Still, I’d come this far, and I wasn’t about to give up on it now. If anything, I wanted to prove to myself I could do it.

With a final heave, I braced myself and pulled with all the strength I had in me. But, no, nothing moved in the car and I only succeeded in straining the muscle in my arm. I sighed, but was distracted by the sound of someone chuckling behind me.

Turning, I saw it was the sexy neighbor from next door.

“Do you need a hand with that?” His eyes showed clearly how amused he was seeing me struggle with the piece. But, I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of stepping in and saving me. Not when I’d come this far already. I could manage it.

“I’ve got it,” I said. “Thanks anyway.”

I turned my back on him, hoping I wasn’t blushing though I had a feeling I might be. I strained against the piece once more, but it didn’t budge. Now, my heart raced, and I hoped the man behind me wasn’t going to start laughing. I was going through enough as it was, I didn’t want this gorgeous stranger to think I wasn’t able to take care of myself.

But, instead of laughing at me, he walked around the side of the car and opened the door, reaching in and giving me a hand with the stand. He shoved as I pulled, and in an instant, we had it out of the car and lying on the grass.

“Thanks,” I said, my chest heaving. He kept his eyes on my face, but I wanted to imagine it was a struggle for him not to stare at my rack. I smiled. “I appreciate it. I’ve been moving a lot the past couple days, and it’s starting to catch up with me, I guess.”

“Why were you out here alone in the dark last night?” he asked me. For a moment, I was a little startled with the question. I wasn’t sure he had seen me the night before when I got up to go back into the house, and I wasn’t used to anyone being so direct and forward with me.

“I guess I just needed a bit of fresh air,” I said with a shrug. “I don’t know.”

“I noticed you were sitting there when I pulled up. I would have said hey but you were gone pretty quick,” he commented.

“Sorry,” I told him. “I wasn’t trying to be rude. I had a lot on my mind. Again, with the moving.”

I didn’t want to tell him the real reason I was on the porch was to get away from my mother. I had only been there two days, and already things were falling apart. I wasn’t sure how I would make it 88 more without one of us killing the other.

But, he didn’t seem overly curious. Instead, he held out his hand. “Blade.”

“Alexis,” I replied, giving his hand a firm shake. It was an unusual name, Blade, but I didn’t say so. There were so many questions I had about this man, I didn’t know where I would even begin. His name certainly wasn’t the most intriguing thing about him, though I did find it almost as captivating as his beautiful eyes.

“Nice to meet you,” he said. "Do you need help getting this inside?”

“No,” I said quickly. I had my hands on either side of the nightstand, and I tried to make it look effortless as I lifted it. “I think I’ve got it. Thank you so much.”

“You sure?” he asked. “I could probably get it up there easier than you. That thing’s like half your size.”

“I got it, really,” I said as I made my way toward the door. “Thanks again for your help, you’re a lifesaver.”

I headed toward the door as quickly as I could before he had the chance to step in and help me anyway. He had done so with the car, and I wasn’t sure if he would do something like that again now.

I really didn’t want him to see the inside of the house in the state it was in. I had been doing my best to get it cleaned up, but it was hard. Between the fights I was having with my mother on a regular basis and the fact I had to get ready to start working again, I didn’t have the time to give the place the real attention it needed.

And not only that, but I knew my mother was still in her usual bad mood. She wasn’t the kind of person who would hold back for anyone, and if she were to see me bringing a guy into the house, I knew she would have something to say about it – and I just didn’t want to deal with that, either.

Blade didn’t deserve that, and I wasn’t going to let her embarrass me in front of the only man in the whole town I would call sexy.

Giving Blade a smile over my shoulder as I pushed my way into the house, I hoped he wasn’t offended. He had been kind to come over and give me a hand like he had, and I didn’t want him to think I was rude for blowing him off again.

He was intimidating, even if he didn’t mean to be. There was just something about him that made my heart race and my palms grow sweaty, and now that I knew his name, I knew it would be even harder for me to keep my eyes off him.

I didn’t come home to get involved with anyone, that was for damn sure, but I had to admit that it did help the situation knowing he was just outside those walls. I might be trapped inside them for a few months, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t daydream about our sexy neighbor – and what he might be doing over in that house.

As I pulled the door closed behind me, I heard my mother in the living room. I braced myself before she even said anything, knowing we were going to have another fight.

She didn’t want me to bring too many of my things with me into the house, but I argued I would take them back with me when I left – because I sure as Hell wasn’t staying. But still, she wanted things to be her way, and if they weren’t, it would be Hell to pay.

“I hope you didn’t actually bring that thing in here,” her shrill voice called.

I sighed. I didn’t want to fight about this, but there was no denying the fact I did have my furniture with me. I planned to take it straight to my room and put it somewhere out of the way for a while. I’d figure it out later.

Right now, I knew I was going to end up in another discussion with my mother, and I hoped to God we could keep the volume down. I didn’t want our neighbor to hear the fight. I didn’t want him to hear what sort of house I was living in – or know the kind of people I was living with.

And, even more than that, I didn’t want to deal with another fight with my mother, either. I felt we had been through enough today, and that was good enough for me.

As I prepared to reply, I could only hope she felt the same.

  Chapter 7

  Blade

I hadn’t been able to get the sexy girl from next door off my mind since heading into the house. Seeing her bent into that car with her ass hanging out behind her, her tight little jean shorts left nothing to the imagination.

I knew she was sexy. I’d seen her moving in a couple days before. But, I had no idea she was that sexy. Up close and personal, I knew I had to have her. I didn’t yet know how I was going to convince her of the same thing, but it was already in the works.

She was just too delicious for me to think of anything else, that was for damn sure. But now, I had to start working the charm.

The doorbell brought me back to the present, and I sighed. I had a feeling it was Maggie again, probably with a new idea on how to get me into her pants. It wasn’t going to work anyway, but she had even less of a chance now that I’d gotten a glimpse of the girl next door.

Opening my front door, I was surprised to find it wasn’t Maggie, but actually Alexis standing there. She was still dressed in her tight little shorts and her tank top, but now she had beer in one hand and a pizza in the other.

“I didn’t want to spend another night in that stuffy house,” she said with a smile. “So, I thought you might want to have dinner with me. You know, as a thank you for what you did earlier.”

She grinned, and for one of the few times in my life, I didn’t know what to say. It was as though she had gifted herself to me. Not only had she put herself on display when she was out there unloading her car, but now here she was, food and beer along with her tight little body, just mine for the taking.

“Of course,” I said with a smile. I pushed the door the rest of the way open, inviting her inside. “Come on in.”

  “Thanks,”
Alexis said. “I feel funny doing pizza and beer. It reminds me of when I was back in college.”

“Those days are thankfully over now,” I told her.

“You went?” she asked in surprise.

I shook my head. “I looked into it, but didn’t ever see anything that seemed to be worth the money. I’m just glad to be past the point in my life where everyone thinks I’m in college.”

“I hear you there,” she said with a smile. “I went. I mean, in my case, it was sort of paid for in a way.”

She explained to me how she had entered a program that trained her to be a nurse in exchange for her working for them for a year. I was surprised to hear she had grown up in Fallen Hills, but she really didn’t go into what her childhood was like.

“I just thought I would end up going out and changing the world. I didn’t think they would send me right back here for my last few months with the program,” she said as we served up the pizza.

“I’m not one much for formal dining,” I told her. “Come on, let’s head to the couch.”

She followed me into the living room, and I put something on the TV for background noise. There were a lot more questions popping up in my mind, but more than that, I wanted to know what she looked like naked. She sat on the couch, her sexy legs lean and toned.

“Do you like being back, at all?” I asked.

She shook her head. “I hate to say it, but I mean, this isn’t really the best place in the world, in my opinion. I don’t have the closest relationship with my mother, and you can imagine living with her has put a bit more of a strain on how things were, anyway. Not to mention, there’s so many drugs here, it’s hard to imagine people do anything fun without getting fucked up out of their minds first.”

“I guess it all depends on what you think is fun,” I said with a shrug. I didn’t feel the need to defend my choice to live here to her, but at the same time, I didn’t like hearing her speak so poorly of the town we used as home base.

We took care of the people here, and I was proud of the work we did. But then, I didn’t need this girl to agree with me on that. I liked women who thought for themselves, and if that’s how she felt, then it was her right to think that way.

“I feel like such a hypocrite,” Alexis said with a laugh as she took a bite of pizza. “I never eat this way when I’m making my own choices, but I gotta admit, this is nice. I mean, I think I was a freshman the last time I had pizza and beer and didn’t give it a second thought.”

I grinned. “You know, everyone has to have their vice. If you spend your entire life being so rigid, you’re never going to enjoy any of it. Then what’s the point?”

She nodded. “I guess that’s true. And, if my only vice happens to be pizza and a beer, I can’t get too mad at myself, can I?”

“I wouldn’t say so. There’s a lot more you can use as a vice that’s not worth the time of day. I’m sure you see plenty of it in your line of work, even if you aren’t fully employed at a particular hospital yet.”

“I’ve seen a lot of different things in the past few months as I’ve been moving around a lot,” she admitted. “I think it’s sad when people throw their lives away to substance abuse. That’s what I see more than anything, let me tell you. I mean, I guess when I think about it that way, then I really can’t complain about a pizza.”

She took a sip of her beer, but then laughed. “I guess when it comes down to being a hypocrite, I should be more upset about the beer in my hand. I sure deal with enough alcoholism at work to know better than to be doing this.”

“You don’t seem like someone who would have an alcohol problem to me, and you need to cut loose and have some fun every now and then, you know?” I told her.

Alexis smiled. It was a beautiful sight, and I knew it wouldn’t be hard for me to get lost in the look forever. I didn’t know what it was about her, but there was something so captivating, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She was like an angel sent straight out of heaven.

Sure, I’d seen my fair share of attractive women, and I never had a problem getting anyone to come home with me from the bar when I was out drinking. But none of them had caught my eye the way this one had. Hell, none of them had even made me think twice about them.

I would take them home, we would have our fun, then they would move on with their lives, and I would move on with mine. It was simple, short, and to the point. That was how I wanted those things to be. I didn’t think I had the time to get involved with anyone, but there was something with this girl I found more intriguing than anyone else I’d ever met.

“I guess I don’t. I mean, again, if I were to have to take a stand against anything, it would have to be drugs. I’ve seen what that can do not only to the person who is struggling with the addiction, but to the entire family. I hate it,” she said as she took another drink of her beer.

For the first time, I could see where Jett was coming from with his insistence over us finding a new way to make money in the MC. Sure, this girl likely wasn’t going to be enough for me to change my mind entirely, but with the way she was turning me on right now, I could imagine if Callie said anything to Jett about it, he would make the effort to stop trafficking.

But, there was no need for this woman to know anything about the drugs. She knew I was part of the MC, but that was all she needed to know. My attire said it all, after all. If she had more questions, she could ask, but that didn’t mean I would answer. I didn’t go into many details with people I didn’t know well, no matter how hot they were or what I wanted to do with them.

I told her enough to satisfy her curiosity, and that was enough for now. But, perhaps with her living right next to me, she might get to learn more with time. I just knew right now, I wanted to learn more about her.

And, I wanted to learn it firsthand.

“I think anything you need to do to relax, you should do,” I told her. “You work hard, so why not cut yourself some slack and just enjoy the beer and the pizza without giving it another thought?”

“Okay,” Alexis giggled. “But if I were to say what my true vices are, I would have to say it’s sweet food. You know, cupcakes, cakes, things like that.”

I nodded, but it was hard for me to think of anything but her. Those lips looked so inviting, her tits beckoned to me from under her low-cut shirt. She took another drink of her beer, but then she looked at me with raised eyebrows. “What about you?”

  “What about me?” I asked.

“What’s your vice?” She looked at me with a playful flutter of her eyelashes. “What do you want to do that makes you forget about the rest of the world for a while?”

I grinned, moving my beer and the pizza out of the way as I crawled toward her on the couch. “You.”

“What?” she asked in surprise. “Me?”

“Yes,” I said. I’d already decided I wanted her, and I always got what I wanted. I knew we were going to sleep together, but I still got a thrill out of the look on her face when I told her what I wanted.

“Are you drunk?” she asked with another giggle.

  “No,” I breathed. “Are you?”

“No,” she said. She was flushed, the blush taking over both cheeks and giving her a healthy glow that only made me want her all the more.

“Good,” I said. “Because I want you to remember this.”

I leaned forward further, our lips meeting. I wasn’t sure how Alexis would respond, but I had to admit, the fact she kissed me back with the same fervor was encouraging. There was no doubt about it – she wanted this as much as I did.

I didn’t even have to ask, she was giving herself to me, taking me for herself at the same time. She knew what she wanted, and I had a feeling when she came over with the beer and the pizza, she knew this is what she was going to get.

The clothes started coming off, my hands running up her shirt and to her bra, squeezing her tit before sliding around her back and unclasping the garment. She let it fall free as she pulled her t-shirt up and over
her head.

I was working on her shorts as she did so, then her hands were on the front of my jeans.

In an instant, we were both naked on my couch, our lips meeting again. Alexis let out a soft moan every now and then, her aggressiveness showing just how much she wanted this, as well.

“You’re sweeter than cupcakes,” I breathed against her neck.

“Oh, God.” Her voice trembled and goosebumps rose all over her body. She was shaking with anticipation as I moved over the top of her. Her body was ready for me, her mouth once again searching for mine.

And, I was more than ready to give her all of me.

  Chapter 8

  Alexis

I couldn’t believe I was actually doing this. I hadn’t had a random hookup since college, and it had been quite some time since I had been with anyone, at all. To be having sex with someone felt amazing, but to be doing it in such strange circumstances for me was mind-blowing.

Blade moved over me with a confidence I’d never experienced before. His lips were on my neck, my nipples, and my pussy. His breath was hot, his body as solid as a rock. He knew what he was doing, there was no doubt about that, and he was good at it, too.

He flicked his tongue around my clit, sending shivers of excitement throughout my entire body. Then, he kissed his way back up my stomach to my neck again, teasing me once more before he pushed his cock deep inside me.

I knew it was coming, but it still took me by surprise, and I let out a gasp of both pain and pleasure wrapped into one. Blade was by far the biggest man I’d ever been with, and I didn’t know I could stretch so much. I took as much of him in my tight pussy as I could, rocking with him on the couch as he thrust his way in and out of me.

I moaned, rocking with him, our bodies moving together as one. Waves of pleasure ran through me, starting at the top of my head, and then spreading all the way through the core of my being. They reached the tips of my fingers and all the way to the tips of my toes, making me want him all the more.
