The Redemption

“Not that particular girl, Ryann. When did you become interested in girls in general?”

“Since his friends decided too,” Gianna interjected.

“You two need to slow down a bit. Stop growing up so fast, you’ll regret it in ten years.”

“Dad, we can’t control how fast we grow.”

“He didn’t mean it literally, you dork,” Gianna said.

“Oh. I can’t believe I got a girlfriend, all the way up here!”

“Life is strange, son. You never know the really important moments are important when they’re happening until you look back realizing the differences they made. I met your mother one night long ago because I promised a ten-year-old girl who was shot that she would be okay. Tabatha Jones, I’ll never forget that name. Anyway, your mother was working at the hospital that night. That’s when we met.”

  “Did she live?” Gianna asked.

“Yes, she did. Needless to say, I had a very good night,” John answered. “So, I guess my point is every moment, no matter how seemingly insignificant, must be navigated with extreme thought. We never know when a major point in our lives is upon us.”

John woke at the break of dawn on the last day of the cruise. He stepped out onto the upper deck, which had become his custom in the early morning before the rest of his family woke. It had been a wonderful vacation. They visited Skagway, Glacier Bay, Ketchikan, and Victoria, as well as Juneau. It was a perfect morning, warm, but not humid at all, with a crisp breeze coming from the west. He climbed to the top deck and walked to the end, put his hands on the rail and absorbed the beauty. He took in the blue-green ocean before turning his attention to the sky. He noticed the clouds, which are nothing but shaped air and condensation but also, ironically, the source of life. They moved rapidly across his vision and he thought about how they resemble the people in our lives, coming and going in the blink of an eye. They appear and vanish every day, looking down at us from the heavens, reminding us of our own immortality. His thoughts turned to Todd and his family, Captain Johnson, and all the others that were lost through the years.

But life is for the living, and John wasn’t finished living yet.

He took one last look across the horizon, turned and started his walk back. This was the last day for this vacation and he was going to make the best of it because memories are all we have long after our lives end.

  The Reviews Are In!

“Haunting, frightening, yet beautiful and bringing up important truths about us, human beings.”

“These are tales that might happen, some that do happen. It is not a journey for the faint of heart. However, I also feel it is one that most should read.”

“Haunting, intriguing, some of them downright frightening, but at the end of the day, for me, they were ultimately uplifting, giving a sense of something greater than ourselves at work.”

“This collection of short stories will make you think about life, death, love, family, spirituality, and the human condition. The thoughts within can be dark at times, as the title suggests, but even in the darkness there is always some hope, no matter how small.”

  A Thin Line

What if a man lost his moral compass between right and wrong, good and evil, mental stability and insanity?

John Corbin has been investigating, catching, and convicting murderers, rapists, and pedophiles for twenty years as a Seattle detective. But lately, someone has been beating him to the punch and eliminating these vile criminals before he can apprehend them. John is learning that there is a thin line between innocent or guilty, good or evil, alive or dead.

By definition, a thin line is a very narrow division between two alternatives. Some being exact opposites, while others are separated by the narrowest of threads. This novel follows this definition to the letter. In life, many situations aren’t just black or white. There is usually a modicum of grey to fill in the space. Who is right? Who is wrong? Who is good? Who is evil? Perhaps everyone at one time or another lies somewhere in the middle…

A Thin Line is a tale that will immediately draw you in and keep you guessing. A suspenseful psychological thriller with twists and turns that will toy with your mind and emotions, driven by a chilling narrative that builds the tension right up until its explosive conclusion.

  The Reviews are in!

“This is the raw, horrible, gruesome, human-as-a-horror truth of man’s depravity.”

“You will read this book and in certain chapters, it will be so disturbing that you will wonder what is wrong with the guy writing this book, why is this book so DARK. Then you will stop and realize that crimes like this happen every single day. The author just finds a way of forcing you to deal with them.”

“The ending was more than surprising, and I applaud the author since I never saw that coming. The characters were very well developed and the storyline gritty and fast-paced. Great work.”

“I’m still reeling from this book! It’s a really good, gritty read that caught me by surprise. This was my first time reading this author, and wow - I was blown away.”
