“I don’t wanna hear it, Judy.” Cayden called out as he walked into his new home, depositing his keys and the blueprints on the sideboard. “These sensitive ears of mine can’t take one more of your wild stories.”
Rose beamed up at him as he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in for a kiss.
“Oh, Cayden darlin’, as if I could say anything to make someone blush.” Judy replied.
“Mmm hmm, I’m not sure Thomas here would agree.” Cayden sent the young man who acted as the elder’s carer a conspiratorial glance.
“My day is never dull Mr. Greystone and that’s all I’ll say on the matter.”
“You see! I’m just trying to keep the boy entertained is all.” Judy laughed merrily, holding up her hands in mock innocence.
“How’s the town house coming on?” Rose asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“Good, got some more plans to go over this evening,”
Rose rolled her eyes at that. Admittedly he did tend to bring his work home most evenings. Being Alpha wasn’t a nine to five job, but he found he liked being busy, he liked working towards something that would benefit others.
“But I promise all it’ll be is deciding on floor samples, which I know you and Carly already have some ideas about, while Clint and I figure out the proportions for the luxury self-catering cabins going up in the hills. We won’t be talking shop all night.”
“Don’t he ever stop?” Judy nudged Rose, “You’ll burn yourself out if you carry on like this.” She wagged a finger in Cayden’s face, which he snapped at playfully, making the old lady jump and tsk at him.
“I’ll stop in about six months’ time.”
Cayden dropped down to his knees and nuzzled into his mate’s only slightly rounded stomach.
“I want to have things in a good place for when I take some time off to take care of these two.”
Rose beamed down at him, her eyes shining with pure joy. He may not have had the best role model, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to let his past interfere with his determination to be the best father he could be to his pup.
“Gran’s got a point Cayden; I don’t want you tiring yourself out.” She sent him a suggestive wink and his wolf growled.
His mate had been voracious in the bedroom lately. She blamed the hormones. Cayden didn’t care what it was, just as long as he was able to make her scream every night, he was one happy wolf.
“Poor Thomas! Look what you two have gone and done. Why, the boy is about to combust.” Judy called out, throwing her hands in the air. “Come on now dear, I think it’s about time we left these two deviants and headed back.”
The carer chuckled and held out his arm ready to assist her.
“Bye Gran, you want to come for lunch next week?” Rose embraced her grandmother with a happy squeeze.
“You bet, I gotta show you how to make berry cobbler, just the way your grandfather liked it.” Judy kissed her on the nose and cupped Cayden by the cheek. “You take care of my girl now, Cayden you hear?”
“Yes Ma’am, you can count on it.”
He stood with his arms around his mate on the porch as they waved goodbye to Judy. She had insisted on gifting him and Rose the house in the woods so they could raise a new generation there in the family home. She seemed more than happy in her new retirement apartment in the centre of town, especially considering she got to tease the hired help.
“I finally got a reply from Lucian today.” Rose said absently and she rested her head back against his chest. “Looks like he’s bringing a date to the mating ceremony.”
“You’re kidding.”
“Nope. I can’t wait to meet whoever she is. Did you know he was dating someone?”
“Not a clue, all I know is that he does ‘so love a mating ceremony’.” Cayden responded, putting on his best British accent, making his mate laugh even if he did get swatted for it.
“So that’s all the guests confirmed.” He chuckled, wrapping his arms around her tightly, rubbing his hands gently over her stomach.
“Yup, you still feeling OK about having the Greystone Alpha and Luna join us?” Rose asked, looking cautiously over her shoulder at him.
“Absolutely. It’s time some wounds were healed.”
She turned in his arms and leaned up on tip toes to kiss him sweetly.
“I love you Cayden Greystone.”
“And I love you my Rose, but I’ve got a question for you.”
She looked up at him with her beguiling green eyes that shone with love as she saw him for all that he was.
“How much time have we got before Clint and Carly arrive for dinner?”
Her expression turned into one of mischievous intent.
“Oh at least an hour or so.” Rose grinned at him.
He swept her up into his arms eliciting a squeal of delight from his mate. With his Rose safely tucked against his chest, Cayden marched with her back into their home.
“I’m sure I can work with that.”

About The Author
Elizabeth Greene
Elizabeth Greene is an avid reader and writer of paranormal romance. She loves action and adventure, feisty heroines and hot as hell heroes that leave you tingling in all the right places.
She enjoys writing the stories that come to her when her mind wanders, which is often. All her stories are unapologetically fantastical and more often than not, feature mythical creatures: shifters, vampires, demons, witches, warlocks and whatever else takes her fancy.
The Darkhills Romance Series is a collection of standalone, paranormal romance fiction that are cliff hanger free.
While the series can be read in any order, readers are encouraged to start at the beginning as there are a few characters that feature throughout the series. (What can she say? - Some characters get under her skin and are simply too interesting to restrict to just the one story.)
All her stories come with a happily ever after guarantee.
