The Outlaw's Heart

Page 26

by Amy Sandas

His arms tightened for a moment before releasing her. Turning, he held the door open for her to pass through. The familiar earthy scents embraced her, welcomed her.

She turned back to face Gabriel as the door closed behind him.

Unwilling to waste another moment, she stepped up to him and took his face in her hands to draw him down for a kiss.

Her calm confidence shifted into quiet desperation as the smell of his skin filled her nostrils and the heady taste of him intoxicated her.

His arms came around her waist, and he lifted her high against him as he slowly turned her toward the bed. Laying her down, he followed until his body settled heavily atop hers. The kiss grew more urgent as desire claimed her, heating her blood and infusing her brain with the need to get closer, to feel him inside her.

With a low growl of hunger, Gabriel grasped her skirts in one hand, dragging the length up to her hip before he reached beneath to cup her buttocks in his hand. She lifted her leg over his hip, urging him to press harder to the place that ached for him.

  He pulled back instead.

The weight of his gaze—the heat and ferocity—was a stark contrast to his sudden physical restraint.

She touched her fingers to his mouth. She could afford to be patient. All would come. Everything she needed was there in that moment. Her future was now.

Lowering his head to rest his forehead to hers, he looked deep into her eyes. In a low voice, rich with emotion, he said, “Today and all the days I am blessed with in this life, I will love you. I share myself with you,” he vowed, saying the words she’d once said to him.

Love filled her heart, grounding her and giving her wings. She lifted her chin and murmured against his lips. “I love you, now and always. And I share myself with you.”

The kiss started as a seal to their vows, but quickly slid into a promise of passion.

His tongue licked and teased, delving past her teeth to taste her hidden desires. There were no secrets between them, no walls, no resistance.

They shed their clothes as they shed their pasts, leaving them naked and trusting in each other’s arms. Needing only each other. Needing only love.
