“Of course! I wouldn’t miss your wedding for the world.” Shweta said to Vienna as she turned to greet Ashley.
“You must be Ashley. I have heard so much about you.” Ashley shook Shweta’s hand as Vienna jumped in to explain,
“Ash, this is Shweta. A friend, former client. Remember, I told you about her, she fought her family and came out of the closet and left her husband about six months ago. Now she is here with her girlfriend.” Vienna introduced Shweta as Ashley smiled, finally understanding.
“All because of your amazing fiancé.” Shweta pointed to Vienna.
“It’s great to meet you, Shweta. That’s very brave of you to do what you did. It’s not easy to break shackles, especially when they get old.” Ashley said as the trio talked for a while.
“Oh, Vienna, I thought I’d never see you again.” This time a male voice greeted the two and a rather chirpy one–It was Elijah.
“Oh, hey, Mr. Matthews, good to see you again too.”
Vienna said rather awkwardly.
“I am so very sorry I couldn’t make it to your party, I had an emergency work thing.” She explained, pre-empting what he was about to ask.
“Well, we definitely missed you, but glad that you are finally back. You two look beautiful. Congratulations on the wedding once again.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic party, but I won’t even credit you, Ashley, because that’s basically your entire life.” He continued with a loud chuckle as the two ladies smiled.
“I am glad you are enjoying yourself, Elijah,” Ashley replied politely as he left.
“He probably missed me more than you did.” Vienna chipped, looking at Ashley as the two did not laugh, but their eyes did.
“Oh, here are the lovebirds, glued together.” the two recognized it was Chloe’s voice without even turning back.
“Hey Chloe, have you seen Trisha? I have been looking for her.” Ashley was asked with a frown as she looked around the area.
“No, I haven’t seen her for a while, either. I thought she was with you.” Chloe replied as she looked around, searching for Trisha.
“How are you, ladies!” Trisha exclaimed, walking towards them with a big smile on her face.
“Hey, Trish. Where have you been?” Ashley asked her.
“Uh, sorry, I had something very important to taken care of. But hey, no time for the story, we are running pretty late, and there are tons of things to do.” Trisha replied hurriedly.
“Yeah, you two need to separate for now and shall see each other at the wedding vows!” She continued dragging Ashley away from Vienna.
“Yeah don’t worry; you don’t have to fly to Paris to get her this time,” Chloe spoke, making everyone laugh. She dragged Vienna to her separate dressing room and got to work
The wedding was held at Wave Hill.
Being the most peaceful place in the city, Vienna and Ashley had been more than thrilled to announce it as their wedding venue as it made a breathtaking spot to exchange vows.
The regal, vine-covered pergola, overlooking the Hudson River, practically begged to become an altar.
Ashley and Vienna walked down the aisle together, hand in hand as the music sounded off.
Guests sat on either side of them and looked at the couple with warm smiles.
Ashley wore a smart white three-piece suit and was dapper as ever with a pink rose in her lapel.
Ashley couldn’t tear her eyes away from Vienna. She looked exquisite in her lace sleeved tulle wedding gown with a deep lace-covered neckline. It was backless. Her hair was in braids and waves, small pink roses braided into her hair.
She looked perfect, and Ashley’s eyes filled with tears when she saw her.
The priest began the vows, and Ashley and Vienna held each other’s hands, never tearing their eyes apart.
“I now pronounce you partners in life.”
They kissed. Their mouths meeting, wanting, knowing how right this was.
Chloe and Trisha, the two best women, stood by the happy couple’s side as the ceremony ended and then immediately tackled them for hugs.
They moved to the area where the rest of the arrangements were made, and the newly married couple cut their wedding cake as everyone cheered.
Following the cake, it was time for the dance. Ashley turned to Vienna
“Would you join me for a dance, Mrs. Davidson?” she lovingly asked Vienna, making her grin and place her hand in Ashley’s.
“I would love to, Mrs. Davidson,” Vienna answered.
The two ladies walked towards the floor and began to dance as Elvis Presley’s voice came through the speakers.
Wise men say,
Only fools rush in.
But I can’t help,
Falling in love with you…
“I love this song!” Vienna squealed as she heard it play.
Ashley let out a chuckle and kissed her nose.
“I know. That’s why I chose it.” She told Vienna, gazing into her eyes lovingly.
“I love you,” Vienna told her as she pulled Ashley in for a kiss.
“I love you too,” Ashley replied after they pulled back and resumed their dance.
The Next Day
“Where are we going?” Ashley was puzzled.
“Doesn’t it feel like we are seventeen again? Sneaking out to get alcohol.” Vienna was in a zone as Ashley rolled her eyes.
“You know this place very well. Relax!” She continued, looking at Ashley as the engine revved.
And she was right, the road lead to the beach house she used to come to as a kid and owned now.
“Doesn’t it feel great! We are finally married.” Vienna sighed, dreamily as they stood by Ashley’s favorite spot with a wide smile on Ashley’s face.
“You know, what’s the best way to let go of bad memories connected to a place? Replace it with amazing memories at the same place.” Vienna told Ashley, grabbing her hand.
“Thank you for everything. Thank you for just being in my life. You make everything so much better, V.” Ashley’s sentence was interrupted by a phone call.
“Why is Joanna calling?” She wondered aloud as she picked the phone.
“Hello, ma’am. Sorry to disturb you, but there is news about Paul Carter. He has been caught by the police for fraud and blackmail. You had an ongoing deal with him. The police have taken from him some photos and deleted them from his hard drive. They said, would you like the photos, or would you like them destroyed? Is it sorted, or should I involve our lawyers?” Joanna said on the line.
“Oh, I see. No, Joanna, my deal with him is sorted. Inform the police to destroy the photos. You don’t have to worry. I’ll see you when I am back at the office. Thank you for informing me.” Ashley tried to hide the pleasant shock she got from the news.
“Okay, ma’am. Have a great honeymoon.” Joanna replied politely, and the phone hung up.
Ashley told Vienna the news, and they kissed each other against the setting sun.
“You came here as a child. Want to make some adult memories this time?” Vienna’s eyes shone as she held her partner’s hand.
Ashley’s phone beeped again. Text from Trisha:
Not to brag, but yet again, Trisha saves the day.
Ashley smiled widely.
You are such a sneaky witch
Ashley replied as Vienna scooted closer to join in on the conversation.
Sneaky witch says you’re welcome!
Came the reply as Ashley and Vienna laughed.
Thank you, Trish. We love you ❤
Ashley replied and put her phone away, pouncing on her wife, kissing under the setting sun.
