After she packed enough stuff for a few days, then she drove over to Angel's home. Of course, Angel opened the door before she knocked sending a shiver down her spine.
"Come on in." She waved her hand toward the living room where an old book rested on a table. Her house was clean with loads of old furniture pieces.
"What do you need me to do when I'm there?" Carmen perched on the edge of a silver vintage couch. It was soft and comfortable speaking volumes about the person who owned the piece.
"It's rather simple. You need to take this Grimoire and have them look it over, copying what they need to start their own book. Each coven needs one." Angel handed her a sheet of paper with a list of phone numbers and placed her hand on the book. Carmen could see that the pages were crinkled in a few spots, but considering how worn the leather appeared the inside looked good.
"Anything else?"
"Read over the Summer Solstice page and it will walk you through what you need to know. If you need help, call me or any other Elder in the coven."
"Ok." Carmen moved toward the book but Angel stopped her.
"First, come here." Angel grabbed both of Carmen's hands and led her over to a bowl filled with a dark liquid near the book.
"This is my Grimoire; each Elder has one of their own but mine has a few special spells I would like the new coven to have. We need to seal this book to you, so that it can only be opened when you’re near." Angel grabbed a small dagger and cut her palm, a few drops of blood fell into the bowl and then she handed it to Carmen. Who in turn made a small cut in her own hand. It burned like crazy as the blood fell. Angel started a short chant but Carmen was too focused on the blood falling into the bowl to pay attention. Her hand suddenly weighed more, as if she was holding the book despite the fact that her hand was empty.
"You will have that sensation until you bring it back to me. Make sure they use the first two spells on the actual book so it will be protected." Angel motioned to the book with a smile.
"I’ll be back soon." Carmen grabbed the book and the weight on her hand lifted slightly. She placed it in her shoulder bag and headed out the door. She had a long drive ahead to Austin since she had never left the Crescent Valley.
Crap, I hope my car can make it. Her eyes scanned the twenty-year-old Toyota Supra, she had seen it in a recent movie about street racing. The lead actor, Mr. Diesel, was fucking hot in her opinion. Carmen sighed and climbed into her car. In a few hours, she would meet the new coven. Maybe I can make it my new home. She took a deep breath. This will be a better adventure than being some dragon alpha’s whore.
The car sputtered to life and she was on her way. She glanced at the time while listening to the sound of the thumping engine.
“Please goddess, get me to Austin.”
