Chase's Teacher

“Good morning baby.” Chase said as she walked in the kitchen. “How are you feeling?”

“Good actually. Kinda hungry, that smells amazing.” Callie told him smiling brightly.

“Then you better get over here and eat. Do you need me to pack you anything for lunch today?” He asked her.

“No thanks, Mom.” She told him sarcastically.

“In that case, what about milk money?” Chase said enjoying picking with her.

“No, but hot chocolate to go would be nice.” Callie said reaching for hers.

“Already covered my love.” Chase said handing her a thermos.

“Thank you baby.” Callie said digging into her food, she didn’t stop till she was finished. “I am sorry to rush you, but I have to get to work are you ready to take me?” She asked him.

“Callie you’re taking my truck today, remember. Here’s the keys and there should be plenty of gas, just be careful.” Chase said walking to her and giving her the keys.

“I promise I won’t hurt your truck.” Callie said scowling.

“I don’t care about the truck. I want you to be safe.” Chase said pulling her in and giving her a lingering kiss. “Are you coming back home after work, or do you have somewhere else you have to go?” He asked her.

“I’m coming back here. Don’t forget we have an appointment tomorrow.” Callie said walking toward the door.

“I love you.” Chase said giving her one last kiss before she left.

He cleaned up the kitchen while he waited for Luke, then he went up stairs to make a list. Going back down he sat on the couch and drunk his coffee while he waited. Callie had looked so happy this morning. He hated that she got sick, but she had felt better pretty quick and even ate her breakfast.

“Hey, so what’s the plan?” Luke asked taking a sat in the recliner.

“Okay, I have alot to do and not alot of time. I had a contractor here yesterday and they are suppose to be back today to start on the bathroom. Can you hang around while I run get a few things for Callie and look into a car?” Chase asked him.

“Sure, as long as we are getting a dishwasher too. Is Callie coming back here tonight?” Luke asked pretending he didn’t care.

“Yeah, she called this home last night when she was on the phone with Chasity.” Chase told him smiling so big his face hurt.

“That’s great. Maybe she will move in soon. Anything else you need me to take care of today?” Luke asked looking like a kid in a candy store.

“I’m going to bring some of her things here, so I might need help unloading it. Could you call and see if Chasity wants to come over tonight? We could have a welcome home party.” Chase said rubbing his hands together.

“She already agreed to move in?” Luke didn’t look convinced.

“I told her it was a trial run, I just didn’t tell her she isn’t going home. Actually, let me talk to Chasity. I need to see if she has a key to Callie’s place.” Chase said heading for the door.

“Good luck.” Luke called after him.

Chase went to the bakery to talk to Chasity first. She gave him the key, and agreed to dinner tonight. She looked happy for them. Then Chase went to her place and grabbed some of her clothes. After that he went shopping. He wanted her to have lots of nice things. She dressed nice anyways, so he bought things similar to what she had. He bought shoes and lingerie. He hadn’t found any at her place, but every woman should have nice things. He even stopped at the maternity store and got a few things that should be good for when she started to show so she wouldn’t be uncomfortable.

Next stop the car dealership. It was already noon and he had to be home before her. He had no idea what she wanted, but he needed her to be safe and for there to be plenty of room for when the baby came. He went with a smaller SUV, four wheel drive and automatic with all the extras. She would fight him at first, but she needed it, and he needed her safe and happy so it was a win-win. They even agreed to follow him to his place to drop it off.

“Chase, that looks like more than picking up a few things at her place.” Luke said walking out when he pulled in.

“Yeah, I know.” Chase said grinning. “Come look at this.” Chase waved to his brother as the people from the dealership pulled in. The guy got out handed him the keys and got in the other car to leave.

“Holy shit! You bought her a car.” Luke said walking around it.

“I did. I wanted bigger, but I know Callie isn’t into flashy. This has excellent safety ratings and lots of room. I got it with all the extras. It even has back up cameras.” Chase said opening the door to show his brother.

“It’s great, but she won’t take it.” Luke said shaking his head.

“Sure she will, she won’t be happy about it, but she will take it. It will be safe and reliable for her and the baby.” Chase told him. “She will chew me out I’m sure, but it’s worth it if it makes her life better. Now help me get these bags out and up the stairs.”

Chase took great care in folding and putting away all the clothes. He knew she would want to wash the lingerie first so he laid it out on the bed so she could see it before washing it. He also put some of his older shirts in her pajama drawer along with her things. The bathroom was a total loss at the moment. He was glad he had moved their things to another bathroom. He had moved the car behind the house so she wouldn’t see it when she pulled up, and went to sit and wait on the sofa. They needed a new living room suit too. He would take her to pick that out tomorrow.

“Hey baby.” Callie said walking through the door and coming to him.

“Hi love. Was today better?” He asked kissing her.

“Much better. For some reason I’m full of energy.” Callie said wiggling around like the kids she taught.

“Great. I have a few things to show you.” Chase said leaning in for a long kiss before taking her upstairs.

  *****

Callie felt like a ball of energy. She had bounced around at work playing with the kids, and skipped to Chase’s truck, actually skipped. She was excited to be going home to him. She was ready to change clothes and maybe ride or brush the horses. Maybe she would just ride Chase. That sounded like a great idea as she followed him up the stairs, until she saw the bed.

“Chase, why do you have that all over the bed? Is something going on?” Callie asked as her insecurities flooded back.

“No Callie. Don’t go there. These are all for you my love. I left them out figuring you would want them washed before putting them away.” Chase said pulling her close.

“Chase, I have plenty of things at home.” Callie told him frowning.

“I know, would you just look at them and see if you like them?” Chase asked pushing her toward the bed.

“They are all gorgeous Chase, of course I love them.” Callie said leaning over the bed. There was so much here, lace and satin and see through. The tags had been removed but she could see enough to know the brands were expensive. “This is too much Chase.”

“Come on, look in here.” Chase said pulling her to the closet. He opened it showing her a full closet but only a few things were hers. “I know you like more relaxed clothes, so that’s what I got, but I got a few things just because I wanted to see you in them.” He told her smiling. “Come look in the drawers.” He sounded like a kid at Christmas.

“Chase, why did you buy me all these things?” Callie asked frowning, was her things not good enough?

“I want to spoil you baby. I even got a few things I pushed to the back of the closet that are maternity so that when you start showing you will have a few things till we can go shopping.” Chase said his face so full of joy she could hardly stand it.

“You don’t have to buy me Chase.” Callie told him softly, before going toward the bathroom.

“You can’t go in there Callie, the construction crew started work on our new bathroom today. They said they may have it done by the weekend if they get to work longer through the week. I didn’t think you would want them here whe
n you first got home today without warning. I’m not trying to buy you baby. I’m trying to spoil you. You deserve the best of everything.” Chase said wrapping his arms around her. Callie kept her back to him crying.

Chase went to the bed and put everything in a bag before pulling her over to it. He laid down with her and kissed her softly. Her independent side wanted to be mad, but her girly side loved that he wanted to take care of her. Callie turned in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck. She began with a slow kiss that he quickly took charge of. She made love to him slowly. She had all the time in the world to be with him. He worshipped her body as she did his. When they finished he helped her dress in her new clothes and they went down stairs.

“Callie, I have something else for you out back.” Chase said pulling her to the door.

“Chase ,I don’t need anything else.” Callie said pulling back against him.

“Actually you do.” Chase said and opened the door.

“Chase.” She gasped starting straight ahead.

“It is fully loaded and small, but big enough for us and the baby. It even has back up cameras, leather seats for easy cleaning. Best of all, it has the highest safely ratings.” Chase told her as he pulled her beside it and opened the door.

“No Chase, I can buy my own car. This is way to much.” Callie said pulling away.

“Think of it as ours. It will be much safer for the baby in here than the truck. You will be the driver, but it is for our family.” Chase whispered softly in her ear and Callie started crying again. “What’s wrong? I wasn’t trying to upset you. We do need this. It will be easier when the baby comes and I won’t be worried you will get stuck somewhere.” Chase said the panic was clear in his tone.

  “Our family.” Callie whispered sobbing.

“Yeah you, me, the baby, and our siblings, but I hope we don’t have to ride much with them. They are a handful.” Chase said turning her in his arms. “Please tell me your okay.”

“I’m fine, just overwhelmed. This is all so much so fast.” Callie said leaning her forehead against his chin.

“Callie, look at me.” He waited till he could see her eyes to continue. “Does it feel right?”

“Yes, more than anything.” Callie whispered back, but Chase pulled away from her.

“Callie, fast or not, I can’t live without you. You stole my heart when I saw you at Susie‘s.” He started and slipped down on one knee. “Every second with you is the best of my life. You have made this house a home and made me complete. I love you more then I ever thought possible. I can’t wait to see what happens next, but I need you beside me on this adventure. Will you marry me?” Chase asked. She could see the shimmer in his eyes and felt them rolling down her cheeks. She knew he had pulled out a ring, but she hadn’t looked away from his eyes.

“Chase…” Callie began, but had to take a breath. She felt like she couldn’t breath, but she must have paused to long because she saw the light in his eyes dim. “Y-yes. I love you.” Callie pushed out quickly.

“Really.” Chase said wrapping his arms around her.

“Yes.” Callie whispered against his lips. “I love you.”

“Oh God Callie. I love you so much. I will spend everyday devoted to making you happy I promise you.” Chase vowed to her.

“You already do.” She said as he picked her up and spun her around.

“Where are yall?” Luke called from the back door.

“Here.” Callie answered in a watery voice.

“Are you okay?” Luke said tripping over his own feet at the sound of her voice.

“We are perfect.” Chase said as he took the ring out of the box and put it on her finger.

“Holy shit! I’m so happy for you guys.” Luke said giving them a hug.

“Why is everyone out here, and why are you cussing at my sister?” Chasity said coming out of the house to them. “Wow, nice car.” She said easing around it.

“I wasn’t cussing her. We are celebrating.” Luke looked like he was going to come out of his skin.

“The car?” Chasity asked cocking her head to the side. Chase stepped Callie closer to her and held out her left hand. “Holy shit!”

“See, I told you.” Luke said bouncing around the yard. Chasity squealed and pulled her close, but Chase didn’t let go.

“Let’s celebrate. We can go to Susie’s and tell the whole town!” Luke was running around the car hollering and hugging Chasity, this was going to be a loud evening.

“So, are we getting married or they?” Callie asked Chase laughing as the back doors shut on the SUV.

“Oh we will definitely be getting married.” Chase said kissing her. “Does it bother you that they are so excited and will probably tell the whole town as we pull in?” Chase asked her frowning.

“No, I’m glad they are so happy for us. I have a feeling there will be no peace at this house tonight. Hopefully this will be the beginning of many loud nights here.” Callie told him. She loved being surrounded by family and at least for now, she was feeling great.

“As long as they will let us sleep and be quiet when you need to rest, I don’t care what they do. How about you drive your new car to town and we go get dinner.” Chase said going around to open her door.

All the way to town Luke and Chasity argued and fussed about who was going to be more important to the wedding and the baby. Callie really liked the SUV, it drove great. Chase gave her the run down of all the features and she smiled happily. As they got to town she debated locking them in the back seat so she could have a few minutes of peace. Before she finished the thought they were out and practically running for the door.

“Stop now!” Chase yelled and they froze like little kids. “Now we need to discuss the rules. NO running, no yelling, no… never mind ya’ll aren’t even listening.” Chase said as they spun and dashed away. “I swear they are worse then teenagers.” He said looking back at her as she stepped out of the SUV.

“We better get in there before they get thrown out.” Callie said leaning into him. Chase swept her up into a kiss and held on tight as she melted into him. Callie pulled back to look at him and then turned as he wrapped an arm around her waist and they went inside.

“If you two can shut them up for a few minutes, I will give you free dinner. They haven’t shut up since they walked in.” Susie said exasperated. “Oh and congratulations.”

“Thanks, we’ll work on it.” Chase said moving to seat Callie, so he could round up the others. “I’ll be right back love.” He said walking away.

“I’m so happy for you.” Kara said. “You to seem very happy, maybe we will all be so happy someday.” She said wistfully.

“I’m sure you will. You are amazing Kara.” Callie told her smiling.

“Can I see the ring? Luke and Chasity came in yelling it, trying to be the first to tell the news.” Kara said reaching for her hand. “Wow, that’s very nice.”

“I’m sure he wanted to get something bigger, but it’s just not me.” Callie said smiling at her ring. “You should see the SUV. It’s amazing.”

“Wow. You are so lucky. I would love to just have someone look at me like he looks at you.” Kara said. “I think Chasity and Luke have called every everyone they know and this place is going to get wild soon.”

“Well at least everyone will be told and I won’t have to answer a lot of questions. If you weren’t here talking, everyone would be ignoring me.” Callie said smiling.

“Baby, I can’t corral them. Want to skip town and go home?” Chase whispered in her ear.

“We may as well let them have their fun. Then maybe we can hide tomorrow.” Callie said leaning into him.

“Alright love birds, let me get your order before the rest of the town shows up.” Kara said and took their order before walking away.

The restaurant was full soon turning into an impromptu engagement party. Everyone wanted to celebrate and Callie was having fun. Chase stayed glued to her and Luke and Chasity looked like they
were excited little kids. After dinner Callie leaned into Chase, she was beginning to feel a little nauseous. Looking down at her, he frowned.

“What is it? Do we need to go?” Chase said whispering into her ear.

“I’m not feeling well. Maybe it’s time we head out.” Callie said as Chase got up to help her out of her seat.

“Thanks for joining us tonight, but we are heading out. We are very happy ya’ll could come and celebrate with us, and we will let you know when we set a date.” Chase said as he ushered her out. Luke and Chasity followed still smiling. “Want me to drive us home?” He asked her.

“Yes please, but we may have to pull over.” Callie told him. Hearing her, Chasity and Luke surrounded her, but Chase pushed them back.

“Give her some space.” He told them.

When they arrived home Chase helped her out then took her into the house. Luke and Chasity kissed her good bye then left her in peace. Callie barely made it to the guest room before she lost her dinner. Chase as always was by her side. After getting sick he put her in a warm bath and put her to bed.

  Chapter 19

Callie was now seven and a half months pregnant and not very nice sometimes. She couldn’t even go riding anymore and that really irritated her. Once she started showing it was too difficult for her to get on, so she went down everyday to brush Blane after Chase rode him while she was at work. The pregnancy had gone well, but she was just very tired and cranky today.

“How are my beautiful girls doing today?” Chase asked as he came into the kitchen.

“She is playing kickball with the closest organ she can reach. I am not in the mood.” Callie said pushing away from him.

“Were the kids at school rough today?” Chase asked her.

“No. I’m going to go get in the tub. I’m sorry I’m not very pleasant right now.” Callie said as Chase helped her to stand.
