s it, let go. Come for me, baby. Let me see you fall apart on my hand. Mmm, so fuckin sexy.”

“Mmm oh god. Lukah!” I moan in ecstasy as I near my climax.

  He thrusts harder and faster.

“Fuck, Lukah. I’m gonna cum. Oh shit. Fuck, fuck, fuck,” I cry out as I reach the abyss of pleasure.

He slows his fingers before removing them. I lay trying to catch my breath, suddenly feeling a little exposed. As though he can read my mind, Lukah hands me my towel.

He licks his fingers. “Oh pretty girl, you don’t need to feel self-conscious. You’re absolutely gorgeous, inside and out. A sexy, tasty little minx.”

I look up at him in complete awe, before I pull him into another heavenly kiss. God, he is so intoxicating.

He pulls back and looks up at the clock on my nightstand. “Come on, baby doll, let’s get dressed. Don’t wanna keep Momma waiting.”

I sigh. “But what about you?” I reach down to touch him.

He arches his eyebrow and grabbing my wrist to stop me. “Baby doll, I admit, watching you unfold at just my touch has me aching for you, but this wasn’t about me. Now get dressed please, or I may not be able to remain a gentleman much longer. Especially with you laying there looking so gorgeous in nothing but a smile. I’m going to run and get dressed. So, hurry up. We’ve got to stop and get Momma some cannoli.”

I nod and he leaves the room to go get dressed. I lay back on the bed for a moment thinking I. Am. So. Fucked.

This being friends and taking it slow is going to be harder than I thought.

  Lukah

I sit on the couch waiting for Savy to finish getting ready while thinking of the morning’s events. I love the way she looked when I brought her to ecstasy. She’s absolutely gorgeous, and I love how she responds to my touch. This woman is going to drive me completely mad. The way she says my name as she falls over the edge is so sexy. I respect her boundaries though; I’ll let her make the next move. I need her to know she can trust me.

Maybe I need to be more honest with her in order to earn that trust. I think I should tell her about Pops’ stipulations. I don’t want her to find out some other way and think I’m trying to seduce her into anything. Of course, the entire idea is preposterous, but if I want to continue on as the CEO and run his company, I have to respect his wishes too. I don’t want to scare her off thinking I’m only out to keep control of my company. I want her to know I’m growing quite fond of her and find myself attached already.

“Penny for your thoughts,” she says, interrupting my thoughts.

I look at up her. Her beauty stuns me. “I was just thinking about Pops. He always found a way to have the last laugh, even in death apparently.”

I jump up from the couch and eye her from head to toe. She looks fabulous in her cute little red striped halter top that shows her sexy, pierced belly button, matched with a sexy pair of hip-hugging white capris and some cute corked wedges.

“Wow, you look stunning. I feel underdressed. Should I go change?” I ask in a low, al
most whisper tone.

She looks down. “Please, this is just an everyday outfit. You look great. Definitely dressed comfortably. Maybe I should change.”

“No, please don’t do that. You look amazing. Shall we go?” I ask in response.

She nods and grabs her purse from the table as we head out the door. As we ride the elevator down, she bites her lower lip and fidgets.

  “What’s wrong? You look nervous.”

She looks up at me with such innocence. “Well, I was thinking about what happened this morning.” She blushes as she continues. “And how it completely changes things. I mean, I still want to spend time getting to know each other. I don’t want to rush into any type of relationship, but I also want to explore things further.”

I pull her hand into mine to help calm her fidgeting.

She takes a deep breath. “I really like you, but I also don’t want to jeopardize my chances in the competition. I’m so afraid that pursuing things with you will ruin my chances because people will think you pulled strings for me rather than it being based on my designs alone. I don’t know what to do. Does that make sense?”

I nod, letting her words sink in. We jump in her car and head toward her momma’s house in silence.

After a few moments, I answer. “I don’t want to rush things either. I’ve already told you I’m willing to move at your speed and I meant that. This morning was me just wanting to give you some pleasure and release. I don’t expect anything in return. As for the competition, no one needs to know of our personal connection.”

She starts biting her bottom lip as if she’s anxious or nervous.

I grasp her hand in mine. “I’ll keep it strictly platonic in front of the other contestants and judges. I have faith that you’ll take this competition by storm. The judges aren’t going to know what hit them when your designs hit the stage! You’re a truly unique fashion designer.”
