Callibet: Book 2 of The Bet Series
Page 20
Two months after that initial meeting, they were ours, and our home went from quiet to wild. It had been just over a year and a half since we’d adopted them. Our lives were filled with so much fun, laughter, and light, but it was challenging at times too. We still had the odd moments of discord, but Emma, our nanny, was amazing, and the kids loved her. She only worked with us during the week, but I was home for dinner almost every night and they would come and spend time with me at the stage for the TV show I was working on.
Selene was intrigued, and Fred, our director, loved having the kids around. He had three of his own, so he knew how hectic and crazy our life could be, but he always made space for the kids. There had been a few racist comments, but they were shut down hard by anyone who heard them.
My kids might have had different skin colour and DNA to Chris and me, but they were ours. They were our family, and we loved them fiercely.
“Callie, come on!” Chris called again as Emma came in and took Tucker from me, smiling as she surveyed my dress and make-up.
“You look beautiful, Mrs. Farmer.”
“Thank you, Emma. Is Selene ready?”
She smiled and stepped to the side, letting me see my daughter with her hair separated into braids, and her dark skin glowing with pride as she moved with her dress swishing against the floor. Chris came to the door, glanced at me, and winked before he turned to Selene.
“Wow, you’re stunning. You’re prettier than Mum.”
Selene’s face lit up, and I smiled to myself, proud of my baby girl and my man as he swept into the room in his tux and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead.
“I’m ready now.”
I readjusted my wedding ring and gave Chris a quick kiss before walking to our daughter and taking her hand, leading her from the flat we owned in London. We made it into the car before my mobile started to ring, and I answered it when I saw it was Beth.
She was glowing again, and only Chris, Charlie, and I knew why. Baby number two was on the way for her and Charlie. Dayton was at her grandma’s for the night, but we had plans to meet up over the next few weeks to hang out.
Our lives were so different to the first day we met. I was now a fully-fledged actress, and an international pop superstar (though I hated that title), and Beth was starring in her own show in the states.
We were both happily married, and our kids were our whole world. As I thought back to all the trauma we’d suffered, her with Warren, and me with everything I’d gone through, I knew one thing. We were so lucky to have the support of Chris and Charlie. They made our lives better and our smiles wider, just by being them, and we were so blessed.
As we reached the premiere, my phone lit up with a text from my other best friend, Wyatt.
Knock ‘em dead, Cals. Catch up this week?
He was back in London after a messy separation, and I looked forward to seeing him again. I had a feeling he’d hit it off with my newfound friend, Cara. She was Irish, spunky, and hilarious, but she was also sweet, kind, and down-to-Earth, even though she was drop dead gorgeous.
I was hoping to arrange a meet up that week, and as I text back a yes, my mind whirled with possibilities. The kids were going to my mum’s for the weekend, so I had the perfect opportunity to set them up. Perhaps it was time for a new bet. It worked for Chris and me, and for Beth and Charlie, so maybe it would work for Wyatt and Cara. Time would tell, but he deserved to be as happy as us.
My eyes met Chris’, and he mouthed, ‘love you,’ which I mouthed back, and I knew that we had forever together. We’d almost lost each other once, but with the Callibet, as he and Charlie called it, he’d won me back and never let me go again. He was it for me, and I was it for him. Our happiness was all that mattered, and while I’d been a victim of a terrible crime, I’d survived and with Chris by my side, I’d always be a survivor because he was my saviour, my soul mate, and my guy. It was him, me, and our beautiful kids against the world, and that was all we needed to be happy.

Well, it’s that time again…
After writing Celibet, Stacy and I were always going to write Callie and Chris’s story. They needed one. Although a little turbulent and rocky in places, we really hope you enjoyed Callibet.
It’s hard when you first start a co-write, you have to scope the other writer out. That was Celibet, this book was so much easier to write once we found the time to start. Even if Stacy did land surprises on me, smh. Again though thank you Stacy for wanting to work with me.
There’s so many people that make a book special they are like elves working away in the background polishing it up, so without a further ado…
A massive thank you goes out to Karen Sanders, our editor for making it amazing. You’re worth your weight in gold.
To Lee Taylor @Coffin Print Designs for the beautiful cover you designed. Its perfect For Callie and Chris!
I also want to say a massive thank you to our beta readers and arc readers for taking a chance on us as a duo rather than a single writer. It really does mean a lot. It’s been a hard 18 months and on so many people, but for us it’s been a busy one. The readers that support us make it a whole lot better and make this all worthwhile. We couldn’t make this little hobby a dream without you guys helping us.
Lastly my family and friends. I love you guys from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you enjoyed Callibet and if you did tell your friends about it. We’d love to hear their feedback. I know it’s nothing like Celibet but we hope you enjoyed it anyway.
Much love…

To Sienna, thank you for bringing Chris to life. I never imagined how amazing you’d make him and I’m so, so grateful to you for working with me and not strangling me when I blew things up and changed the direction. You are a star and I can’t wait to do it again (wink wink).
To my family, friends and especially my hubs and boys, I love you dearly.
To our readers, thank you so much for believing in me, and in us. Thank you for letting our words into your hearts and sharing this amazing book with your friends. We are truly grateful.
And that’s it. Sienna has covered the rest, but thanks again for everything to our arc readers, beta readers, cover designer, editor and formatter. You guys are totally amazing and your support never goes unnoticed. We love ya all.
Stacy ❤️
