‘TV show.’ She said. ‘But I think it was a movie too.’
‘Okay,’ I said. ‘And how many movies have we seen together?’
‘Uff,’ she said, ‘I think it was Swedish or something. They had funny voices, remember?’
‘Klovn?’ I said.
‘I think that’s it.’ She said.
‘That’s Danish.’ I said. ‘Look it up and let me know.’
I heard her tapping away on her keyboard.
‘Klovn with a ‘k’ and a ‘v’.’ I said.
‘That’s it!’ She said.
‘Okay,’ I said, ‘enjoy watching it with him.’
‘Oh, Will,’ she said.
‘Bye, Claudia.’
Then I called Alice. Best for last, I thought. Or worst, I still wasn’t sure where we stood with each other.
‘Bonjour, mon cherie,’ she said, ‘Ça va? Tu te sens mieux?’
‘Better now.’ I said.
‘Tant mieux,’ she said, ‘Il est toujours bon si je viens ce soir?’
‘I think so.’ I said.
‘Did you just wake up?’ She said.
‘I guess so.’ I said.
She laughed.
‘Okay,’ she said, ‘A tout a l’heure. Je t’appelle quand j’arrive, d’accord?’
‘Okay.’ I said. ‘Bisous.’
‘Bisous, mon cheri.’
Well, back to the real world. I needed to clean the place up a little. Clean myself up even more. I still needed to do a favor for Swanlove. And I should knock out the lesson plans for the week before Alice arrived.
Just as soon as I can roll out of bed.
