Chapter 42

“He’s insane.” Curios says as the message ends. “There’s no way that this plan of his will work.”

“It’ll never get that far.” Frowns Kol.

“What do you mean?” Questions Hallthor.

“If I were Vasos I would make sure that none of you would endanger yourselves, I don’t know what he’s planning but I can guarantee he won’t let the others help him.” Answers Kol.

“You demigods are so stubborn.” Floggen mumbles.

“We need to get there to help him.” Kol decides.

“What about the quest?” Hallthor asks thoughtfully.

“What about it? There’s no time line is there?” He snaps.

Suddenly their ship lurches forward rising out of the water and sailing towards the stars, holding on for dear life the four of them watch as a multi colored bridge forms under the ship transporting them to Asgard.

Slowly the ship lowers into the perfectly clear water surrounding Asgard, with a flash of light Heimdall appears on the deck of the ship.

“I have watched you for a long time Kol and I have heard your plans, you cannot be allowed to go to Vasos’ aid unless you finish yours first. These quests are meant to test you both, I understand you want to help Vasos but both of you must complete the quests you are on before you meet that is the will of the gods. Your loyalty and friendship to one another has moved me though, no other test of your character is needed. You may enter Asgard.”

“Thank you Lord Heimdall for allowing us to pass.” Kol bows.

“Do not thank me yet young one, Loki knows that you are here and why you have come.”

“Then where are my manners? I shouldn’t keep my father waiting.” Kol smiles evilly.

“Fair thee well Kol.” Heimdall states before looking at Floggen for a long time. “Be warned that I will be watching all of you and if your actions threaten to hurt any of the gods even Loki I will stop you.”

  “Understood.” Everyone agrees in unison.

With a final nod Heimdall disappears resuming his post overseeing the rest of the gods and leaving the others to their quest.

“Loki will have some surprises waiting for us.” Curios says.

“I’m sure my father will, when we reach his palace don’t believe anything that you see or feel and when it comes down to the final deed do not interfere I must face him alone.” Kol says stepping off the boat onto the bridge.

“Well let’s get going.” Floggen says jumping all the way from the ship deck to the bridge in one leap surprising everyone.

“Thought you didn’t want to get involved with any of the gods?” Questions Curios rising on some water up to the bridge.

“Yeah short stuff what happened did you finally put on your big boy pants?” Snickers Hallthor.

“It took a while to find them after I left them at your moms.” Floggen snaps as Hallthor flies next to him.

“Well you’re never short on humor at least.” Hallthor laughs.

“Come on girls we’ve got some hair to find.” Kol giggles flying into the air with Curios in the magic bubble.

They get lost in the beauty of Asgard as they pass through the city, the towers are silver and pearl with wonderful windows reflecting their images back at them. The water is flowing up the side of several buildings in the center of the city and then coming down in a constant rain on a beautiful garden with streams weaving their way through the city. The clouds hang low at the top of the tower ranging in colors from pink to orange. Then finally at the edge of the city they see Loki’s citadel, unlike the rest of Asgard Loki’s palace is black with massive twin towers and windows made of ice. The giant gates are grey metal with skulls carved into the door themselves.

As they land the gates open for them without anyone being around.

“Well that’s ominous.” Curios giggles nervously.

“Welcome home Kol.” Comes Loki’s voice. “It’s a shame that you have come here as my enemy.”

“We are not your enemies’ father, I came because I have been ordered by the gods.”

“Still playing as their little errand boy are we?” He laughs humorously.

Quickly Kol turns from Loki throwing several magical daggers which Loki blocks just in time. “Did you really think your ruse would fool me father?” He questions as the fake image of Loki on the ground fades.

Loki floats watching him with new found respect for a second before answering. “Clearly I underestimated you Kol, but have I misjudged your friends?”

All of a sudden everyone except Floggen disappears from sight.

“What have you done with my friend’s father?” Kol growls.

“Friends? Please, these friends of yours, didn’t they attack and try to kill you?”

  “They were under Od’s control.”

“So yes they did, sounds like true friends to me.” Laughs Loki.

Floggen surprises everyone by jumping at Loki and nearly grabbing him out of the air but just in time Loki vanishes reappearing on the ground near Kol.

“You are pushing your boundaries you ugly little creep.” Loki grumbles.

“Come down and say that to my face!” Yells Floggen defiantly.

Before Loki can answer, Kol whips around hitting him with his staff so hard Loki flies thirty feet into the wall of his castle.

“Now father you will give me back my friends.” Kol demands.

“You want them so badly son? Find them yourself.” Loki grins evilly waving his hand.

The world goes tipsy and Kol finds himself in a maze with a ceiling so he can’t fly, Loki’s voice echoes through the labyrinth. “Welcome to my prison son, if you want your friends to live I’d find them quickly there are pretty nasty creatures down there.”

  “You’ll pay for this father!”

“Kol the punisher, that’s your moniker, is it not? Are you going to punish me son?” Laughs Loki.

“You’ll find out soon enough Lord Loki.” Kol yells running down the corridors taking twists and turns as quickly as he can while yelling his friend’s names.

Hallthor had tried to escape the maze but no matter how hard he tried nothing worked, even his magical hammers couldn’t make a dent in the thick stone walls. Finally he gave up and figured that he better try and solve the maze, he had to get back to his friends. As he walked the endless corridors he was sure that vaguely he heard Kol calling his name.

  “Kol?!” He yelled.

“Hallthor! We need to get out of here! Where’s Curios?” He yelled following the voice.

The two of them hollered and yelled until running full force then hit each other head on knocking each other over and laughing hysterically until a giant axe made of ice came swinging down at them. At the last second the axe turns into water splashing them both in the face, as they watch the tips of the trident exit his chest dissolving the frost creature into water.

“Hey guys did you miss me?” Smiles Curios.

“You know we did.” Kol says happily getting to his feet and pulling Hallthor to his.

Startling them Loki’s voice fills the chamber. “Don’t worry I won’t.” He says as a sword slices through Curios body nearly cleaving it in half.

“NOOOO!” Kol yells running to Curios, but it’s too late Loki is gone leaving him holding the dead body of the man he came to know as a brother.

“LOKI!!!!! I’M GOING TO FIND YOU AND TEAR YOU A
