I groaned and arched my back as my balls tingled and my cock spurted white ropes of come on my stomach.

“Yes, so beautiful. So perfect,” Xander said as he thrust into me two more times, harder than he had before. He grunted and I felt his own cock start to throb inside me.

“Yes,” I said as I reached down and grabbed his ass cheeks and pulled his body into mine as tight as I could. Fuck, he was so deep inside me and felt so good.

Xander buried his face in my neck as I felt his cock continue to pulse inside me. Mine gave one last effort to expel a little more sticky mess, and I pushed my hips up into Xander’s.

“Baby, you gotta stop,” Xander said and gasped as my channel squeezed his cock. He started to pull out, but I held him in with my hands.

“No,” I begged, not yet ready for him to leave.

“I’m sorry. It’s too sensitive,” Xander said as he looked down at me. I nodded and let go of his ass, and he carefully pulled out of me. I felt the loss immediately but didn’t say anything.

“You have a tub that will fit two?” Xander asked as he pulled off the very full condom. I know my eyes grew when he held it up.

“I have a garden tub. It fits one very comfortably, but we could probably be on opposite sides and be in it while sitting.”

Xander nodded, but instead of getting up, he pushed my left leg toward the right and then he plopped down beside me.

“Good. When my legs work enough, we’re going to try that. But right now, I want to hold you.”

I watched as Xander tied off the condom and placed it on the towel before he pulled me into his arms and kissed my shoulder. I felt his tongue come out as he started tracing my tattoos, and I couldn’t keep in the moan.

“You’re going to keep me busy, aren’t you?”

“I hope so,” I said as I reached for Xander’s face and pulled him in for a kiss.

  Xander — 20

My legs were tingly. I hadn’t come that hard in a long time. Back in college actually. How the condom held both my cock and the mess I wasn’t sure, but I was grateful.

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Didn’t you just do that?” Bishop said as he rolled onto his side and propped his head on his hand.

“I mentioned that I wasn’t looking for a quick romp, but you never said…”

“I’m good with seeing where things go.” Bishop sighed and turned onto his back before he continued. “My last sexual experience with anyone was a hookup with a twink from a club. He gave me a blowjob, but he wanted things from me I couldn’t give, so I apologized and left.” Bishop turned his gaze to me and winced. I smiled at him because I’d been there before.

“What did he want? Unless you don’t want to say.” I turned my body toward him and started running my fingers through the mess on his stomach. It was cool, just as the mess on mine was, and since it was uncomfortable on me, I was sure it was on him as well.

“He wanted me to tie him up, among other things. I’m not saying it’s wrong. I know lots of guys are into lots of things, but my dick immediately went soft.”

“Hmm, was it the tie-him-up part or the other things? Because I have to admit, I’m looking forward to being handcuffed and at your mercy, Deputy,” I teased before leaning in and tracing his tattoos with my tongue again.

“I’ll gladly cuff you, Doc. Just not sure about the other stuff. Maybe with someone I hadn’t just met, but with a complete stranger, I wasn’t feeling it.”

“You’re a good man, Bishop. My stomach is starting to itch, and your come is drying in my chest hair. What do you say we go see about that bath?” I leaned in and nibbled on Bishop’s chin before I gave his lips a gentle kiss. When I pulled away, I didn’t go far and I looked into those blue eyes that were still a little stormy-looking.

“A bath sounds great. And although you were incredibly gentle, I’m sure I’m going to pay for that thick cock of yours later.”

“I tried to prep you.” I felt bad because I’d wanted him as much as he seemed to have wanted me. But I knew I was thick, and I knew it could be a lot to take.

“I’m okay, promise. And besides, if we do this regularly, then it’ll get easier and I won’t be as sore after.” Bishop ran his fingers through my hair, and my stomach growling broke the moment. “Come on, let’s get clean so we can order delivery and eat. You can decide what you want while we’re in the bath.” Bishop rolled toward me, and then he was above me as he pushed me onto my back. He leaned down and gave me another kiss, and my body started to take notice that he was on top of me. I moaned into the kiss as I gave his waist a gentle squeeze.

“I promise, I’ll return the favor later if you want. But you mentioned a bath, and I owe you dinner,” Bishop said as he rolled off me, and then he was standing beside the bed. I reached over and grabbed the condom and followed suit, stopping when I got a great look at that glorious ass of his.

“You know, I really appreciate the fact that you do squats. It really…shows,” I said as I continued to stare at Bishop’s ass as he walked toward the bathroom. He gazed back at me over his shoulder and gave his ass a little wiggle before he snapped his fingers. My eyes met his, and he smiled at me.

“My eyes are up here, Doc.”

I smiled at the familiar phrase and couldn’t help but think very dirty thoughts. “Yes, they are. And they’re gorgeous as well. But your ass. I just want to bite it,” I said as I crawled out of bed, taking the towel with me. I caught up with Bishop on the way to the bathroom, and we were all legs and arms as we kissed on the way to the bathroom to clean up before getting dirty again.

We laughed at we playfully splashed each other from opposite ends of the tub. I loved Bishop’s smile, and I wanted to do what I could to see more of it. Too often I’d seen him come into the clinic, tired and stressed out. I knew some of that was because of the cases he was working on, but I also knew he felt bad about Oreo being at the clinic so much.

After we goofed off in the bath and our water started to cool, we pulled the shower curtain closed and turned on the shower, quickly cleaning up before drying off.

“Chinese,” I said as I rummaged through my bag for the pair of sweats I’d brought.

  “Huh?”

“Chinese. You said I could pick dinner. I want Chinese. I don’t get it at home because they don’t deliver. I can only get it if I take time at lunch to go over and get it then.”

Bishop smiled at me as he pulled on a pair of thick socks. He’d already dressed in warm sweats that hung low on his hips, and I couldn’t wait to explore what was inside them again, but my growling stomach let me know we should probably eat first.

“I have a takeout menu downstairs if you don’t know what you want.”

I nodded before pulling my shirt over my head. There was only one Chinese food place on this side of Jackson that would deliver, and pretty much everything on their menu was great. I reached into my bag and pulled out a clean pair of socks, and I quickly put them on and a pair of my own sweats. I walked over to Bishop and wrapped my arms around his waist before I leaned in, going for another kiss.

“Thank you,” I said as I pulled away slightly.

  “For what?”

“For being you and letting me be here like this.”

“You do know that I think you’re quite a catch, right?” Bishop said as he buried his face in my neck but started to slowly walk backward toward the door.

“Well, the feeling is mutual. I meant it when I said I wanted to give this a try and see where it can go,” I told him as I ran my fingers through his hair when he stood up and looked at me. Bishop nodded and offered another smile.

“Okay. Dinner,” I said as I started walking again. Bishop turned, and after he laced his fingers with mine, he opened the door. A black-and-white blur came flying in, her little ruffs so cute as she ran around in circles.

“I guess she was tired of being ignored,” Bishop said as he tugged me out the door. Oreo followed us down the stairs, and
when she went to the patio door, Bishop opened it for her and closed it before he handed me the takeout menu. Yep, it wouldn’t matter what I ordered—it was all good.

There were days I thought about relocating my clinic to Sulfur Springs to be closer to home. But then there were days that I was thankful I was in Jackson and closer to the larger city. Mornings like the last few, it was the latter.

It wasn’t my intention to spend the last three nights with Bishop at his place, but damn, it sure was convenient being so close to work. Although, I’d have to admit that he was cuddly and it could be difficult to drag myself out of the warm bed and away from all of that golden, smooth skin.

Oreo didn’t help. She slept on the bed, between our feet or under the covers with us. It was a habit that Bishop hadn’t started but one he refused to break, and I didn’t blame him. She really was a sweet girl.

But now wasn’t the time to be thinking about my lover and his adorable dog. No, now was the time to start cursing my mother. I loved her. Adored her. She was amazing and had done a fantastic job as a single mother after my father had run off on her when I was a baby.

But she sucked at business. How in the hell she’d somehow managed to keep Second Chance open for twenty years I wasn’t sure. But we were going to have to have a serious talk because this wasn’t working.

“Dr. Garrison. I wondered if I could talk to you for a moment.” I looked up at Dr. Waters as she stood in the doorway to the office I was currently in.

“Absolutely. Come on in and have a seat. But please, call me Xander.”

“Thanks.” I watched as she entered the office, quietly closing the door behind her. “I like it here, but when your mom hired me, she told me I’d only be working a few hours a week, and I simply can’t continue with this schedule.”

I nodded, knowing this was coming. “I understand. I haven’t been the one responsible for the schedule, but I can look into it if you’d let me know what hours you’re available to work.”

“Saturday. I can work Saturday only.”

I was a bit shocked because the position was for part-time hours. Not one day a week. I looked at Dr. Waters and raised an eyebrow at her in question. “I’ll need more than just six hours a week from you for what I know Mom set your pay at.”

“Saturday is all I can work. If you need more, you’ll have to fill it with someone else.”

“Very well. Dr. Waters, it’s been great working with you, but we’ll fill the position with someone else. We need a part-time veterinarian. Not a one-day-a-week one. I wish you luck in your other position,” I said as I stood up. I watched as shock registered on her face. I wasn’t quite sure what she’d been expecting, but I didn’t have time for this shit.

“Do you need help out to your car?” I asked as I stood in the now-open doorway. “Oh, Dr. May, I need to speak with you,” I said as the other veterinarian walked by.

“I’ll be right there. Let me drop off this paperwork at the desk,” he said as he held up a stack of files. We were busy, as we usually were in February. Sadly, many people got their kids a puppy for Christmas and right around February was when we ended up with four- and five-month-old puppies in the shelter. They were usually adopted quickly, some finding their homes, others returning in a few weeks.

“Dr. Garrison.” I looked at Dr. Waters and offered a curt nod and forced smile.

“We have nothing else to discuss, Dr. Waters. I have a dog trainer to find, another vet tech, and now another vet. So I’m busy. If you’ll follow me, I’ll escort you to your vehicle if you’d like.”

“No. I can get there on my own,” she said as she huffed and left. I held up a finger to Dr. May as he came back into the office. I needed to let Sarah, my vet tech here at the sanctuary, know that Dr. Waters would be leaving and she needed to watch for her. Once that was finished, I turned my attention back to Dr. May.

“So I heard she’s leaving?” he asked as he sat across from me.

“She said she was available to work Saturdays only, and I told her that wasn’t acceptable. I can do one of two things,” I said as I leaned back in my chair and stared at the older vet.

  “Which are?”

“I can either hire another vet, or I can see about getting two or three more techs. I know you came back because Mom had hired another full-time vet. I don’t want to lose you again so please work with me before you quit again. Rick has already said he’d be willing to work here on weekends after the clinic closes on Saturday.”

“I don’t think that’s necessary. The vet that is. You’re here part-time, and since you’ve started doing the ordering of supplies and things, the shelter is running smoother. What we could really use is another full-time tech or two, honestly.”

“And you’re okay with that? You weren’t before.”

“I quit because I hadn’t been paid in six weeks. Your mother is a sweet woman, but she’s not been very organized as of late.”

I groaned and cringed. Yeah, I’d quit if that were the case. “I’m sorry. I was unaware of that. I still don’t do payroll, but I know there shouldn’t have been an issue.”

“There hasn’t been an issue since, but I was under the impression that your mother had her accountant disbursing the paychecks.”

I shrugged but jotted down a note to add it to my list of things to do when I chatted with Mom later. “So, a tech or two?”

“If you’re available for a day of surgeries, then two techs should be sufficient with the two of us. It’s not that I don’t like my job here. I love helping the animals. But the schedule needs fixing, as does the amount of staff. It was better before she got married, but I understand she wants to spend time with John.”

I nodded again and made another note. “Will do. I’m meeting with her this afternoon. I know there are probably a few techs that are looking for work after having just graduated in December. Maybe I can find a pair of them. Rick might know someone as well.”

“That should work. But we need some more volunteers in the kennel area. Maybe we can advertise at the local high school. There’s usually a kid or two that’s looking for community service hours for graduation.”

I made another note and nodded. Why hadn’t Mom done any of this? I sighed, more than ready to go home. Actually, I wanted to see Bishop again, but I’d refrain. We couldn’t jump into a full-on relationship immediately.

“I’ll look into it. I’ll send a message to Ezra and stick him on that one. If anyone can find us some volunteers, it’s him. Anything else I need to address?”

“Not that I can think of, no. The biggest issue was lack of a paycheck. We all have bills, and right before Christmas is never a good time to not get paid.”

“I agree. Thanks, Dr. May. I’ll address these with Mom this afternoon.” I watched Dr. May get up and leave my office.

I put my list of issues to discuss with Mom aside and opened the folder with the applications that Ezra had printed out and given me. I chuckled at the sticky notes he’d added to each. I’d learned a while ago to trust him on most things because he ran my clinic like a well-oiled machine, and without him, I’d be fucked, and not in the way I’d hoped that Bishop would do soon.

  Bishop —21

“Earth to Bishop,” I heard in a drawn-out voice. I turned my head toward the noise, and it took a moment to focus on Adrian.

  “Huh?”

“Man, where are you? I’ve been talking to you for several minutes and you’re just not here.”

I looked around the room before returning my gaze to Adrian. We were in the conference room, still using it as our office since Alex and Kirk were working on their criminal case.

“I can tell something’s up. Want to talk about it?”

I nodded but glanced around and then shook my head.

“Hey, guys, we’re going to lunch,” Adrian said as he abruptly stood up from the table. I looked up at him but quickly got up and followed him out the door.

“Shouldn’t we invite them?” I asked once
I caught up. We stopped at our offices to grab our coats and pulled them on as we continued through the office.

“Not if you want to talk.”

I thought about that for a minute and had to agree. My mind was a mess, and I wasn’t sure how to fix it. Thank fuck we were out on assignment. Once we reached Adrian’s SUV, I climbed into the passenger side the same time he did the driver’s side.

“Okay, spill it. You were doing so good. You were happy, and I’m telling you, you were productive as all get-out. Then something changed, and yesterday and today, you’re lost. What’s going on?”

Adrian pulled out of the parking lot, and I sighed. He was completely right though.

“So you know I started seeing Xander, right?”

“Yeah, it was pretty obvious you two had something going on that night at Frankie’s.” Adrian glanced at me and gave me a smile.

“Actually, that’s really the night it all started. But that’s not the point.”

“Really? It seemed like you were already together then.”

I shook my head when Adrian glanced at me again. “No. And I’m trying to focus on work and wait until this evening to talk to him, but things were going great and then, I don’t know. He pulled away.” I looked out the side window and watched as downtown Jackson passed by.

“Define great.” Adrian turned and it looked like we were getting burgers for lunch, which was fine with me.

“He spent the night last Friday. We finally…you know. He spent the night Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as well. But then he’s been home since and I’m trying to figure things out.”

“Okay, definitely just wait. You said you’re going to talk to him this evening. Are you going out?”

“Yes. Maybe. Maybe we’ll just get delivery because I’m not in the greatest of moods.”

“I can’t see him just changing his mind all of a sudden. Maybe he’s busy?” Adrian suggested as he pulled into the parking lot of Five Guys. It was one of our favorite places to eat, even before Adrian and Cody got together.
