A Twisted Rejection

  “I'm so sorry, mom but we need to get Mika inside before they come for me.” Not giving her a chance to reply I got out the car gently picking up Mika before heading in to the house.

  “Wheres Kaiden?” I needed to see my baby before I dealt with the repercussions of my actions. I had to make sure he was safe and away from that monster. I would never let that pack take my son as long as I have breath in my lungs.

  “He went fishing with your Dad they won't be home till later. Now please tell me what happened? Where is my baby and why do you have her child?” My mom’s voice was shaking, I knew she would know Jess was dead. She would be able to smell that. Telling her, however, was going to be one of the hardest things I would ever do. Laying Mika on the couch I wrapped a blanket over him before heading to the kitchen. Pulling out a chair, I waited for her to sit beside me and grabbed her hand.

  “I decided to go straight to Jess. I remembered the letter she sent with the pictures and address and headed there first. I was scared to face Kai’s dad alone and I hoped once Jess had calmed down, she would come with me. What I haven’t told you was that Kai’s dad is Lucas Knight Alpha of The Devil’s Knight pack.” Seeing that she was about to interrupt, I shook my head and my mom motioned for me to continue. Taking a deep breath to try to hold in the emotions that were finally trying to come out, “I know your mad, but please wait till I'm finished. When I got to the house it was obvious something bad had happened. The door was open, with the frame cracked so I went inside. I found Jess laying on the floor in her bedroom with Mika on top of her body. I’m so sorry mom, but she was gone. There was nothing I could do.” No sooner had the words left my mouth then my mom was wailing, collapsing to the floor. She just broke apart. I held her for a few minutes, but as heartless as it was I needed to tell her everything.

  “How? How did my baby die? Where is she? We need to go get her. You know she hated being alone.” Wiping the tears from her face, my mother jumped up and headed to the sink frantically scrubbing her face.

  “Mom, I need you to listen to everything I have to say. I promise we will get Jessica but you need to know everything. Nate killed Jess.” My mom’s eyes snapped up to meet mine and gone were the tears. Her eyes blazed with anger, her wolf was struggling to take over and I knew I needed to hurry up or she would be lost. “I don't know what came over me, I saw my sister laying there with this tiny child and I thought they were both dead. When I realized Mika was alive and he told me his daddy hurt his mommy and something snapped inside me. I grabbed the gun next to Jessica’s bed and bundled Mika up in the car before heading to the main house. When I got there Nate was outside, I don't know if he realized it was me or if he just smelled Jess on me but he smirked at me. He had just killed his mate and mother of his child and he was sitting there smiling without a care in the world. So I shot him repeatedly until some pack member tackled me. Lucas came out, there was a scuffle with him and the wolf holding me, but Mika started crying so I ran home.” By the time I was done I was already borderline hysterical again.

  Looking at my mother, I knew she was fighting to keep control, her eyes were flashing from black to blue and back again. The only sound was Mika’s faint snoring coming from the front room.

  “Ok, so you go get Marcus. Regardless of who her mate was Jess will always be apart of his pack. Nate, by matting Jess, is apart of this pack and he broke our most sacred rule. You do not hurt your mate. Killing her is punishable by death and baby his death will be agonizing. I will stay here and protect Mika. You just go tell him everything. I will call ahead and tell him you’re coming. I will also call your father.” The calmness of my mother's voice was terrifying but I knew not to question her. This was her way of dealing until we got Jessica back.

  “I love you mom, please don't let anyone take Kai and tell him I love him.” Giving her a hug I headed out, taking a quick glance at Mika. I knew I probably wouldn't see him again.

  Jess was pack, I wasn't. Marcus wouldn't protect me, but I would die to protect my family from that monster and his pack. The pack house was only a few minutes from my mother’s but the walk felt like an eternity. Not knowing how Marcus would react was weighing heavy on my mind. When the gate came into view Jacks, the Shadow falls Beta, was waiting there for me.

  Before I could say a word his arms engulfed me in a hug. His lips whispered beside my ear. “Mira I am so sorry. Jessica was a wonderful woman. Marcus is waiting for you, we will get her home and don't worry you did nothing wrong. We will take care of everything.” Jacks was always sweet on Jess. He had hoped she would be his mate from the age of five. I knew he was hurting almost as much as we were. There was nothing that I could say to him to make things better so I just nodded before turning and waiting for him to take me to Marcus.

  My nerves were completely shot, and I completely and utterly terrified. I just silently followed him to the Alphas office. Pushing open the door, Jacks held it open and motioned me forward.

  Sitting at his desk was Marcus the look on his face, however, was strange. Taking a seat in front of him, I finally realized that we were not alone. Standing, leaning against the window frame was a very angry Lucas.

  “Hello, again Mira. I think you and I have a lot to talk about.”

  “Why the fuck is he here?” I half yelled at Marcus knowing damn well that I shouldn’t but I was past the point of caring. “Did my mother not tell you what his piece of shit beta did?” I was panting by the time I was done.

  “I don’t know what you are talking about, all I know is you came to my fucking house covered in blood and smelling like death, only to shoot my Beta, then ran away like a coward. So please explain yourself before I lose my fucking temper.” Lucas spat at me, it was obvious that he was trying to keep his temper in check, but fuck him.

  “Fuck you, there is no way you don’t know what was going on. You are the fucking Alpha! My sister was beaten and killed by your fucking Beta and you are claiming you didn’t know. I am not just some stupid human, I was raised in the fucking pack I know how it works. Thank god, you rejected me or my son could be the one without a mother. I hope you rot in hell mutt.” I had to get the fuck out of here. There was too much emotion flowing through me that I couldn’t think straight. Just the sight of him made me rage.

  “It’s a good thing I did reject you since all you can do is whore yourself around. Pathetic humans.” It was clear that his anger was getting the best of him, but I couldn’t stop the flinch that his words caused.

  “Yeah I am such a whore, I have only slept with one man in seven years. You do the fucking math, you prick.” I said turning to leave because if I didn’t there would be another assault on my record. I had to get to Kaiden and get the fuck out of here.

  Nate

  Those pathetic little pups thought they could keep me locked up. Nothing will keep me from my son. I had taken care of then just like I had my sweet Jess.

  Shifting back into my human form, I stared up at the house before me. There were only two wolves inside Mika and his grandmother. This would be easier than I thought.

  One quick kick and the door imploded. A scream cut through the air as I came face to face with Gina, Jessica’s mom, I raised my gun and without a word put a silver bullet threw her skull. Watching her lifeless form slump to the floor filled me with excitement. Killing worthless animals had always been a hobby of mine. It was a shame though I usually liked to play with them first.

  Footsteps coming along the drive had a huge smile spread over my face. The bitch who shot me was coming, I could smell her still covered in her sisters’ blood. The smell was pure ambrosia. I couldn’t wait for her to walk through the door. After she sees her dead mommy on the floor, I will have her for my own. She was so full of fire and just the thought of slowly snuffing that out turned me on. She would be way more fun to break than Jess was. I always wanted to date sisters.

  Hearing her come closer I could barely wait I wanted to see the grief in her eyes before she realized that I had come for h
er. Hiding behind the kitchen door, I waited for my next victim. The sound of her screams would excite me, and I wouldn’t even have to find one of the pack whores when I was done. I could just use her, she was mine now. She was mine the minute she shot me. An eye for an eye is what I always say.

  Euphoric feelings filled me as I watched the pissed off expression on her face fade away as shock filled her from seeing her mother. The squeak that left her mouth filled me with joy as she fell to her knees and cradled her mother’s lifeless body.

  I couldn't stop the laughter that escaped. She really was pathetic. Her eyes snapped up and met mine they widened just a little as she realized how fucked she was.

  “Did you miss me?” I asked as I raised the gun and a loud bang ran out.
