Just a Bite

And he was what I deserved. If I was what he wanted. I deserved to be his.

"I deserve every bit of you. Just like you deserve every bit of me. I'm yours." He ran a hand through my hair. "And you're mine."

I winced, shaking his head off of my head.

"Did I say something wrong?" he asked, leaning down to look me over.

"Am I supposed to be hurting right now?" I asked, squinting harder as I placed a hand to my stomach. "Holy fuck, it hurts. It hurts!"

It was all that I could do to not start shouting. It felt like my stomach was being ripped open from the inside. "Fuck! It hurts, do something!" I shouted again, rocking back and forth, trying to catch my breath, but it was quickly becoming unbearable. Like the worst cramp I'd ever experienced in my life.

"Doctor! Get in here!" Liam shouted, sliding across the floor and toward the door with a slight stumble. "Something's happening!"

I tried to pace out my breaths, but it was impossible. I must have looked crazy once I started to scream at the top of my lungs. Was something wrong with the blood transfusion?! Was I taking the wrong blood in? Was I dying?! Because it felt like it!

"Move, move! Eric, give him the baby and get over here." Geoffrey started commanding his nurse, who was quick to pass their child over to Liam as they took a place at my side. I screamed again and could feel the sweat begin to drip down my forehead and temples.

"Shit, he's going in to labor." Geoffrey leaned the exam table back to the point that I was now no longer able to sit up, only lie flat on my back.

"He's what?!" Liam shouted, causing the baby in his arms to start screaming.

"I'll get towels and the anesthetic, grab my tools."

"We're doing this here? This isn't sanitary," Eric's voice was trembling, but he didn't wait to hear Geoffrey's further commands and instead ran straight out of the room.

"Sorry, but we're going to have to do this right now. One to ten, how bad is the pain?"

"Ten! It's a fucking ten!" I screamed, tossing my head left and right. I didn't care how bad this was going to hurt, to be cut open, but I just needed these kids out of me!

"Why is he in so much pain? What's wrong with him?" Liam asked nervously.

"There's nowhere in his body for the babies to start moving to. He's not a female. He has to have them cut out, or they will erupt into his organs and kill him. I might not have time to wait for the anesthetic to take hold. Why is this happening?" Geoffrey asked himself, examining every inch of my body.

"Is it the blood transfusion?" Eric asked as he entered into the room again, arms full of linen and cloth.

"Smart, it could be. But we have to leave it. I don't need him passing out on the table while we do this, so keep it in."

"Oh my God, just take them out already!" I shouted, tears spilling down the sides of my face. I didn't want to, but I kept kicking my feet, just trying to find some outlet to force the pain out, but it was only getting worse.

"Gloves. Mask. Scalpel," Eric said, handing Geoffrey the tools he was going to need.

"Get the clamps. We'll need to keep the skin peeled back when we go in from this side." He grunted.

"Yes, sir. You're going to feel a pinch." Even with the warning from the nurse, I was not ready for the strange slightly burning sensation of the needle going deep into my side. And even so, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the fucking pain of being in labor.

"You might want to leave the room, Liam. Get me the damn clamps!" Geoffrey shouted at his mate, who followed the orders and ran out of the room again.

"I-I have to stay. I'm going to stay right here."

"This isn't going to be a pretty sight. But I'll do what I have to," the doctor warned us, raising the scalpel high and taking it straight to my stomach, beginning to slice in. Now that was worse than the shot and the pain in my stomach combined.

  Chapter 11

  Oliver

"Shit, I can't believe they're here," I said, bouncing my babies in my arms. Liam Jr. was rather quiet, snuggling straight into my side while Ethan continued to cry no matter how much I rocked him. That was one of the most difficult things I'd ever been through in my life. Never, ever, did I think that having a baby was going to be like this. I knew it would hurt, but Jesus.

"Neither can I. You guys are amazing," Liam said, taking Ethan from my arms so that he could begin to rock him. The twins were so tiny, so unbelievably small. I couldn't fathom how they felt five times as big when they were inside of me threatening to burst out of my stomach.

"Thanks. Well. Maybe we should leave them to it?" Eric asked, but Geoffrey shook his head.

"In due time. I want to make sure that I got these sutures just right to leave as small of a scar as possible. I was kind of rushed."

"Sorry about that," I sighed, covered in sweat, holding Liam Jr. against my chest as he rested peacefully. "Welcome to the world, little guy."

"I told you I could do it. You were so worried before," Geoffrey laughed, his gloved fingers touching the area around the wound he'd cut into my stomach delicately. I hissed at a few of the spots he pressed on, but otherwise couldn't feel too much from the fast injections of local anesthetic they had put into me.

"I really was. You guys are the best."

"Don't thank me. Thank your mate here. He did get that blood for you."

Liam stared down at Ethan in his arms, a faint smile on his lips, "And we should thank James, too."

"For bringing them into the world? I guess so..." I frowned, but couldn't stay mad at the fact he brought his name up. Not at this moment.

"He was in the hospital too, when I went to go get the blood."

"He what?!" I exclaimed, regretting the decision to attempt to move. Not only was it painful, but now Liam Jr. was starting to cry. I shushed him, rubbing his back and patting my little boy softly to calm him. "Sorry."

"There were security officers there that tried to get me down. And he stopped them. He helped me get out."

"What was he doing there in the first place?" I whispered this time, not wanting to rile up Liam Jr. even more.

"He's in detox for his alcoholism, I think."

I couldn't believe that. He was actually trying to get better?

"That doesn't sound likes James at all."

"But it was. He told me to take care of you, before, you know. I think he genuinely feels bad about how things went down between you two." This was all too much. Fainting, giving birth, now to hear that James actually did something good with himself?

"I don't know what to say. Thanks, James, I suppose."

Liam nodded, "I hope he does get better. But that doesn't mean I'm going to tolerate him coming around, you know."

I snickered, happy that he was making the situation less heavy with laughter. "Even if he has changed, he still hurt me. A lot. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. You love me, and I love you. That's it. Nothing else."

"I'm glad to hear it," he said, the slight nervous look on his face disappearing in an instant. "But there is something else. I'm going to have to get another job to take care of all this," he laughed. But it was the truth. We had four people to take care of in this family, now.

"I can go back to work, soon. Right doctor?" I asked, watching as Geoffrey was fumbling around with the drip that was connected to my arm still.

"No. It's going to have to be a few months before I want you back on your feet or doing anything vigorous beyond light walking and resting."

  "Nevermind then."

"However. As you noticed, it's only my mate and I running this place. We could always use a new office administrator to help with the tasks around here." He turned to Liam as he spoke.

"Oh, r-really?" Liam asked, as surprised as I was. "Of course! I'd be happy to!"

Geoffrey winked at him, "Our kind has to stick together, and all that. Now, go ahead and enjoy your time with your loved ones. The sun is up, so we're all stuck here for a while. I'll get out of your hair."

  Finally, we were alone now
as Geoffrey left the room with a friendly wave. I looked up to Liam, who was still staring lovingly down at the two kids in his arms. I could never say how grateful I was for him, for accepting my children as his own. He was amazing.

  And he was mine.

"I can't believe we're parents," he said happily, Ethan finally calm in his arms.

"Me neither. After all the shit we went through, all the hardships, we finally got through it all. In the end."

"It's like it was meant to be. We passed the test, and this is our reward. Which was more than I could have dreamed of. Besides just having you in my life, of course." Liam blew a kiss to me cheekily, making me blush.

"You're so cheesy, you know that, right?" I stuck my tongue up at him and tried to wiggle to the side to give him a little room on the exam table to sit down next to me.

"I know. But you love it."

"No, but I do love our Ethan and Liam Jr. And I love you."

"And I love you. Since I first laid eyes on you. And now that I have you, I'm never letting go."

"Good," I turned up to him again, "Now shut up and kiss me."

"Oh, getting aggressive already?" He waggled his eyebrows playfully before leaning down to place a soft peck onto my lips, but not stopping there. He was careful with our babies in the way, but was able to give me a full on kiss, sucking on my lower lip and giving it a soft pull with his teeth as he leaned back. I could feel the love and the truth behind it and his words.

Everything would be fine. As long as we all had one another.
