  “Theresa.” I almost knocked over my cup for a second time as I reached for his hand. “Sorry about the mess.”

  “No problem. I didn’t mean to startle you.” His hazel eyes stared into mine.

  “It’s my fault. I should pay a little more attention to what I’m doing. You’ve rented the Canterbury Cabana, correct?”

  “If you say so. Honestly, I had my secretary book it. I’m not sure what the name was.”

  I quickly pulled up his reservation. “Five bedrooms, five baths? It says here it’s just one guest. They charge a little extra for additional guests, will anyone else be joining you?”

  While he didn’t look the type, on occasion, people would book a house for one guest then have others join them. It was a shady practice. Each new person added time for cleaning and wear and tear on the amenities. Most of the time, I called them out on it and they quickly changed their tune. If not, I reminded them it was a small community, and we’d know if more people came in.

  He looked surprised. “Nope. Just me. I wanted a smaller place, but the island was all booked. I guess now I know why. This place is beautiful.”

  My brow creased. It was unusual, but one look at his designer suit and I shrugged it off. People with money were weird. For all I knew, he was going to run around the house dressed as a woman, singing opera all week. It wasn’t my job to delve into the lives of guests, and I wasn’t about to start. Plus, the idea of him half-naked had taken my thoughts to a place they weren’t supposed to be. There was no doubt in my mind that he looked even better with his shirt off.
