Turned out the staff did whatever you asked them to do. After Bennett had shown me where to shower and change clothes, I asked Bennett to leave the suite and go join the footmen. I preferred to change in private.

The wardrobe closet did have things my size. Even size fourteen shoes. And underwear. At first, the thought of wearing used underwear gave me pause. Bennett explained that clothes were replaced after they were worn. Undergarments and socks were discarded. Dress clothes and shoes were donated to charity.

I intended to be in bed when Jamie came to the master suite, so I wouldn’t be wearing much. The suite was stocked with every toiletry imaginable, and I was able to shave, brush my teeth, apply cologne, and fix my hair after taking a shower in the most luxurious bathroom I’d ever seen.

Then I settled into bed, even though only three in the afternoon. Hopefully, Jamie was thinking the same thing and would come back to the suite ready to finally consummate our marriage.

I heard a slight rap on the door, and my heart skipped a beat in anticipation. When the door opened slowly, Jamie was draped in a white, silk nightgown with a train. So stunningly gorgeous, she took my breath away and left me speechless.

“Do you like it?” she said as she slowly walked over to the side of the bed and climbed in next to me.

Before I could answer, she let out a pleasurable moan.

“I’ve never felt sheets so soft!” she said.

“I know. I feel like I’m lying on a cloud. In heaven. Can you believe it? And yes. I do like your nightgown. You look stunning.”

She snuggled up next to me. Her hair, still slightly wet. I could smell a number of different fragrances. Her skin was soft like it had been woven from gossamer angel wings.

I said, “I can’t believe our first time is going to be in the royal suite at Buckingham Palace.”

“I know! I can’t wait to tell our kids and grandkids this story. They won’t believe it.”

“I didn’t think you were going to talk to them about sex. Remember?”

“Come on! We have to tell them about this. It’s too amazing not to.”

  “I suppose.”

I turned so we were facing each other and kissed her passionately.

“I told you our first time was going to be exciting,” Jamie said.

  And it was.

Not exciting like I thought it would be. Better.

More tender. Passionate. Romantic. Gentle. Slow.

I was so focused on Jamie I hardly noticed the suite.

I think it’s how God intended it to be.

Without a doubt, the best moment of my life.

  NOT THE END
