His Scorching Desire
Page 12
They walked briskly along the tall fence, eyes continuously scanning the area, but nothing out of the ordinary jumped out at them. Grizz risked relaxing a little.
“So is that the only reason you wanted me to join you this morning?” he prodded, looking for an ego boost.
Elektra smiled at him, a sight he’d never grow tired of seeing. “Of course not. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished for someone to train with. Now that I have you, I’ll never be lonely on my morning runs again.”
“Oh joy,” he deadpanned until she slugged him in the arm.
Nearby, a chubby blond boy with a bowl cut clambered out of a fancy car, hugged whoever was inside, and dashed off toward the playground to join his friends. Little bodies hung from the monkey bars, several girls played jump rope, and a couple of rambunctious boys ran in and around everyone else in a spirited game of tag.
“Want one?” Grizz asked quietly, watching her expression closely.
She blinked and whipped her head around to look at him, wide-eyed for a moment. Then her expression softened and she rested her head on his shoulder.
“Not right now, but…someday.” She tipped her head up to look at him with her warm black eyes, as dark and inviting as a star-filled sky on a summer night. “And lots of them.”
Grizz broke into a grin and wrapped her in his arms for a loving kiss. “That can be arranged.”
When they came up for air, Elektra smiled up at him. “But for now…try to keep up.”
Then she poked him in the stomach and took off running in a dead sprint. Grizz groaned and followed his mate.
As he always would.
