  “Oh, if only you’d be that easy on me for anything,” he said wistfully, chuckling when I reached behind me and bopped him on the head. “Shut down the hack?”

  “No.”

  “Yes,” Elijah interjected. “It’s not good for any of us to be hacked by governments, as it gives them access to names and more when too many hide for good reason. Plus, they’re not as honorable as you are, and it’s a foundation for fabricating evidence for investigations and more.”

  I opened my mouth to argue that if you had nothing to hide, letting people take a peek wasn’t a problem, but he was right that not everyone did good with that information. Plus, I had secrets to protect me, and everyone was allowed that.

  “Fine, but I’m keeping a backdoor in,” I said firmly, shaking my head when others objected, even getting off Aidan’s lap. I met the head guy’s pissed off gaze, swallowing the need to hide behind Elijah as the vampire’s power hit me. “No, you had your chance to be the good guys and punish those who abused any supes, but instead you said just not to draw attention to it.

  “Enough of that shit. We organized. We’re more powerful than you now, and this will make you think twice before trying anything. I will do you this favor and kick out the human governments, even get back the data they took, but I’m keeping a backdoor to make sure you accept this progress. Take what happened in LA as a warning of how things will be now.

  “Warn your covens that if they have demons, they should let them go, not just bury the evidence or kill them, but let them go because we will find out if they don’t. We’ll find out if they’re holding demons for their power or abusing them. Make it very clear that they get this one chance to reset the scales and if not, they will not like the consequences as LA was nothing to us.”

  “That is quite the threat,” he said after several moments, his tone making it clear he wasn’t buying it.

  I nodded, going back over to the laptop and bringing up what I’d found in a hidden device on the network. It was cloaked as a printer, but it wasn’t, and it wasn’t hacked like their other computers. I pulled up what they were hiding, as it was the only file.

  I smiled evilly when I felt the desire in the room shoot up that I not take that file. “I already sent a copy to my system and to Elijah’s computer just in case.”

  “What is the file, darling?” Aidan asked quietly.

  “A full register of ever vampire in the world,” I purred. “It’s every coven leader and the list of every member of those covens currently. It’s the names of possible rogues or ancients that don’t want to be on the council or mainstream.” I smirked at the head guy. “You didn’t even password protect it, which printers on secured networks have, so while you did cloak it as a printer, it’s still vulnerable.”

  He waved people quiet when the uproar started, his gaze never leaving mine. “Would you agree to discuss with your lover before taking any action with that backdoor?”

  “Not sure we’re lovers yet,” I grumbled, rubbing my tired neck as the need to feed grew with the stress. I glanced at Elijah who nodded. “Fine, I will give Aidan a warning if I find something I would act on, and he can have a very small window to fix it.”

  The main guy nodded. “And what happens to those that release the demons, assuming they weren’t getting protection from the coven?”

  I snorted, narrowing my eyes on him. “We both know that most of those ‘protection’ rackets are to sit at the leader’s side and do whatever for him and he’ll keep the others in line, which was harassment under his orders to start.”

  “I think that depends on what they’ve done,” Natalia interjected. “A reduced sentencing for handing them over, but you will punish them to keep our relationship friendly.” She let her power out when they started grumbling. “That’s not open for discussion. There are laws and rules about not hurting other supes, which we are included in even if no one was enforcing it. Should we tell ISLE?”

  “You already took a hit with this coven in LA they knew about,” Joshua added. “We found more sins than just the abducted demons and sex slave ring. Punish them as they should be, or you risk more coming to light when we handle it on top of our wrath.”

  “Fine, a backdoor then,” the head guy agreed, holding up his hand to silence the others. “She has everything. You cannot be so dense to think our phones are just it.” He focused on me. “Close the hack and get the information back and we’ll take the deal. I will even invite one of your council to sit in on these meetings to explain situations and sentencing.”

  I bit back a smile and nodded. He was saying the right words, but every demon there knew his desires were to steal me from Aidan and the demons to be his pet that did everything he wanted. Idiot.

  “I would suggest making sure there are reparations to the victims, as demons believe in getting their pound of flesh,” I warned them before pulling up the proof of that. “That’s the fund set up for the fifteen lust demons we rescued and I just got started before we were called here.”

  “That’s a bit much,” one of the councilmen stupidly muttered.

  “No, it’s not for what they did to those women,” Elijah seethed. “They starved them. Think of your thirst. Think of that feeling and how close we’ve all gotten to losing our minds needing to feed.”

  The head guy nodded to me, admitting it was fair basically.

  Score a win for the demons then. For once.

  Aidan kept his feelings under wraps, but the moment we were through the portal back to home base I could feel the truth, flinching at the anger and upset coming from him. Luckily Sebastian was there and let me feed from him before asking Elijah what he could do to help, as he was also an international attorney.

  Mason glanced between us, looking worried, but didn’t say anything. “I put a spell on the master suite so no one will hear anything as long as the bedroom door is closed.”

  I nodded and headed right there as Elijah thanked the others for coming. Aidan was hot on my heels, and the second we were alone in the room with the doors closed, he pounced, grabbing me and dragging me against him.

  I swallowed loudly as his desires hit me. I had been so focused on our side, seeing the big picture for demons, I hadn’t paid attention at all to his position. I pulled away from him and started undressing, my gaze locked with his until I went over to the bed and got on all fours with my ass facing him.

  “Can I assume this is your acceptance you deserve to be punished, darling?”

  “Yes.” I hissed when his hand flew, the sting turning into pleasure.

  “Why am I so upset?”

  His hand flew again. “Are you?”

  “And if I prove that trust right? Will you be my lover too? Will your Sloan cover be my girlfriend, darling?”

  I swallowed loudly and nodded.

  “I’ll be your girlfriend. I will as Sloan.”

  “Good. Then I have my lover’s permission to spank this pert ass all I want and she accepts my punishment for being bad?”

  “Yes,” I hissed when he slapped me again. His hands moved faster and faster and switched up not just where they hit but how hard and if together. It was glorious in a way I’d never experienced with this sort of play.

  “I know, but we took some of that decision away from you by not fully filling you in,” I accepted. “I won’t do it again. I can cover you better and still be on team demon. I’ve never had that line to ride, and I’m sorry I didn’t do it better.”

  “Thank you for understanding why I was angry and hurt.”

  “You’re still hard, and I was very bad,” I murmured against his lips.

  “You were,” he growled, grabbing my wrists and holding them behind my back with one hand as he thrust up in me, taking us both on a ride that we enjoyed. “I’m still hard.”

  “Wait, I need a bit more time,” I admitted, my joints aching a bit too much for more just yet. “How about you call that head guy?”

  He raised an eyebrow at me as he turned us so we were on our sides. “And tell him what?”

  I cleared my throat and looked at his chest instead of his piercing green eyes. “That you convinced me to beef up their security, not just kick people out and leave a backdoor. When I realized how bad this all made you look, I was going to offer it, but then I thought it might be better to let you have the win after, as it’s not going back on what I said, but I could deal with you being able to sweeten the agreement.”

  “Shit, I wouldn’t have been nearly as upset if you told me that first,” he admitted.

  I shrugged. “I deserved it for not discussing things with you first.” I bit back a giggle. “And I enjoyed it, so really ‘punishment’ might not be the right word for it, but I will make sure to misbehave in the future.”

  “Of course you will,” he drawled. He kissed me again and rolled off the bed, retrieving his phone from his pants. “Am I allowed to play up our relation a bit so it’s clear you’re mine and to come for you might risk having you on our side?”

  I nodded, realizing I needed to tell him what I’d felt from the top guy. He was not happy. He tossed his phone on the bed and went to the bathroom, cleaning up and bringing back a washcloth to take care of me as well.

  “Thank you,” I whispered against his lips.

  “For getting angry?”

  “For getting angry at how he wants to treat me,” I murmured, giving him a heated kiss.

  “You are so much more than idiots will ever truly understand, and I may be dense, but an idiot I am not,” he promised. “I value you, which is why I’d beg, and yes, stalk a tad to make you mine.” He picked up his phone and scrolled a bit before connecting a call.

  “Aidan?” the head guy said as he answered.

  “Gavin, sorry to disturb you, but I thought you’d want to be updated right away. First, I wish to thank you for having desires to steal Sloan from the demons and out of my hands and make her your pet who obeyed your every command. It’s helped me convince her that one pushy junior councilman she likes is much better than the possible alternatives and we’re now involved.”

  “Oh, is that what we were discussing?” I teased as I fell back to the bed. “Hmm, we’ll have to iron out some of the details of that.”

  “They were such tough negotiations after all,” he chuckled, his eyes flashing heat as I spread my legs.

  “Really, you didn’t go there?” I snorted. “Yes, you were very rough with me, but I squeezed you just as good. You were hard…” I blinked at his dick. “For the love of fuck, does that thing ever go down?”

  “Not around you, darling,” he murmured. “So thank you, Gavin, as you helped me make her mine.” He leaned over and kissed my clit loudly. “Oh yes, very mine.” He gave me another kiss, and I moaned.

  “Glad I could help,” Gavin drawled, his voice dripping with everything not happy. “Anything else?”

  “Yes, I talked her into not only kicking out whoever hacked us and getting the information back, but securing our system the way it should be.” He kissed me a few times as he talked, making me squirm and not even have to play up my acting.

  “Did you have to call him while we were still playing? Seriously? Should I go find someone else to play with?”

  “Your body needed the time out,” he argued.

  “Mm-hmmm,” I moaned as he teased me. “Fine, I’ll take the job, but they’re not coming to me with questions and all that bullshit that we know they just want access to me.”

  “I get to be your broker?” Aidan chuckled.

  “Yes, and your commission is I get to ride you however I want one night for each system.”

  “That’s a gift, not a problem,” he snickered. “Such a steep cost.”

  “Well, on top of my normal fee,” I drawled, frowning when he did. “Aidan, I’m not doing it for free. You talked me into taking the job. Fine, you vouch for them, and I’ll fix their systems, but I don’t take any job for free.” I sighed when he gave me a perturbed look, not even having to hide my annoyance. “It’s not a Windows update I’m installing. You’re talking weeks of work.”

  “Really?” he asked, Gavin echoing him from the phone.

  “Yes,” I huffed, trying to think of how even to explain it to them. I snapped my fingers and pushed up onto my elbows. “Think of it like a new building. Sure, you put together the parts offsite, but you assemble it at the location. That’s what you do in each network and with some tweaks or everyone could use their own configs to break into other systems.”

  “That actually makes sense,” Aidan admitted. “Half off?”

  I gave him a look that he was pushing it. I didn’t answer right away, rolling my eyes when Gavin chuckled and muttered something about trouble in paradise already. “Do you know how to navigate a visit to China?”

 
His eyes flashed shock, but then he nodded. “Yes, why?”

  “I want to go to DEF CON China 1.0 this summer, and the Chinese government have made some… Aggressive inquiries to work for them that I’ve not responded to as they want. I’m pretty sure if I just show up I won’t leave again, and it would blow my human cover. I’ll do half if you navigate all that adult stuff I don’t want to and keep me safe.”

  “Deal,” he agreed. “What else will you offer me, darling?” He moaned when I slid off the bed and to my knees. “Of course I would accept that, but I don’t think that Gavin needs to still be on the phone.”

  “Finish your call then,” I purred before I swallowed him down.

  “There’s no blood in my brain,” Aidan grumbled. “Does that help our situation then?”

  “Yes, as we realized we should have asked for that after you left and clearly she’s worth whatever she charges given she walked right through us,” Gavin answered. “We may never have her under us like we’d want, but access to her is the next best thing.”

  I bit back a nasty retort as his tone made it clear he wanted to add “at least for now” like it was still the plan for later. Aidan caught it too as he smirked down at me.

  “You’re not going to hum as you suck it this time?” Aidan murmured like he was covering the mic on the phone, but we both knew he didn’t so Gavin would hear. I smirked at him and did. “Shit, yeah, just like that. What else will you give me, darling?” He chuckled when I reached up and massaged his sac. “Not what I meant. What about physical security?”

  I pulled off his dick with a naughty pop. “Seriously? You want to discuss this while I’m blowing you? Say goodbye and hang up the fucking phone.”

  “I’m sorry, just a bit.” He shook his head when I opened my mouth. “I have people to protect too. I have people that rely on me to stay safe, and you helped us by finding out what you did, but you’ve opened Pandora’s box in a way. I doubt I’m the only one who’s thinking this or worried.”
