Her song set, though the most unnerving part of the evening, became the highlight for her as she found her voice and conveyed her well-deserved peace of mind after a year of trauma, loss, and recovery. And to top it off, Scott was there with her. Whenever she looked over at him during the evening, he was fully engaged in the event, taking pride in his mother’s accomplishment.
Maybe I’ve finally earned my son’s respect again, she thought. We might just have survived the worst time of our lives.
