“I know, I know, but it still would have been fun to tell her she was fired and then throw her out on her ass.”

“You’ve turned into a very vicious woman. I like it.” He got up and came around the desk. His arms pulled me against him. “Can we pretend there is a far more important issue to take care of?” he asked in his sexy voice.

“No, we can’t, unless you want to talk about the houses the realtor sent for us to check out.”

He groaned and rested his forehead against mine. “I hate house hunting. It’s taking forever.”

“I know, but we want to find the perfect forever home.”

He kept his arms around me and started to walk me backward. I didn’t know what he was doing until I heard the door shut. “Baby, what are you doing?” I murmured against his lips.

“I’m getting a little quickie in the office. I’m the boss. I get to do these things with my fiancée.”

“We have to get down to the racquetball court.”

“After I’m done with this. There is no problem more important than me making love to you right now.”

“It really is important,” I said and pushed away from him. “We have to get over there right now.”

“Why do we hire contractors if I’m the one that always has to put out the fires? Don’t they have a foreman or something like that?”

“Yes, but there are issues that require your attention.”

He made a raspberry face. “I don’t think I like being the boss. Won’t you just be my sugar mama?”

I slapped his ass. “Get a move on.”

We walked toward the courts that were in the process of being finished up in our latest expansion. They were his idea, and they were going to be wildly popular once they were officially open. I grabbed his hand. My heart was beating in my chest.

“What’s going on? I thought you said there was a problem I needed to talk to the contractor about.”

“Let’s go inside,” I said and pushed open the door to the dark room.

At that moment, the lights came on, damn near blinding us. “What the fuck?” he said and pulled me against him to protect me.

That was my man. He was always looking out for me. He looked around dazed and confused as he took in the hundreds of balloons and streamers that had been hung around court one. I waited for him to get his bearings and read the balloons and the huge sign I had made and hung on the wall.

“Congratulations,” he read on one of the balloons. “Does this mean the courts are done and ready to open?”

  “Read the sign,” I said.

“Congratulations to the new parents,” he read aloud. “Is this someone’s baby shower?”

I rolled my eyes. “You are not a meathead.”

“No, but—” Then he got it. “Wait, we’re the new parents?” he asked with wide eyes.

I smiled, nodding. “Almost parents. We’re expecting parents.”

  “You’re pregnant!”

I burst into laughter. “You are silly. Yes, I’m pregnant!”

“Oh my god. No way. For real? This is really happening?”

  “It is.”

He grabbed me and pulled me in for a bear hug before spinning me around. “I love you.”

“Congratulations!” our friends and family called out in unison.

The poor man jumped ten feet. “Holy shit! You almost gave me a heart attack.”

Sue was the first to congratulate us. “You guys are going to make the best parents. Hopefully, Jeff gets his wits back before the baby comes.”

  He grinned. “I’m stupefied.”

Bunny and ERock came up next. “Congrats, man. I’ll send you my bill later.”

“For what?” Jeff scoffed. “You nearly derailed this whole thing.”

“It was all part of my master plan.”

Bunny hugged me. “Congrats, little mama. I can’t wait to watch your belly get big and round.”

“I think that’s the exact opposite thing a trainer is supposed to say,” I said with a laugh.

“We’re going to keep you in good shape throughout.”

My mom and dad came forward next. My dad gave Jeff a big hug. “You knocked her up. I will expect that wedding to happen sooner rather than later.”

  “Dad!”

He gave me a hug next. “Congratulations, sweetie. I’m very happy for you.”

He handed me an envelope with mine and Jeff’s names on it. “What’s this?” I asked.

He winked and walked away. I opened it up and read the paperwork. “What is it?” Jeff asked.

“You deserve it,” my mother said. “We’ll see you at dinner tonight.”

“Dinner tonight?” Jeff asked. The poor guy was in a state of confusion and shock.

“This is the deed to the gym. It is officially all ours.”

“No. It should be in your name.”

“We’re going to be married. We’re having a baby. It’s ours. This is part of our new life.”

“Are we having dinner with them tonight?” he asked.

  “And us,” Jeff’s mother said.

He spun around. “Mom! Dad! What are you doing here?”

“Alora called and told us the good news. She booked us a flight—first class I might add. We’ll be in town for the week.”

Jeff looked at me with his eyes glistening as he hugged his mom, then his dad. “I can’t believe you guys are actually here.”

“We wouldn’t miss this,” his father said. “We’ll see you tonight.”

They drifted away, leaving Jeff and me alone for a second. “I can’t believe you did all this.”

  “I had help.”

“My parents?” he whispered. “It’s been almost a year since I’ve seen them.”

“I know. We have a lot to talk about.”

He blew out his cheeks. “Yes, we do. I guess I understand why you are pushing for a house.”

“Yes, I’d like to get started on the nursery.”

He put his hand over my belly. “A baby. This is not any scenario I played out.”

  “What?”

He smiled and shook his head. “Nothing. I’m thrilled. I’m over the moon. I have no words.”

  “Me too, baby, me too.”

  “We have to get married.”

  “We will.”

“No, like now. I seriously expect to turn around and see your dad with a shotgun.”

We both laughed before sharing a sweet kiss.

  “I love you,” I said.

“I love you, too. Always and forever.”

  The End.
