  Chapter 35

When we woke up that morning, we were tangled into each other and he was stroking my face. As he looked at me, I fluttered my eyes and looked at him too.

I love this man. Way too much.

We are married. He is my husband and I, his wife! Ah! "Good morning, Mr. Moretti."

He leaned over to kiss my mouth and as he did, he whispered, "Good morning Mrs. Moretti."

I smiled at him and kissed him back. He pushed the sheet up off of me and slid his body on mine. I opened my legs so he could rest in between them and before long, I felt his dick slip into me.

Someone knocked on our door and I looked at it with annoyance.

"Someone better be dying," I screamed at the door.

  "Vans? Open the door!"

Vincent took himself out of me and I could see that he is not happy either. Hello! We are newlyweds! I pulled the sheet off the bed and wrapped it around me. As I walked over to the door, Vincent slipped his boxers on. Damn. I guess sexy time is over.

"What?" I didn't give her any formal greeting as I ripped the door open.

"Ronnie, come here!" She walked into the room and then so did Ronnie.

I felt incredibly exposed in just a white sheet. This sucks. What could they want?

Vincent was definitely mad at our interruption and he was glaring at them. "What?"

Ronnie leaned on the dresser and I climbed back into the bed. Once I was in the bed, I dragged Vincent over to me by grabbing his arm. "Come on, I want to be close to you."

He snuggled in close to me and held me to his chest as he leaned against the headboard. Ronnie was quiet and so was Anne. Since no one was talking, I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms tighter around Vincent.

"Stilarno called John and from the way it seems is that Joel requested a hit."

My eyes were about to drift off and then I felt Vincent get stiff. He stroked my back and I listened to him breathe. His breathing grew deeper and more uncontrolled.

"Baby doll?" He asked me so many questions in that statement. What I thought, how I felt, what I want to do, what I want him to do.

So, I spoke the truth. "Vincent, this is getting old. Can't we just be together and enjoy our honeymoon?"

"Yes," he kissed the top of my head. "Yes, of course." Nobody spoke for a couple of minutes and all anyone could hear were the waves, until Vincent spoke again. "You heard my wife."

I giggled every time he called me his wife. This was a wonderful feeling. I felt full and complete. This is amazing.

"Wait, Vincent, Vans... You don't know who he requested the hit on," Anne said as she sat down on the bed next to me. Since I was still naked, I felt every bit of her movement on the sheet that covered me.

"Okay, I will bite. Who?" I said with my eyes still closed. Vincent stayed silent as he waited for the answer.

  "Leo."

This is when Vincent lightly pushed me off of him, so I laid on the pillow. He walked over towards Ronnie and stared at me. Shit. This is not going to be good.

"Why?" He demanded as he picked up a water bottle and took a drink. I watched his deliberate movements and studied him.

"Because of your sit down with Stilarno about... Well..." Ronnie tilted his head towards me.

"What the fuck? The day after I get married this is the shit they pull?" Vincent paced the room and then looked over at me. I was asking and screaming so many questions with the look I gave him. "Do you want to know?"

"Does it involve our relationship?" I asked as I sat up and reached for the water bottle in his hand. "Because if it involved us then yes, I do want to know." He places the cold bottle into my grasp.

"It does," Anne whispered as she climbed under the comforter and put her head on my original pillow. I have now taken over Vincent's side of the bed since he is scrolling through his phone by the cabin door.

"Okay, what happened now?" I whispered as I chugged the contents of the water bottle. "Fuck. I wish I had some other clothes. I feel naked. Well, I mean I am naked. Damn it."

Vincent stopped by the door and glared at Ronnie and then looked over at me. I wish I had a brush; I am positive my hair looks like a rat's nest. "After you were shot, Leo and I went and spoke to Stilarno and the person who shot you was there too."

I rolled my eyes at this. Why does this involve me? So, what, I was shot. Get over its people. I did and I am sure they can too.

"Stilarno told me that he seen you a long time ago and that he was in love with you too. I guess when you sold someone's penthouse, Stilarno seen you."

Not only was my crazy morning sex interrupted, now I am annoyed over this tennis ball competition. I am tired of being a tennis ball. "Why does that matter? I am not a toy. It’s not as if you can call dibs on a person."

"Well, he figured that if you and Joel got divorced that he would have a chance. However, by the time his plan was fully into motion... We already began to see each other."

I know I am being extremely childish and petulant, but I am so tired of Joel interrupting my life. "Quit playing with me. Why does this involve me directly? Are you saying that because I didn't bang him that he is going to kill Leo? This doesn't make any sense."

"Leo went with me and since he is the next hit man, Joel wants to take him out to hurt me."

"What do you need to do?" Anne asked. We were snuggling now, and I half smiled at her.

"We need to go back to New York for a few days," Ronnie was the one to answer and I was shooting daggers at both of them.

"What the fuck? This is supposed to be our honeymoon!" Anne screamed. It is very rare to see Anne all fired up, but she does have a temper and has been known to make people cry over the shit that comes out of her mouth.

"Took the words right out of my mouth, girlfriend!"

"You guys can stay here. Stay at the hotel and we will be back in a few days," again Ronnie replied.

I looked at my brand-new husband and doubts filled me. We just got married and he is already taking off? This is ridiculous. Will I ever come first? "Vincent? Are you serious?"

"Yes, I am sorry. We can stay an extra week if you want. I am going to call the boat operator to come get us."

"I didn't sign up for this! I can't stay an extra week! I do have a job!"

"I am sorry, my love." Vincent started to walk over to me and leaned over to kiss me.

Before I knew it, we were on the speed boat to go back to the hotel. Once we got there, Ronnie and Vincent took off.

Wow. We have been married for a day and I have already been left. No matter what, the family always trumps me, and I am left alone.

Did I do the right thing in marrying him? If he can't give me twenty-four hours of attention after our wedding, will I ever get him to myself? I can't be this person again. I can't be the wife who sits aside and waits for her husband to come home.

Anne and I are standing on the steps of the hotel and both of our looks are the same. We are hurt and feeling betrayed.

So far, this is not the start of a happy and good marriage. This is a repeat of my last one.

  Bonus Scene: Detective Carter

  Well, well, well.

Three years I have been watching the Lucky family and for those three years I've waited for a weak rat. My agency needs hardcore evidence on them in order to bring them down but it’s not working the way I planned.

Moretti is a force to reckon with but even the strong get weak.

I followed the cars that led to the warehouse where they were taking my private informant. The building looks industrial, but I know what happens behind the doors. People die.

My informant wore a wire but left it off while at work in order to not make things weird for him there. Of course, the dumb ass forgot to put his wire back on after he left work and I am not getting any of this audio feeds.

Just then, shots rang out into the air and chilled my bones. Pretty sure that this death is on me. I convinced this young kid that he could survive after flipping and it looks like I am wr
ong.

Pop, Ice, and Booker ran out all at the same time and hopped into their car. Looks as if I will be able to take them down after all.

My phone is ringing which interrupted my dance. "Yeah?"

The cold voice on the other end woke me up. "Did you get the info?"

"I did. The plan will work out," I say into my phone.

"Good. Oh, and, Carter? I think the captain is looking for you."

  "Thanks, Stilarno."
