  “Thank you.”

  “For?” I inquired.

“Choosing to be my mate. It was always your choice. I am honored that you choose this journey with me. I will not let you down.” The clouds above us broke and the full moon beamed into the center of the room.

He bent down until he was on his knees. He buried his face against my mound inhaling deeply. His hands held me in place, gripping my ass cheeks. He kissed a small trail that leads to my lip and slithered his tongue into the small space. I gasped. His tongue was warm and slick. He pushed and I went up, instinctively wrapping my legs around his shoulders. He stood up with me attached to his face. Not missing a beat, he used his tongue to spell out his name against my flesh. My body buzzed in delight. I held on to his shoulders as best I could. I wanted to press against his face harder. I was so close to coming. His tongue darted in and out over and over again until I came against his face covering it from cheek to cheek. He didn’t relent until our shadows we cast on the floor. The moon was finally in place. He let my body down enough where we could be face to face. My legs were in the crooks of his arms.

“I want so much more, but we only have so much time before the moon moves.” He smiled. I kissed his face tasting my own cum. I smiled as I pulled away. His stare was almost remorseful but still laced with lust and love.

“I love you. Please, brace yourself.”

I pinched my eyes closed. His wide girth had been tapping at my entrance for a while now. I’m not sure how but it felt bigger than the first time. With a few slight adjustments, he lowered me on to his dick. I was stretched farther than I had ever been.

  “Oh, GOD!”

His lips captured mine as I adjusted to the pain. The more we kissed the wetter I became. After a few more pushes, he was completely inside of me. I was filled to the hilt. He allowed me to catch my breath before bringing us down to the bed. Not once did he pull out. We stayed linked with me straddling his lap. O held my body close to his forcefully stroking upwards.

“Take it. Take it all!” he demanded.

He pulled my hair forcing my head back. He sniffed the space between my neck and shoulder blade. He ran his tongue over the space. He was choosing his spot. His heart was beating so loudly that I thought I heard drums banging in my ears. His face changed making room for his fangs.

I thought I’d be nervous, scared even. I wasn’t. I’d wanted this moment more than anything in my life. His eyes turned bright gold, and his canines pierced my skin.

His bite burned. I felt stuck in a humid fog. Bathed in moonlight our bodies rocked together on the threshing floor. I could barely breathe. I felt him expanding inside me. He released an earth-shattering howl as he came. I could feel the earth shake through the power of his release as a drowning exhaustion set over me.

“Good boy,” I whispered before falling asleep with him inside of me.

  O

I could curse myself for waiting this long. Cara slept in front of me peacefully. Her body was responding wonderfully to her conversion. Her skin glowed under the few rays of sun shining through the skylight. Her hair was wild, and her breasts rose calmly with each breath. She turned over on to her back. I smiled. I didn’t expect this to happen, but I feel blessed despite it all.

Cara has been asleep for a week. She has responded wonderfully to the venom. She will not be able to shift completely until the next full moon. That will be in three weeks, give or a take a week or two. It’s more so if Nasha decides to make it sooner. She follows her own rules and can be impulsive at times.

She rolled on to her back. The red satin sheets slid down her torso, revealing two beautiful mounds of soft brown flesh. I am glad that I don’t have to restrain myself. I leave my recliner to join her in bed. I pin her beneath me, and she slowly awakens.

“Good morning. OH!” She perked up feeling my tongue run across her nipples.

“I have waited quite a while for this.”

“Ozni, it’s only been a few hours, not that I'm complaining.”

“My love, you have been sleep for seven days.”

“What?” she exclaimed, sitting straight up. We knocked heads as she scrambled to get up. She felt nothing. I, on the other hand, was reminded of the strength of newborn wolves. My head throbbed.

“I’m sorry. Why did I sleep that long?” She kissed the spot she bumped. I pulled her into me and flopped her back down on the bed. My beast was awake and in need of my mate.

“Your body needed the time to recover.”

She moaned in response to my tongue against her mark. The crescent shape burned into her skin had healed and seemed more like a tattoo. Once I could focus again, I pulled her legs to the edge of the bed. I placed either leg over my shoulders.

“O,” she attempted to protest, but her beast was just as hungry as mine.

“Feed me, woman.” She gave in. A quickie turned into another day of alternating sex and sleep.

  Cara

My body didn’t seem that different. After I showered, I took in my naked reflection. Ok, maybe my stomach was a bit pudgy. If anything, I looked like I had received a good day at the spa. Then again, around the clock sex will do that to you. After another morning spent sexing each other into exhaustion, I ran off to get ready for my day. I promised myself that’d I would see Lystra. I pulled a peach pencil skirt from my closet and paired it with a white blouse.

I pulled the skirt up over my legs, but it became difficult to get it up my thighs. After a wiggle and a jump, it was on, but I really couldn’t move. I yanked the zipper so hard it that broke right off. Ok, fine. I’ll just put on the top until I could find a skirt that fits and matches.

“Oh come on!!” I gasped when the back of the shirt shredded. Frustrated I looked at the heaps of fabric that was once my wardrobe. Naked, I walked right across the hall into O’s bedroom.

  “Back so soon?”

I said nothing in response. If I said anything O would hop on me again. I simply went into his closet and grabbed one of his oxford shirts. I then grabbed his pajama bottoms and proceeded to dress myself. He stood in the closet doorway with a mischievous look on his face.

“That’s a good look on you.”

“I think Lystra and I may need to go shopping. Nothing fits me anymore.” My clothes were too tight, and his clothes were a bit baggy.

  “Today?” I nodded.

“Well if Anton is ok with it. I know he's still not sure about her leaving yet.”

“As am I with you,” he responded.

  “Why?”

He just started at me. I dropped my head to the side and stared back. A smile followed by light laughter graced his lips.

“Stick to the compound for the next few days. You can overnight whatever you need or continue to raid my closet.” He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead. I felt at ease. I could shop another day. If my safety brought comfort to my mate, then I would remain on our territory.

“Fine, I’ll just visit Lystra today.”

  “Yes, after.”

“After?” He tossed me over his shoulder. A smacked me on the bottom.

  “Oooh. After.”

“It’s open. It’s always open!” I heard Lystra yell.

I walked into Lystra’s home on cloud nine. I found her in the kitchen pulling out lemon cookies. They smelled incredible. I could smell them at the door. She looked different too.

He skin wasn’t as dull, and she didn’t seem so tired. Something was really different.

  She gasped.

  “Your fur is black?”

I was confused at first until I caught my reflection in the mirrored bowl on the table. My ears were out. The books said they would be the first sign of my change. Right on top of my head were two round furry black ears.

“Is that?” She pointed to the colored specs in my fur.

“Paint. It was in my blood. Years of it absorbed into my skin from painting.” I’d found that out during normal medic
al testing long before all of this happened.

“Wow.” She placed the cookie on a wire rack to cool. I noticed the slight giggle that escaped her lips. I hadn’t seen her this happy in a long time.

“You have a glow about you, Lystra.”

“Things between Anton and me are really good right now, and the dialysis is working. I did a full shift, and it wasn’t because I was hungry.” She paused and smiled even harder.

“It could also have to do with the-” I paused to count the sounds, then continued my sentence. “Three extra heartbeats in this room.“ She blushed.

“I was going to tell you the minute you woke up from your honeymoon. Oh, ha-ha honeymoon badum tiss.” I giggled slightly at her corny reference.

“Here’s, the thing I am only carrying two pups.”

“But I hear three heartbeats, Lystra.” I insisted.

“Yeah, I know. I do too. The thing is, I only heard the extra heartbeat when you came in the room.” My face dropped.

“What?” She put my hands on my stomach. I felt something squirm. I jumped. It was always a possibility, but I didn’t think I’d be pregnant this soon. I focused on the sound. Maybe Lystra was mistaken.

“Oh.” It was clear as day, a heartbeat in sync with my own.

Anton entered the house smiling with adoration for his wife. Some rather dirty terms echoed in my head. I suppressed the urge to gag. I really needed Ozni to explain to me how to cut off certain links.

“Well, I will leave you two be. Lystra, maybe we can meet up tomorrow morning?”

“Ok, love. Be safe.” She waved. I walked past Anton, and his head jerked up.

  “Congrats Cara!”

“Thanks.” I wondered if O knew about this. I walked along the compound taking in this beautiful fall day. Most of the families were handling yard work. I politely greeted them as I walked. It was a small community I felt blessed to be a part of.

“Cara?” I heard in my head.

  “Turn around,” the voice continued.

I followed its instructions and found O in the children’s park. He was playing an unfair game of tug-of-war. He had the rope wrapped around his wrist while four children pulled with all their might. He used his free hand to wave at me. I shook my head as I walked towards them.

  “Show off!” I said aloud.

“They asked me to join!” He laughed.

“Well then let’s make this a fair game.”

I grabbed the rope with the children and helped them pull. Even with me helping the pups, O had us at an advantage. He playfully let go, to let my side win. We all fell flat on our bottoms. The children laughed heartily, and I followed suit. We helped the children to their feet, and they ran off to play some more.

“Are you ok? I’ve never seen you out here with the kids before.”

“I usually don’t. I spend more time with them during school hours. As of this morning, I thought it wouldn’t kill me to get some practice in.”

“Practice?” I questioned. He didn’t respond. He simply placed his hand on my abdomen.

“I knew it! You knew the whole time didn’t you!” I punched him the arm.

  “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I wanted you to discover it on your own. I was hoping your natural maternal instincts would kick in.”

“They did, but they didn’t. I thought I was hearing three of Lystra’s pups.” He seemed confused and panicked all at once.

“You should have heard six hearts. Lystra is carrying two pups and so are you.”

“O, I only heard one heartbeat.” The blood drained from O’s face.

“Are you sure?” He was attempting to remain calm, but sweat was forming on his brow.

“O, you’re scaring me.” O pulled out his phone.

“We’re on our way to the maternal wing. Well, make the time!” he barked.

In a matter of minutes, we were at the Arnoux Hospital for Women, Infants, and Children. Edric met us at the gate door. He escorted us to a reserved ultrasound room. O helped me up onto the examination table.

“Can someone please explain to me what’s going on here?” I complained.

  “That would be nice.”

“This morning I heard two pups. She can only hear one.” Edric blew out a stressful breath of air.

He pulled out the necessary tools to listen to my uterus.

I knew once he placed the monitor on my stomach the heartbeat would fill the room and O would owe me a major apology. Only that didn’t happen. Five minutes later, Edric was still moving that monitor around, and the room was eerily silent.

“Cara, I need you to lie on your side.”

  “Doc, what’s going on?”

“Don’t panic. These things happen all the time. Your pups are just playing hide and seek with me. I will find them.” He assured us. I turned on my side as he instructed.

Edric moved the monitor around my stomach again. A whooshing noise began again, and only this time it seemed to echo.

“And that is pup 1 and 2.” I let go of the breath I was holding. O walked up to me and kissed me on the forehead, cheeks, and finally the lips.

“Can I go back to work now?” Edric complained.

  “Yes, Edric. Thank you, brother.”

  “Yeah, yeah,” he said playfully.

O was ecstatic but was staring off into space. One baby I could handle, but twins? Twin wolf shifting babies? Fuck.

  Malice

“We have sat in silence for far too long, abiding by their rules. We starve in the shadows, while they feed off the land.”

“I’ve been told heavy is the head that wears the crown. Well, I want to know how heavy that head is. I want the head of Ozni before me on a platter. This world will go to its rightful owners— not wolves, not humans, and not monsters. It will bow for the kings of the night. This planet will cower in fear when our dark queens step on to the thresholds of every door. We will no longer be referred to as the damned. We will be referred to as gods of the night.”

Before me, thousands of vampires gathered and roared in approval.

Aliyah took my hand and stood in her rightful position by my side. Her neck had healed beautifully from the wolfs bite.

Kaveed was the end of an era. We would no longer suffer behind the bi-law of the day walkers or their pets. Our independence was on the horizon, and I would see that we would come out victorious. I had the adoration of our people and their unconditional loyalty. The only wrench in my otherwise perfect plan was that of my brother Genesis. His talents were unmatched. His attack was swift, but his heart was too damn big. He still believed that we could all co-exist together. He seemed unmoved by the roaring crowd.

  “We attack tomorrow evening!”

The crowd rejoiced. Soon Ozni would feel our wrath.

I retired to my estate, and Aliyah went to our room.

“Will I see you later, my love?”

“Of course. I would just like to have a conversation with my brother.” She looked towards him, and he narrowed his eyes at her. She diverted her gaze hurt by his expression. She then continued her trail up towards the master suite.

“While in my home show some respect for my queen,” I warned Genesis.

My study sits adjacent to the entry of my home. I love it because of the custom fireplace. It was heavily ornate and made of fine white marble. My servants always made sure it was lit while I was home. I may not be able to feel it’s full warmth, but the dance of the flames entrances me. He sat against my cherry wood desk. As I watched the flames. Only crackling could be heard in the room. This conversation had been necessary for a long time now.

“Brother, I feel a bit of hesitation from you.”

  “Is that so?”

“Our battle will be a long one. It would bring me comfort to know you are on our side.”

“What side is that, Malice? The side of violence? The side of innocent bloodshed? Or is it the side of ghastly disrespect for the other living bei
ngs we share this planet with.”

“Can you not see why I do this? Do you not want our people to flourish?” Gen didn’t respond. As much as I want him to be on my side, I knew deep down he never would be. As long as it was my idea and my goal, he’d hate it simply because he hates me.

“Why do you hate me so?” I asked desperate to know. Outside of the obvious reasons he had no motive to despise me. He walked from the edge of my desk to the small table holding my precious collection of cognacs and gins. Henrik IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac3 Grande Champagne is as rare as it gets and was worth every neck I snapped to get it.

“Because,” he said, pouring the cognac from its carafe to his glass.

“You are an idiotic tyrant who will one day be the demise of our species.”

“Well, I’m quite fond of you too, brother.” Genesis downed his glass and then threw it into the fire.

  “Good night.”

  “Good night. Oh, and Gen?”

  “Yes, Malice?”

“I expect you to be in attendance to Aliyah’s dinner tomorrow evening. She really would like to make amends with you,” Gen’s face hardened, and he left the room without another word.

You see, much like wolves, vampires also take mates. Only when I say this, I'm a little less figurative. When I say take, I mean take, as in my queen was once Gen’s lover. He was in love, she was confused, and I needed a woman. So now Aliyah is my wife. I do love her let’s make no mistake about that. The fact still remains that my brother does too, and if he dares tries anything with my wife, I will kill him, lay his ashes in my bed, and fuck her on top of them.
