She hadn’t heard anything from her father since the day they left the pack lands, not that she had expected him to contact her anymore after she refused to be a part of his pack. A pack who was nothing short of evil doings.
Her mom and brother had come to visit a few times in the last few months, too. Alley never spoke of knowing he was her half-brother. She didn’t think it was her place to tell him Alford wasn’t his real father. The truth would come out eventually.
Maxwell’s family flew in to visit when the Max Jr. was born and Alley—Alex—had fallen in love with them. They of course would never know of her past or how they really met. They told them they meet through mutual friends and they never so much as questioned it. Maxwell didn’t like lying to his folks, but he knew it was best for the safety of his family. Had it really been a lie, though? They did meet because of a friend. Maybe not for the reason his family thought, but through a friend, nonetheless.
