  Asher laughed at the thought.

“And you stayed out of the fray completely, did you?” he asked.

“Well, Lacey and his group may have had a bit of persuasion from me,” she said.

  “I’m sure they did.”

“I don’t think Joel’s split lip is ever going to heal,” Galina continued brightly. “Come on. The others ordered pizza to celebrate. It’s being delivered to Joel’s room. We’re all dying to hear what happened.”

Pizza sounded amazing, but Asher paused. “I should tell Jules,” He said stopping in the corridor.

Galina stopped short beside him. She tucked her hair nervously behind an ear and looked up at him. “Jules is here?” she asked.

Asher nodded. He wondered how Jules would integrate into his new friend group. Suddenly he was excited to introduce her to the rest of his friends.

“That’s great,” Galina said, but there was a coolness to her voice. “I can’t wait to meet your mystery girlfriend.”

Asher laid a hand on Galina’s arm. “You know, she’s not my girlfriend,” he said.

  “Mmmhhmm.” Galina hummed.

Asher let it go with a slight smile. “Kenny hasn’t managed any beer for this pizza, has he?”

“I’m sure he can figure something out,” Galina said with a grin. “If he didn’t, we still ordered Coke.”

  Asher smiled.

He was glad to be with back with his friends. He needed them right now. If a crazed necromancer wants to kill you it’s good to have friends at your back, he thought.

“What are you grinning about?” Galina asked, hands on her hips.

“I just can’t wait to introduce Jules to the team,” Asher said. At some point during the past few months, Whitehall had become home and now that Jules was here too, the next semester looked just a bit brighter. Tired or not, it felt good to be home.
