  The next morning, Isaac and Drake lay in bed. This was something else new to them. But for now? Work didn’t matter. There was plenty of time for that later. Right now, they only had time for each other.

  “What if we got married?” Drake asked.

  It was a question Isaac had never thought he would hear. His life had been consumed with work, with no time for thoughts like that, especially considering Isaac and Drake’s were mates. Shifters didn’t normally perform a human declaration of love. It was something that they felt, yes, but it was rarely formalized.

  Before Isaac could say anything, Drake continued to talk. “You have human family and you are human. I could only assume that’s what you would expect from me.”

  Isaac looked for something in Drake’s eyes, but they were as cryptic as always. “Why do you want to get married?”

  “Because you are mine and I am yours, forever.”

  Isaac didn’t say anything once again. This was another foreign territory and Isaac wasn’t sure how he should react. Even though he had never expected to be married, this did mean a lot to him.

  “Of course I will marry you, Drake.”

  The men didn’t get out of bed that day. Nothing was more important than for them to be together. They spent hours relearning material they had already mastered. Their bodies tangled around the sheets in a haze.

  When Isaac had met Drake, he had never expected a love story. Drake had been too dangerous. It was almost as if opposites did attract. But somehow, they managed to become not only mates, but friends and lovers. Soon, they would become husbands in a human marriage ceremony.

  There was no longer a doubt in Isaac’s mind, they were meant to be together.
