Capture Her Heart
Page 15
The sound of a voice through the open car window caused her to break off the kiss, laughing.
“I don't think that's how you give the kiss of life, Blake,” Cain's amused voice interrupted their passion.
“I don't know, Cain. It looks a very efficient way to me.” Jackson joined the discussion. Both men were standing near the car.
“Cain, I think you need to go back to medical school because that kickstarted my heart, for sure.” Emily deafened her man.
“I don't know, Emily. I might need to do some more practice at home.” Blake’s eyes twinkled at her as he started up the car.
Emily waved to the two men as Blake pulled away from the curb, taking them off to his apartment.
Blake let her into the apartment.
“It's been quite a day,” Emily cringed at the understatement.
“It will take a while for my heart to come back down. When Cain told me that Vivian had taken you, I almost lost it.”
Emily watched as he unclenched his jaws, the tension in his shoulders lessening as he escorted her to the sofa.
Blake closed the distance between them. He grabbed her hand, interlacing his fingers with hers.
“A wise woman once said, “Let it go, and it will come back to you.” He lifted his other hand to caress her other cheek.
“I rarely act on impulse, and yet, with you, I've been nothing but impulsive. I realized that I rushed you and that you hardly have time to know me, but it feels like I've known you for years. But that's what love is, meeting someone who you have an instant connection with. Someone who excites you, surprises you, rouses you to incredible passion, makes you laugh… I thought I would never have that until I met you, Emily.”
He cupped her cheek. “I love you, Emily.”
Emily felt herself choke up at the look in his eyes, his declaration mirroring how she felt. “Can you forgive me, Blake?”
“There's nothing to forgive, Emily. Just promise me that you'll communicate when we fight. Something tells me that we're not always going to see eye to eye.”
“Well, at least the makeup sex will be great.” Emily winked at him, causing a big belly laugh to escape Blake.
“Speaking of which,” Emily trailed off...
“You would tease a saint, Emily. But its time for some rest, little miss,” he said in his stern voice.
“Blake, I just have a few bruises, cuts, and the bump on my head. There's nothing else wrong with me.” Emily rose up from the couch. “If you want me to rest, then I think I’ll need some help to sleep.”
Blake choked back his laughter as he tried to give her a stern look. She looked at him over her shoulder as she made her way to the bedroom, a swing in her hips and a glint in her eyes.
“Remind me to spank you when you've healed you, little madam.”
Emily wasn't cowed by the threatquite the opposite, if the tiny flex of her pussy was any indication.
“Oh, don't worry. I will.” She turned her head, giving him the cheekiest smile he had ever seen. “But you better be prepared for me to like it,” she wiggled her ass at Blake.
She stopped at the edge of the hallway. “I need you, Blake. I thought...” her voice broke. “I was afraid I would never see you again, never be with you…”
“Oh, Emily.” Blake shot up from the sofa and engulfed her in his arms, pressing her face to his chest. He kissed her, keeping it gentle and putting everyone he had into it. She could swear she felt the emotion in it. His flavor intoxicated her. She had become so gloriously addicted to him.
“Hush now, sugar. You know I would move heaven and hell for you.”
“I do.” Emily looked back at him, her trust in him absolute now, her fear of taking a risk unfounded. “But I need you to show me,” she whispered.
Blake followed her into the bedroom. The heat from his body soothed her, as well as thrilled her, his size all-consuming.
“Yes,” shivers wracked her as Blake kissed her neck where it met her shoulder, the slight scrape of his teeth delighting her. He undressed her quickly. Their passion for each other rising rapidly, she twisted in his arms to pull at his T-shirt. She wanted to press herself against his chest to feel him skin to skin.
He shucked his clothes quickly before pushing her down onto the bed, covering her body with his own as he kissed her senseless. The passion that had been simmering was now a rolling boil through her body. She could feel the wetness of her pussy and needing to be filled as Blake teased her with his mouth.
She could smell the scent all over her as he readied her body to receive him. His tongue entwined with hers, the small bite of his lips sent shivers down her as his moist breath moved down her neck, where he placed some small biting kisses.
He reared back, the fullness of him as he thrust home just what she needed. Her arousal shimmered and grew into an orgasm, one anything like she had felt before. He picked up the pace of his thrust the give and take more than she could bear, her breath sawing in and out of her lungs.
She felt herself tense as the orgasm teased out of reach. Blake slowed the pace to enable him to be able to finger her clit. The orgasm hit her, not in a wild rush or giant explosion like she thought she needed, but rather one that oozed through her body, filling everythingher heart, her mind, and soulcleansing her. It completed her as she felt Blake stiffen in her arms. His shout of pleasure was music to her ears as she felt her pussy contract around his cock, milking him for all she could. She felt branded in their combined passion. Her senses slowly returned. She didn't recognize her own heartbeat. Her cheek was pressed to his damp chest, their spent passion drenching her senses.
Emily groaned, “ don't have words to describe that.”
“I don't either. You just blew my mind, sugar.”

Waking up in Blake's apartment had become a habit now. After a relaxing morning, where the two of them had shared a late brunch, they had gone back to bed for a “nap” at Blake's insistence. That nap had lead to the two of them celebrating there love for each other. Emily was still trying to catch her breath from the last couple of days activities. Her head was not throbbing, but her wrists were still sore from the cuts the zip ties had left.
“Right, Emily. Time to get up. We have visitors arriving shortly.”
“Visitors?”
“Yep, Catherine called while you were asleep this morning. So, I suggested she comes over for a BBQ. Cain's going to drive them both here. She wants to see for herself that you’re alright.”
“Shit.” Emily scrambled out of bed, reaching for her clothing. “I won't be long, I need to make a key lime pie before Cain gets here!”
“I'm sure it can wait. You’re still recovering, sugar.” Blake pulled her into his arms, giving her a kiss on her forehead.
“No, it can't. Let me say thanks the best way I know how, Blake!”
“Okay, I've heard a lot about your baking, so show me why it’s so good.” Blake gave her a pat on the ass as he pushed her towards the en suite bathroom.
Emily whipped her hands on the tea towel, the pie going into the oven just as she heard the discrete doorbell ringing.
“Made it!” Emily laughed at Blake, who was sitting across from her on the stool’s position in front of the kitchen bench.
She heard Blake grumbling as he went to let their visitors in. It would be a close call. She had to shove Blake out to the supermarket with a list of ingredients. While he had most of the basics, he did not have what she would call a well-stocked kitchen.
“Emily,” Catherine enveloped her in a bear hug before she could fully turn to greet her friend as she entered the kitchen.
“Are you alright? My god, when I saw the newspaper, I couldn't believe it. Then, when Blake told me about your orderly with Vivian, I couldn't believe it. That doesn't happen in real life!”
Emily smiled as she remembered she'd thought the same thing when it was happening.” I’m fine, Catherine. Just some cuts and bruises.”
“I'm glad. I don't
know what I would do without you” Catherine had tears in her eyes as she leaned in again to hug her.
“Come on, I've got some wine out on the terrace waiting for us. We can catch up while the men deal with the BBQ.” Emily turned to greet Cain as he came into the room. “Cain, I seem to be saying thanks to you a lot. This time I've got some key lime pie in the oven to do it with.”
The groan of pleasure from Cain's mouth caused Catherine to giggle; Blake looked at him like the man had come from another planet.
“Like I said, Blake. Wait until you taste her baking before judging.” Cain elbowed his friend in the stomach.
“Well, I’ll be out on the terrace catching up with Catherine. I’ll leave you two to deal with the BBQ, salad. There are cold beers in the fridge.” Emily dragged her friend out onto the terrace.
“Wow, Emily. This place is amazing. Look at the view.”
“I know.” Emily couldn't stop the smile spreading on her face. She was just that happy.
“So, give me the gossip, girl. What happened?”
Emily filled Catherine in on the goings-on that happened the day before, including her rescue.”
“So, Vivian was responsible for breaking into the studio?”
“Yep. She confessed all to Jackson last night. Seemed she was diagnosed with mental health issues last year and had stopped taking her medication about three months ago. She had fixated in on Blake, thinking he was Derek. At least, that was Jackson’s take on it. I guess we won't ever really know why.”
“Oh, I don't know whether to be angry or feel sorry for her.”
“Sorry for her? She's suffering from an illness. It doesn't excuse her actions, but I understand why now. It's going to be a tough road for her in jail.”
“You’re a better woman than I, Emily. How do you feel about the photos?” Catherine sipped the wine that Emily had served them.
“I was so mad at first. I was mad at Blake, but if I'm honest with myself, it was just the fear of losing him. I love him, Catherine.” She felt the rightness of the statement settling over her. “But I let my fear get the better of me. I let my insecurity lead me down the garden path. But the prospect of living in a high-profile scandal slammed into my face. Made me start to think that sometimes you have to risk that your being guarding, otherwise you’re not living.”
“I'm glad you realized that. You know he's good for you, right? I see the way he is with you. He's just as much in love with you as you are with him.”
“Now, we just need to find someone for you.”
“No, you don't. I am off men with a capital N. If you think you made bad choices. Mine go way past that.. I think I need some time just to get my life back on track.”
“I see someone doesn't take their own advice,” Emily sing-songed to her.
“Humph,” Catherine lifted her glass of wine and took a large sip.
“How about you put your matchmaking skills to use with that one,” Catherine gestured over to Cain, who was standing beside Blake at the BBQ, both men enjoying the sun and beer together.
“I just might do that,” Emily smirked at her friend, causing her to laugh out loud.
The BBQ was a great success. Everyone was fed and watered, enjoying the late evening sun out on the terrace as they watched the world go by.
“Right, time for dessert then.” Emily jumped up from her chair to get the key lime pie and the necessary eating utensils.
“Who wants coffee with it?“ Emily inquired.
“Let me get it. You’re still recovering.” Blake zipped past her as he aimed a well-placed hip check that caused her to fall back on the sofa she had just got up from.
Blake returned with dessert, everything on a tray. The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted towards her as he placed it down on the coffee table in front of everyone.
“Now, before we start with dessert, I have an announcement.”
“Emily Sutherland,” Blake knelt down in front of her.
“Emily, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
“Oh my god.” Emily could hear Catherine squealing in joy beside her.
“Yep. You need to make an honest man out of me.”
“If you take me, you get it all. My love, my children, my friends, and my annoying family. I know you're used to being on your own.”
“But...” her face crinkled anxiously as she strove to be sensible. “A week and a half... we can't really know that we want to spend a lifetime together.”
“Well, then that's what long engagements are for. With my ring on your finger, we can move in together. You can then take time to know you are safe in your choice.”
Emily thought over the last couple of days. The risk is worth it, she thought. “I love you. Why wouldn't I love the idea of being your wife?” she laughed joyously as he picked her up and whirled her about the room in his embrace.
“Do you mean that?”
“Of course I do. I can't wait for my indulgent new husband to put an engagement ring on my finger, that we can blind the newspaper tabloids with.” Emily chuckled at the expression on Blake's face.
“There's one other thing. I made contact with your uncle. I told him I wanted to marry you, so we signed an agreement for me to buy the 10 hectares of land up behind his place for us to build a house on. We can move the studio onto it, or build a new one, so you don't have to move from Glen Point.”
“Oh my,” Emily could not take in what he had said. She felt light-headed at the prospect of what he had done.
“But you already have this home,” Emily gestured around her.
“Bit much if you ask me, mate, having to marry her just to get your hands on some good baking,” Cain mumbled as he shoved some key lime pie he had stolen from the tray in his mouth.
Emily and Blake turned to him, looking at him in disbelief.
“What? It’s great key lime pie.” Cain shrugged as Catherine hit him on the shoulder.
Emily gazed at the man she lovedthe man who had just asked her to marry him, the man who was putting her firstand smiled. Everything was going to be alright.
