“Yes, I am. The women that stand before you are all powerful. They don’t take shit from anyone. Especially not us.” He pointed behind him.

I wanted to turn my head, but I couldn’t afford to take my eyes off the hooded men.

“Wait till I get my hands on you, bitch,” Brandon threatened.

“You stepped in it fellas.” Dominic walked toward Carl, clutching a Glock in one hand.

Dillon, Marco, Tony, and Sebastian stalked toward the guys on horses.

Dominic threw his head back in laughter, then slammed his head against Carl’s. He staggered backward, falling against the bus.

“You spineless piece of shit.” Dominic snatched his hood off and Carl’s messy blond hair came into view.

Gripping his robe, he stared into his blue eyes. “Not so big now. You thought you’d hunt down my wife, Carmen Magarelli, like a fucking dog.” Dominic’s cold gaze melted to butter as they fell on Carmen. “I’m sorry, baby.”

Tears streamed down her pretty face.

“Black people are the strongest people in the world. They endured severe punishment and abuse at the hands of white people for over four hundred years. You’re pigro. So full of yourselves you treat an entire race of people less than so you can feel like a big man.” Dominic growled.

“That’s right. You bastards stole them from their country and brought them here to serve you. This shit ends now,” Jacob bit out.

“After we torture and kill you will go after your families,” Dillon roared.

“We’ll dismantle your organization from the inside out,” Marco growled.

“Nothing I hate more than racist scum.” Sebastian’s fist landed square in one of the guys faces.

Tony threw another man to the ground and stomped on his stomach. “That’s my queen, you miserable motherfucker.”

The guys snatched the hoods off their heads one by one.

“Get on your fucking knees.” Marco shoved his foot in the back of the blond-haired ponytail wearing guy. His face met the dirt.

  I laughed.

  “Baby, lower your weapons.”

“We’ll finish this party in the woods. Can’t afford wandering eyes.”

Angel walked around us. “I’m a person,” she yelled in Carl’s face.

Her fist slammed into his jaw.

Dominic chuckled. “I’m in a mood for a roast.”

He grabbed Carl by his collar and pushed him forward.

  “Walk,” Dominic demanded.

“Please Mr. Magarelli, don’t kill us.”

“Guess you realized who we are. You also know what we’re capable of.”

  Carmen ran into his arms.

“I’m sorry you had to encounter such hate on your girls’ trip. Don’t worry, baby, they’ll pay with their lives for thinking about killing you all.” He dropped his head in laughter. “This will be the best night this week. I finally get to chop up bodies.”

Carl slapped his palms together as his ass hit the dirt behind the dark swaying trees. “You can’t do this. Our brothers will come after you.” His blue eyes saddened.

“Shit, he’s right. We can’t do this here.” Dominic waved his gun in his face.

“You fuckers are coming on a little ride with us to Dallas.” His eyes shot over to Jacob. “Do you have a place we can take care of these bastards?”

  “I sure do.”

Brandon smacked Jacob’s shoulder. “We’ll load them on the bus. Me, Tony, and Sebastian will drive the bus to Dallas. Hop on the jet with the wives. We’ll meet you there in four hours.”

“Sounds good to me.” Tony gripped his Glock in front of himself.

“But first let the ladies kick the shit out of them.” Dillon slammed his foot into Carl’s Jaw. He crouched beside him. The leaves crackled under his shoes. Gripping his cheeks Dillon pointed his finger in his face. “That’s for plotting to kill our wives. We have nice steel drum barrels waiting on you with your names on them. Can’t wait to melt you down fucker.” Carl shook under his glare.

Dillon stood pulling Sierra into his arms. “I missed you baby.” He devoured her lips.

Dillon pulled back. “We have a lot to talk about on the plane. But first beat the shit out of these motherfuckers.”

Sierra nodded and moved beside us. We swung our fists and shoved our boots against their chests.

I grabbed Carl by the neck. “Your people tried to kill us in that bar. Like so many had done in the past. Angel told us to run. We aren’t runners. Hopefully, we lit flames to several people tonight. They had it coming. Then you have the nerve to beg for your life. Making you suffer will bring us a tiny bit of satisfaction. We aren’t the kind of people you want hunting you. We are assassins and mob wives.” The back of my hand struck his cheek.

  “Ah.”

“Yeah, scream out. It won’t help you.

My family and I just happened to choose that bar. I had no idea you used that place as a trap to kill my people. We’ve gone after pedophiles. Looks like we may need to end the lives of several repulsive racists who look to steal our organs and snuff out our lives. It won’t take that much to persuade the president, my boss, to investigate your little trap. Shit, I wonder how many black people we’ll find buried...” I waved my hand around. “...on just this parcel of land alone. We’ll use our own people to investigate. Can’t trust the corrupt justice system.”

“But you work for the President. He’s corrupt.”

“That’s where you’re wrong, bitch. I grew up with him. If there’s corruption happening under his nose, he’s not aware. No worries we’ll dig deep and snuff out all the pond scum.”

My wheels began turning. Was Robert’s father still stirring shit behind the scenes? Wouldn’t be surprised. If he was, he needed to be dealt with.

“Carl, we may have to keep you alive a little while longer. Don’t cooperate and we’ll just find another one of your brothers to kidnap.” A wide smile spread across my caramel face.

I turned to the guys. My eyes combed over their faces. “We need to clean up this mess. There were so many people who saw my face.”

Brandon tapped Sebastian. “Change of plans. Tony, Dillon, and Marco can haul the garbage on the bus. Jacob, and Dom, fly with the wives. We’ll access the damages. In an hour we’ll charter a jet and meet up soon.”

“Wait.” Dominic raised his Glock. “Why wasn’t I chosen to ride on the bus?”

Brandon shook his head. “You know why.” He pointed. “You would kill them before we reached our destination.”

His brows rose, and he tooted his lips. “Good point.” Dominic kicked one of the men across the face.

“Let’s move.” He grabbed Carmen’s hand.

“I’ll drive.” Jacob scanned the low-lit deserted road near the motor coach. He grabbed my hand. My skin tingled under his touch. I felt safe and loved by my husband’s side.

  CHAPTER NINETEEN

  SAMANTHA

  ASSASSIN WIFE

TWENTY MINUTES LATER, reclined in one of the plush white leather seats on my jet, I swayed my hand over the clean jeans and tight pale pink T-shirt that felt soft against my skin. I stared at Jacob, hovering over his laptop.

  “Baby, you’re staring.”

“How will we clean up this fucking mess?” I dropped my head in my hands.

“Shush.” He glanced over his shoulder. “Everyone’s sleep, I think except Dominic and Carmen. He’s probably fucking her brains out in one of the private baths.

Peeking through the seats, my eyes swept over Sierra and Emoni in a deep slumber across the aisle.

Was this the first time they had solid sleep?

Jacob caressed my thigh. “Look at me.”

My heart thumped in my throat. One night could ruin my life.

“I wish I wouldn’t have picked that place.”

His fingers stroked my dark brown locks dangling over my shoulders. Once again, my hair was a tattered mess.

Jacob pulled me against his broad chest.
Hey, if you ladies wouldn’t have gone there you wouldn’t have saved Angel. Think of all the bodies we’ll uncover and hopefully bring closure to several families.”

My fingers grazed the expensive threads of his powder blue dress shirt. I squeezed his pec. “You’re right. I’m thankful we shut down that bullshit.

Angel will remain under our protection. I’ll have dad send someone to watch over her at our Malibu safehouse while we’re on vacation.”

  “Good idea.”

I sat up. “Where is she anyway?”

“In our bed. Remember, she shook my hand profusely when we boarded. Her sleeping in the bedroom would cut down on the stares while I work. It’s bad enough my wife can’t stop staring,” he chuckled.

“Funny. You know why I stared this time.”

“I do. Brandon and Sebastian chopped the video footage. You guys were never there.”

“Once customers report to the police, we tried to burn them alive, someone will come knocking on our door.”

“What will they say? Remember the night you were at the bar in Tulsa and the white people tried to kill you? Can you tell us why you tried to burn the people alive?”

I sat back and glared into those sexy green eyes.

“Baby, you know they’ll spin it.”

“We’ll get out in front of the matter. I talked to Robert briefly. He agreed to meet in person.”

  My eyes widened. “When?”

  “In a few hours.”

“And Nicki?” I bit the corner of my lip.

“He didn’t say. I’m happy the warehouse we’re using tonight is in a remote location. I’ve shut down the feed on any cameras along that road where we found you all. Once we return from vacation Sebastian and I need to survey those woods.”

“Never a boring day living with Jacob Latters.”

He threaded his fingers through his hair. “Are you serious?”

  “What?” My brows rose.

“This week has been an adventure just chasing after you all.”

I wrapped my arm around his and cozied into his shoulder. “Maybe I love the chase.”

“Mrs. Latters, I know you do.”

I smirked. “Thanks for helping us tonight.”

“Anything for my beautiful wife.” His fingers skated across the laptop keys. My heavy lids slowly closed. The nightmares would soon surface after the night we endured.

I rolled out the secret make up kit filled with torture tools across the steel table under the bright lights. I scanned my surroundings.

What a way to end a night, cutting into men who got off on torturing black people. The leather black apron swallowed my petite frame. The safety goggles rested on my forehead. Dressed in matching aprons, Dominic held Carmen in his arms, kissing her neck. She gripped a scalpel, staring at the man they had strapped on a long table. Dominic was in his element.

Wonder how we gained access to hospital equipment on short notice? Pays to be a spy. Things of need often dropped into our laps. Dillon provided the names of the evil bastards we planned to continue torturing before the mobsters melted their bodies down to liquid.

Carl Morris, attorney at law. He had the biggest mouth of the six men. Jack Dunham police officer, Edgar Smith how common was a firefighter. Kenneth Tanner and Donald Thomas were nobody biker lackies.

I didn’t require tons of light like the guys. The heat from the lamps were a form of torture to them.

Knives were what we had in common. Cutting into human flesh was invigorating. Useless chatter floated around my ears. I took a glimpse at Carl. He wiggled in the wooden chair, wearing only his white boxers. His chest bucked every time his wrist twisted in the restraints.

“What did you say? I tuned you out the moment the guys strapped you to the chair,” I smirked.

“My wife is probably worried sick. We’re never gone over three hours.”

“The families of the black people you killed were worried about their loved ones too. You shouldn’t have killed innocent people for your sick thrills.” I swiped a surgical knife across his arm.

My lips curled at the sight of his crimson blood.

“Hey.” I glanced to the right.

  “Syd, how are you feeling?”

“Tired. But electrocuting, one of these miserable bastards warms my skin.”

  We burst into laughter.

Sebastian slipped his arms around Sydney’s waist. Her head fell against his chest. “What’s up?” Her amber eyes met his.

“The President would like to speak with us.”

Carl’s mouth opened so wide it could have dragged on the ground. “The President of the United States is here?”

“Yup. If you’re hoping he’ll shut down our operation you’re mistaken.” I removed my apron and tossed it across the table. “Don’t forget his wife is black, bitch.”

I chuckled, walking toward a private office.

Swinging the door open, I met Jacob’s gaze. He sat on top of a wooden desk and pulled me close.

“Mr. President, the gangs all here.”

I heard the door click closed.

Two secret service men stood along the wall.

“Samantha, I hear you and the ladies encountered vile people last night.”

“I heard the same thing.” A familiar voice stated.

My heart plummeted to the floor.

“Hey girl.” A head full of lustrous black wavy locks peeked out from behind Robert’s back.

“Ah,” I screamed, jumping up and down.

We ran into each other’s arms. I held her so tight. “Nicki, I missed you so much,” I sniffled.

  “Me too.”

I grabbed her arms and pulled back. “Girl, you look amazing. Washington has treated you good.”

  “You’re still pretty as ever.”

I hugged her again and glanced at Robert. “Thank you,” I mouthed.

He flashed that killer smile my best friend fell in love with when we were kids.

Sydney stepped over and squeezed Nicki too.

“Let’s discuss the matter at hand.” Jacob nodded at the empty chairs.

Looping my arm around Nicki’s we sat in front of the desk.

“I’m giving your team authorization to hire a special black ops team to sweep that corner of Tulsa. Dig up the land. If you find remains of missing people, report back to me. Along with an in-depth briefing on corrupt judges, law enforcement, and politicians. Everything.”

“Understood. And thank you, Mr. President. We need to speak in private.” My eyes darted to his men in the room.

  “Gary and Max, step outside.”

They did as they were told.

The second the door closed, I glanced at Robert. “I understand you’re corrupt too.”

  His blond brow wrinkled. “What?”

“Yeah, the ring leader I’m holding said you’re no better than them.”

His fists curled at his sides. Robert was clad in a navy suit and a pink tie. His hair swooped perfectly across the front of his head. You would’ve thought it was ten in the morning, not two in the middle of the night.

“Do you believe him?” he scowled.

“Of course not. I know who you are. Someone in your camp is dirty. Your father came to mind.”

“He doesn’t frequent the White House. But on the sparse occasions he was present, there isn’t any telling what he’s done. He’s friends with several people who work on my staff.”

“We can help. Undercover, of course,” Jacob stated.

“Thanks. Once you return from your vacation, we’ll meet.” Robert’s stern gaze fell over us all.

  “Yes,” we each sounded.

He sank into the desk chair. “While you all are in Punta Cana, I need you to ensure a precious painting returns to the U.S. safely. The piece will be on display at a special auction. The item isn’t included in the auction, but many enthusiasts are excited to view the rare piece. It’s over two hundred years old. The painting is valued at forty-three million doll
ars.”

  Jacob released a low whistle.

“The painting will arrive Wednesday morning from the Smithsonian. You are the best. If anyone can make sure it returns safe and sound it’s your team.”

“Robert, really we’re on vacation.” My face twisted.

“You’re my team for a reason. I trust you guys.”

Sebastian extended his hand toward Robert. “You can count on us, Mr. President.”

Sydney placed her hand in his.

Jacob glanced between me and Robert as he shook his hand.

Robert’s eyes fell on me again. Nicki nudged my shoulder.

“Fine.” I placed my palm in his.

He pulled me to my feet and into his arms. “You’re my wife’s dearest friend and the only person who gives me as much shit as her. Thanks, Samantha.”

Stepping back, I smiled and pushed my fist into his hard chest. “You’re welcome, Robert.”

I turned to Nicki, staring into her slanted eyes. Tears threatened to burst forth. She was leaving again. I hated we lived far apart.

  “Camp David in August, Samantha?”

I hugged her tight again. “Yes, we’ll be there unless your husband sends us to save the world that week.”

  “Funny, Sam.”

I rolled my eyes at Robert. Laughter filled the room.

Just like that, they boarded Air Force One bound for Washington, D.C.

My husband held me close. “Later, I want you to lie in my arms and cry. Let go, Samantha. You have a hard time turning it off.”

“That sounds perfect.” My fingers trailed along his stubbled face. “I need you so bad, Jacob.” My body shuddered against his.

“I know. Come on.” He gripped my ass. “Let’s torture and kill these bastards.”

We walked over to our station and slipped our aprons over our heads.

“Carl, today’s your lucky day.” Jacob adjusted the blowtorch. He open mouth winked like his character on Demons Within. My husband was over compensating for something. Could it be the thought of losing me yet again? Flying to Punta Cana couldn’t come fast enough. I needed quality time with my husband.

“You get to die at the hands of Jacob and Samantha Latters. And yes, I know this isn’t a movie. Maybe it’s our personal film.” He widened his arms. “Look around.” Jacob turned Carl’s chair to the side. His lips quivered as his blues scanned the enormous warehouse. The gray walls gave that industrial feel. The silver lamps hung low beside the steel beams. This was our biggest warehouse in Dallas that was empty. I tapped my foot against the cement floor.
