His body went rigid, as if her words meant nothing to him. Then his expression cracked and tears filled his eyes. He crossed the room in two steps and took her hand in his, his gaze questioning.
‘You really mean that, Katrina?’
She nodded, smiling. ‘With all my heart.’

Jack looked into the eyes of the woman he loved. Her hair fell in dark curls, her skin shone. She was beautiful, no question. But her real beauty lay inside. Not only in her capacity for love, but also in her willingness to forgive, to let go of all the hurt and pain of the past.
He wasn’t sure he could ever live up to the promise his heart wanted to make, to be worthy of her love, but he was determined to spend the rest of his life trying.
