“You’re late.” She lets me in, and I stand in her door way.

“I’m getting used to riding my bike again.” I chuckle.

“You are?” She makes a face. I lean down and kiss her before I answer.

“Yeah, I drive something else to my big boy job.” I laugh. It was hard to give it up, but it wasn’t like I was wanting for cars. My dad’s ’87 Impala was still fixed up and collecting dust in the garage.

“How nice. You hungry? I made lasagna.” She waltzes into her kitchen and I follow her. The pictures she has around the house and decorations seem very like her.

“Starving. Where’s your dad?” I realize I’m whispering a little. Maybe I really am worried about meeting him. I just love Emily so much; I don’t want to mess it up.

“He’s been in his office all day. He goes over all his old car reports most of the time since he’s been back.” She makes us a plate and we sit and eat together. I fill her in on some of the other stuff going on with the company. She tells me about the kids’ final exams. She lights up when she talks about her work. Maybe I will too one day but I guess I’ll just have to see when I get there.

“This is the criminal charity work you’ve been hanging out with?” A deep voice comes out of nowhere and I almost choke on my beer. Emily giggles and turns around.

“Hi Dad. And no. Not technically at least.” She laughs at me and takes my hand.

“Um, hello Mr. Danielson.” I stand and offer to shake his hand. He walks over to me slowly, controlled in his movements. I guess he isn’t all that mobile yet, but I wouldn’t know. He has graying hair and an older face, but he doesn’t look too old. He mostly looks like Emily does.

  “Alex is fine.”

“Dad, this is Christian, um Kit.” Emily introduces me. I smile at her. She’s really the only one that can use my full name and I enjoy it.

“Nice to meet you.” I swallow and sit back down. He gives me a blank face I can’t actually read as he grabs a beer from the box in front of us. I know Emily wants to scold him for it, but she doesn’t.

“Hm. You know, Emily never did the boyfriend thing. I was prepared to find out she’s a lesbian.”

“Dad, you promised you’d never say that out loud.” Emily shrieks and I see her turn redder than ever before. I laugh at her, though, and hold her hand.

“Well, I’m glad that’s not the case I guess.”

“It’s the meds,” her dad explains himself. He goes through the usual questions of what I do and how we met. One of which we lie about, the other is kind of hard to explain. But once he knows I know about cars, it’s easy to get him to like me. At least I think so.

We talk for a while until he gets tired. I suppose he has to turn in early still.

“You look like you’re going to throw up.” Emily laughs at me and starts putting the plates away.

“I’ve never met anyone’s dad before.” I take a long sip of beer and finally start to calm down, no more clammy sweat on my neck.

“It was fine. He likes you.”

  “He was glaring at me.”

“That’s just his face.” She giggles. I smile at how happy she is. I get up and walk over to her, hugging her close to me. I can’t wait to get her in bed and take my time with her, but I obviously can’t do that here.

“Can I ask you something?” I kiss her cheek and hum into her neck. I missed her smell so much, the softness of her skin. Me and my hand got very bored.

“What’s that?” She kisses the corner of my mouth and combs my hair back, cupping my face in her soft palm. I inhale softly and look into her eyes.

“If we get married, we can’t kick your dad out of his house, and we definitely can’t live with my sister.”

“That’s not a question.” She laughs, and I’m glad that she doesn’t flinch at me mentioning marriage. It’s not like I have immediate plans. I’m not like Rafe. I need to take things slow.

“I guess I’m asking what you would want to do.” I chuckle softly.

She smiles slowly and slides her hands down my back. “I don’t want to live in an apartment. That’s about it.”

“Seriously?” I ask her. I don’t think I have to explain how much I can swing for; she’s seen the company that I own, it’s not hard to put the pieces together.

“Yeah. I mean, I wouldn’t want to leave my dad, but I can’t live with him forever. Neither of us should live in our childhood homes forever.” She giggles. I smile at her and agree, leaning in to kiss her cheek. I pull back and stare into her eyes, wishing I could freeze this moment right here.

“Emily, I don’t care where I am as long as I’m with you forever.”

  Prologue: Kit

Emily trails her foot up my thigh and I pinch her hand. She’s been doing it the whole time and I’m about to give up and take her out of here. But I would never hear the end of that.

“Are white coats some kind of aphrodisiac for you?” I lean down and whisper in her ear, hoping no one in the audience can hear me.

“Maybe. Do you have one?” She giggles and kisses my ear, flicking her tongue against the line. I groan and feel my cock hardening. This video will be very hard to explain to my sister.

“I can get one.” I turn and kiss her and then try to focus on the ceremony.

It’s been about nine months since we’ve been back together, and they’ve all been perfect. Unless we’re arguing about what to eat for dinner. We get to know each other more everyday and that’s the best part. I go to work every day and come home to her, sometimes we go to the club and have sex in the garage. It’s the perfect arrangement. I love her more than I did before, if that’s even possible, and I enjoy every second of it. We figured out the whole living together thing, no marriage yet. But I think about it all the time. We got a place close to the houses she works at and my company, and still close enough to see her dad everyday. He is still doing better and has gotten even stronger too. I’m glad because it makes her happy.

  She makes me happy.

Finally, it’s Amy’s turn to get her white coat to put on and the medical school diploma or whatever it’s called. I’m so fucking happy for her, after all she did for me and still finished medical school on top of it. It’s amazing. She looks ecstatic, and I wave to her from the crowd. I think she’s mostly just glad I don’t go in her clinic and get tested every three months anymore. Emily and I only exchange the best sex of our lives.

“See, it’s finished. Quick and dirty.” We stand in the crowd of people and start trying to leave.

“Oh my god, Kit. You’re insane.”

“You brought it up.” I nudge her side and then hold her close to me. Her cute pink dress is fitted and shows off her tits, just the way I like it. If I could, I’d pick out all her dresses for her.

“True. I think I see her.” She leads us through the crowd toward Amy and I spot her too.

We hug and all that jazz, then get out of the crowd of people super fast. She already did her match day and what not, but she decided to stay local so she could still live in the house. Everything just kind of fell into place the way it’s supposed to.

Once we get home after our celebratory dinner, we planned on resting before going to the club for more celebrating. But Emily and I took way too much time in bed, having sex every way I could think of until my dick was limp.

All the things we go through together have made us stronger, have made our love stronger. The kind I never thought I would get, or deserve, but she gives me everything and more. All I can do is return it to her.

The kind of meeting that started as a one-night stand and turned into something more like a fairytale. I loved every minute of it.

For Emily and me, it’s our forever.

  Synopsis

I have wanted her for years, and I never thought I would have her.

Amy Clemens has been the secret light in my life since I laid eyes on her.

I watch her every move, she lives in my dreams.

  But she off limits.

Not because I am dark, hardened by my life, but because her brother is my best friend and club brother.

I can't have her, no matter how much I want her.

Until one night she gets too drunk and I have to take care of her, and all the risks just fade away.

I need her. I want her. I take her.

And I don’t plan on letting her go.

  Darius

I don’t like social events. Mostly because I’m not a social person and also because people irritate me. Not the guys in the club. I’ve gotten used to their annoying tendencies, its more endearing than anything else. But other than that, the outsiders coming into the club looking for a good time, or a dangerous time, they’re the worst. Sometimes the women are okay, if they don’t literally throw themselves at me.

Like right now, the petite woman swaying her red hair and body in front of me isn’t getting me going at all. Maybe I’ve just been really stressed lately, or I’m just not interested in the same old routine anymore. No way to tell. I only came back into town because of Kit, his sister Amy finished med school and for people like us that’s big shit. Unless you’re Logan who went to college and reminds everyone for the sake of it. That’s why I never told anyone about my four years at the state college. I would never hear the end of it either. I like people being afraid of me because of how I look, that my tattoos and thick beard hiding my emotions means I’m up to no good. Because then they leave me be. It only worked in my favor for women sometimes, the ones who wanted the thrill, but once they really got a taste of me, they ran as fast as they could. So, most time I show them earlier that I’m not as much of a fun time as they think.

“You wanna buy me a drink or are you just gonna sit there?” The woman in question purses her lips at me, painted a glossy red color that must be nothing but messy. I stare at her for a second, wondering how she even knows Amy. We closed the bar so her party could be private, only guests allowed, and we have real bouncers to attest to that. After a bored sigh, I flag Spencer down. He’s bar tending tonight like he does most nights, even after being relieved from prospect status. The lady gets her fruity drink and starts sipping it.

There’s some chatter over at the pool area of the bar and I look over to see what’s up. The group of girls are unrecognizable until I see Emily, Kit’s girlfriend. The first he’s ever had. We like to pester him about that too. But what really gets me is the one distinct laugh out of all of them, a high-pitched sound that for some reason doesn’t drive me mad. I focus and find out that it’s Amy. Throwing her blonde hair back and laughing, looking gorgeous as ever in a tight blue dress. I swallow hard and look away. The only vice I’ve ever had is Amy. Since I met Kit, and he brought Amy around once or twice. She’s always been younger than me, always off limits. And so, I avoid her. And anyone else with bright blonde hair too.

“Darius? Are you listening?” The woman in front of me waves her hand. I wonder how she even knows my me before I notice my name under the logo on the left side of my cut. It tells me that she is one of the stragglers that hangs around the bar for one of the club guys. She knew exactly where to look.

“Oh. You’re still there?” I say pretty rudely; she scowls but doesn’t say much else. I’m ready to drag her to the back room and fuck her so hard up against the wall she can’t walk after and will avoid me for weeks. But another one of those loud laughs in the distance catches my attention and so I don’t.

“Excuse me,” I grab my beer and get up, leaving her at the bar to pester someone else. I find Kit over by the juke box with Emily. They’re both laughing at the old 90s toon they started playing. I remember it from my rebellious days, as if those are even over. But when your parents aren’t around rebelling isn’t really a thing anymore. Especially not for a club guy.

“You know your sister is getting pretty drunk.” I tap Kit on the shoulder and get his attention, he only laughs. We have been friends for a long time. I consider everyone at the club my friend, but I am close to some more than others. Logan and I are around the same age, so we have more in common. Kit and I have the annoying sister thing going on, and Rafe kept my secret since the day we met so he is number one in my book. Spencer is just fun, I never minded him.

“Yeah. She’s been reading medical books for four years so I’m letting her have fun.”

I look over in time to see her fall flat over the pool table, her dress hiking up her long legs. She’s tanned and has a toned body, but still with some meat on her bones. It makes my head hurt to look at her.

“How much fun?” I mutter. Emily giggles at me and shakes her head. She has stopped looking at me like I’m going to smash a bunch of tables and pound my chest so I’m glad we’re getting along now. There is only one person who never looked at me like that and I try to forget that every chance that I get to.

“I don’t know. But she’s a big girl, she can handle herself.”

“You’re only saying that because she doesn’t listen to you.” Emily swats Kit’s arm and he frowns. He is wearing a suit without his jacket; I’m used to it but most of the other guys were shocked. We usually wear ratty jeans and a tee shirt with our cut. I’m only used to it because I’ve seen him going and coming to his stuffy job in the city. I guess it isn’t stuffy since he stepped up to take over his dad’s company finally and has to play the part now.

“Maybe so. I’m waiting for projectile vomit. That’s usually her sign.” He snorts and goes back to loading the juke box with coins. I laugh because I would do the same thing to my sister Olivia who also can’t’ handle her liquor. But I don’t know why I still get kind of worried, watching her over my shoulder the entire night.

I chat with Rafe a bit about what I’ve been doing in the other town, with the Devil’s Prince’s. He’s like me and can never take a night off. At any other time, I probably would. But this shit going on with the other club has been bothering us for almost two years now. It started even before Tank left the club, so it wasn’t because of the change in leadership. That usually means a club is weak but Rafe never had those issues, he might even be tougher than Tank. He hasn’t accepted any new prospects and had a heavy hand when two guys tried to go rogue on one of our gun runs. But that doesn’t seem to help here. The Devil’s Princes is the second most powerful club next to ours, they want us gone. We want them gone too. It only makes sense that we haven’t been able to agree on anything.

“You two are workaholics.” Logan comes up to the corner table we’ve been sitting at. I had a good view of Amy playing darts which was just her running up to the board and stabbing at it. I tried not to laugh every few times so Rafe wouldn’t think I’m crazy or worse, looking at Kit’s sister like that.

“Hardly.” Rafe chuckles and sips his beer. I notice him looking over at Paige, his girlfriend, who is chatting with Chantal and Jeannine. He surprised me the most, not only settling down but getting married like an upstanding citizen.

“What’s up anyway?” Logan sits and I notice how tired he looks too. Must be the baby he and Chantal had. If I knew I could pick girls up at the bank I would have started going a long time ago. But everything is electronic now.

“I’m gonna join the Devil’s Princes.” I say. He makes a confused face, of shock and disapproval.

“It was Spencer’s idea.” I add, and Rafe scoffs like I’m throwing his brother under the bus. But it’s true. He’s the one that’s good at spying on people, keeping watch. The best way to do that is to be one of them.

“Right well, he isn’t that much of a reliable narrator in this case. He got caught.” Logan says when I remind him that’s what Spencer was into. Which is also true. His last ar
rest would have landed him in prison if Rafe wasn’t there to bail him out of trouble, literally. But now he’s on the straight and narrow, and we have the club to thank for that.

“The Devil’s Princes aren’t that smart though.” Rafe laughs.

I nod and Logan eventually stops looking like he’ll have a coronary. He always worries about me, especially because of what I do for the club. Being an enforcer means striking fear into people, violence is usually the best combat for that. I don’t like hurting people, and most of the time I don’t have to physically. But there have been a few times. A few mishaps that I’m not all that proud of. I’m trying to avoid that at all costs here.

“No, they aren’t.” Kit walks up at the right time. His eyes are glazed over, and his smile is lazier than usual. I take it he had too much to drink too.

“What are you guys talking about?” He leans over the table and smells like the bar itself. We tell him but know he probably won’t remember any of it until tomorrow.

“It’s time to cut you off.” Rafe clasps his shoulder after he knocks over the other table and then goes in search of Emily with him. They come back soon, and Emily is laughing at Kit who is hanging off her shoulder. I’m surprised she can hold him up.

“I’m going to drive him home.”

“Good thing he didn’t take the bike.” Logan chuckles.

“I can drive the bike. Sort of. By myself at least.” Emily admits. I nod because I’m impressed she can even do that. I tried to get Olivia to in the beginning, but she wasn’t for it, which is understandable.

“Who’s on Amy duty then?” Kit asks. He says he doesn’t want to drag her away from the fun and I understand that. From what I know, she doesn’t relax much. That’s not surprising considering the career path she chose; she is a doctor now after all.
