He put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. “Let’s just agree to disagree, and start over.”

  She smiled. “I’d like that.”

“Good.” He kissed her quickly, and stood before he could take what he wanted. After last night, who knew when she’d let him touch her again? “Let’s head back, shall we?”

He moved toward the anchor, heard her shuffling behind him and figured she was settling in for the ride. Until she spoke, her voice a soft, velvet rasp in the darkness.

  “Drake.”

He glanced back, and his breath caught.

  Chapter Six

She was lying on the long bench seat, her tan skin dark against the white and blue vinyl. She wore nothing but a black bra and panties. Her gorgeous dark hair was fanned perfectly behind her, and she had one arm up over her head.

Seduction in corporeal form, he thought. But he let nothing show on his face. “You plan this?”

She shrugged. “Planned, no. Hoped? Absolutely.” Then she lifted a hand to him.

He grinned and took her fingers, pulling until she stood. “We’d never both fit on that lying down.”

“Oh, I don’t know,” she murmured, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I do yoga regularly. I’m pretty flexible.”

He groaned like a tortured man. “We’ll save that for another time. For now-” He took her hand and backed himself into one of the chairs behind him, then maneuvered her until she straddled his lap. “-This should suffice.”

She grinned and settled more firmly over him, the contact driving them crazy. Her mouth went to his, and their tongues met like juggernauts, battling without giving ground.

“God, I missed you,” Drake said, pressing kisses to her face and neck.

She laughed breathily. “It’s barely been twenty-four hours. And I saw you all day. Oh, that feels good.”

He’d lifted a hand to her breast and was massaging the soft mound. “Mm-hm… True, twenty-four hours, and I saw you all day. But look at it from my point of view: I’ve wanted you for two years, and when I finally get you, I can’t have you again. It was like prison: I could see you, but I couldn’t touch you.”

She chuckled, burying her fingers in his hair when his lips cruised to her chest. She leaned back and moaned loudly when his mouth found her nipple through lace. “You can have me now, all you want.”

  His head came up. “Really?”

  “Of course.”

  “Are you sure about that?”

“Unless you’re some kind of addict who’ll try to kill me with sex, yeah,” she said on a laugh.

  He grinned. “Worth a shot.”

She giggled, and then groaned when he cupped her lace-covered mound. “Oh, yes. Touch me, Drake.”

“I have to,” he said as his mouth returned to her breast. His long fingers snuck around the edge of her panties to touch her moist heat.

Evie gasped and ground against him. “More,” she demanded.

“More,” he agreed, and dipped down and inside of her.

She cried out, pressing down to push him deeper. Familiar with the moves and sounds of a woman in passion, he rubbed his thumb over her clitoris, and grinned when she gasped again and began quaking.

Needing to do something more, to completely barrage her with sensation, he brought his free hand up and pulled her bra down, then filled his palm with her so his mouth was free to taste her throat.

She moaned and shivered, moving all over like she didn’t know which part to focus on. Then suddenly, she went over, sliding her mouth to his to drown out her cries.

She whimpered against his lips for the longest time, and he didn’t try to move her. He felt like her savior, helping her hide, and he knew then he’d save her forever, from anything, no matter what happened between them when they left here.

Finally she pulled back, gasping for air, and dropped her head to his shoulder. He gave her the moment she obviously needed, gripping her to his chest with his hands spread wide on her mostly bare back. He pressed gentle kisses to her hair and shoulder, unable to keep from showing her how he felt for her. In all honesty, he nearly told her, but knew she’d never believe him, and he wanted to make sure it was true.

She moved gradually, sliding her face along his shoulder until it was against his neck, then down so her forehead was there. Eventually, she lifted her head so she could look at him. “Wow.”

His smile was more affectionate than arrogant. They stared at each other for a long moment, and Evie wasn’t sure what she saw in his eyes, or in her own heart.

When she’d climaxed, she’d sought his lips to keep from having the entire lake hear her pleasured cries. What she’d found was a haven. She’d felt so safe, so protected, she’d nearly burst into tears. Then those soft kisses to her head, her shoulder, while she’d composed herself… Like he treasured her. Oh, if only, she thought. She closed her eyes and touched her cheek to his. Please don’t let me fall in love, she asked any god that would listen. She knew she’d never come back from this one if she did.

“Are you alright?” he asked softly, stroking her hair.

She squeezed her eyes shut in an attempt to block the soft feelings creeping inside her. She nodded, felt the scratch of his five o’clock shadow on her cheek, and loved it.

She pulled back to look at him again, then gently laid her mouth over his. A kiss, two, then three, and she sighed when he opened hesitantly to stroke his tongue over hers.

Even now, wanting her, the evidence pressing solidly between her legs, he was gentle. That evoked all kinds of emotions she didn’t want to think about.

She moaned quietly, letting him know she was ready for more, and slid one hand over his chest, down his stomach, to his erection. He groaned and the pressure of his mouth to hers increased.

Yes, she thought. More. She stroked him through his khakis, and used both hands to undo them and gently work him through the opening.

He groaned again when they were skin to skin. She saw his hands grope blindly for something to hold on to before gripping the seat cushion on either side of his thighs.

She wanted to please him, she realized, more than she’d ever wanted to please a man before. Slowly, still using her hands on him, she stood and knelt before him.

His eyes opened slightly, and then went wide. “Dear god.”

She smiled, leaned forward between his legs, and licked the tip of his penis. His breath sucked in between his teeth, and as she did it again and again, she could see he wanted to close his eyes but was determined to watch.

After a minute, she took him into her mouth, slowly, an inch at a time, pulling back with each increment and going deeper the next time. He hissed in a breath every time she took him in, holding her gaze and making her feel bolder than she’d ever really been.

After several minutes of moving up and down on him, she took him as deep as she could, and swallowed repeatedly, massaging his head with her throat and twirling her tongue around his shaft.

He groaned brokenly, loudly, and the sound had her own need rocketing up so she nearly touched herself to relieve pressure. She smiled as she withdrew. She started back down again, turning her head this way and that to switch it up.

“Wait! Dear god, wait,” he gasped, putting a shaky hand on her arm.

She lifted her eyes to his, but didn’t pull away.

  “You have to stop now-”

She dropped back down, his cock hitting the back of her throat for a second before she moved back up slowly. His eyes fluttered closed for just a second.

  “Seriously, stop. I’m gonna-”

She did it again, this time holding for a few seconds and humming.

He went ramrod stiff in the chair, gripping the seat so hard his arm muscles stood out and she thought for sure he’d tear it.

When she pulled back to go at him again, he fisted a hand in her hair; not hurting, but restraining. “No more.”

She let him go with a pop, and he relaxed. With a grin, she darted h
er tongue out and tasted the ridge where the head and shaft connected.

With a shaky moan, he sucked in air, then stood and lifted her by her elbows to her feet. “That’s it,” he said as he dropped his shorts and briefs to the floor. “Now you’re gonna get it.” Off came the shirt.

A shiver of anticipation went through her as he retrieved a condom from his wallet and expertly rolled it on. Then he sat in the chair and gestured her forward with his fingers. “Let’s go, woman.”

She came toward him, and he hooked a finger in her panties to pull them down until they, too, hit the floor. He cupped her bare hips, pulling her closer so he could press soft kisses to her belly. She ran her fingers lovingly through his hair and straddled his legs once more.

He kissed her stomach once more, then her breast bone, each of her nipples, as he slowly guided her down. Using well-developed thigh muscles, she hovered over him when she felt him beneath her.

  “Ready?” she asked quietly.

“What do you think?” he asked, nodding toward his engorged flesh.

Teasing him, she swayed her hips back and forth, brushing repeatedly over his tip. His look darkened, making her laugh seductively. Suddenly, he took firm hold of her waist, spanning his fingers wide across her back, and rocked her hips forward as he came up.

The move was so perfectly executed that he slid deep inside her. They both made low sounds of pleasure, and Evie let herself lower with him, holding their pelvises tight together.

When he brought his mouth to hers, she started moving. Slowly, so slowly, she lifted her hips, and then just as slowly lowered them again. He let her go as she pleased, and she wanted this to last.

Time lost all meaning as she moved over him, rocking forward and back for a while, then around in slow, lazy circles, and back to the casual raising and lowering she’d started with. All the while, her hands massaged his chest and shoulders. His caressed her back, hips, and breasts. Their mouths met easily, gliding and brushing occasionally. She’d never made love like this- leisurely, like she had all the time in the world to climb to the peak of pleasure- and she wanted it forever.

She felt herself slowly building towards climax, and hoped he was with her. Opening heavy lids, she saw him staring at her shamelessly.

With a lazy smile, she kissed him softly, then pulled back to stare at him as he was at her. The depth of emotion in his eyes startled her, and her hips jerked when she jolted in surprise. Drake’s eyes closed and his breath caught.

Lifting a brow at his reaction, she did it again. Her hips jerked forward, his teeth clenched. Again. Her hips jerked forward, and his hands clamped onto them. Once more, and she felt her own body respond to the harder movements.

Her breath hitched when she slammed forward, and she realized she was hitting her ‘G’ spot with his hard member, something she’d never experienced before. It felt incredible…

She thrust into him again, and started panting heavily. Over and over, harder and harder, and he picked up the rhythm, holding her waist in his hands and pulling when she thrust.

“Oh, yes,” she gasped. “Yes, yes, yes.” Her words ended on a long, low moan as she came, and she wrapped her arms and legs around him to anchor herself as she trembled, certain she’d float away.

“Oh, Evie, I-” He groaned when suddenly her spasms flung him over the edge with her, and he forced her hips down as he flexed up.

Together they rode that highest crest, clinging to each other, shaking from the power of it.

When he was spent, Drake let his body go limp in the chair, and an exhausted Evie came with him.

“God!” she said, her speech muffled against his chest.

“Tell me about it,” he said breathlessly.

She moved her head just enough to look up at him. “Hey, what were you gonna say just before you finished?”

Lazy, he didn’t lift his head from the back of the chair to look at her. He tried to recall what she was talking about, but his brain was useless mush. “I… have no idea,” he said honestly, making her laugh.

They stayed out on the water for a long time, moving only to dress before Drake lounged on one of the benches and Evie sat on his lap to lie on his chest.

She showed him the constellations she knew, and when he called her a nerd, it was said with such affection that it was the first time in her life the term didn’t hurt. He surprised her by showing her one: Drago. Of course she’d known of its existence, but she couldn’t have pointed it out.

“How’d you get so smart?” she asked, then giggled when he poked her side.

“Do you know what Drake means?”

She thought about it for a second, and then smiled up at him. “Dragon. And so does Drago.”

  “Mm-hm.”

“I didn’t know you were into astronomy.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me yet. But in this case, my dad showed me.”

She remembered then that Drake and Leon’s father had passed from a heart attack a few years ago. “That’s a wonderful memory.”

“Yeah. He showed Leon where Leo was, too. Dad was big into the stars and planets, and named us for those constellations. He told Mom that if they ever had a girl, he was naming her Cassiopeia,” he said, making her laugh. “She did her best to thwart him, obviously, as us boys were all they had.”

He was quiet for a moment. “Anytime I see the stars, especially Drago, I think of Dad.”

“Oh, Drake, that’s beautiful.” She wrapped the arm that wasn’t between them around him and hugged.

He took a moment to wish his father could have met Evie. Being intellectual types, they’d have gotten along well. His mom already loved her, as much as she did Vicki.

On his chest, she yawned and snuggled closer. “I guess we should get back,” he said.

“Oh, okay,” she said, sounding disappointed.

He fought a chuckle, sure she wouldn’t appreciate it.

When she moved off of him, he stood and pulled up the anchor, then went to start the pontoon. He glanced at Evie, saw her sitting where he’d been laying, curled up. Despite the balmy night, she was obviously trying to stay warm.

“Come here,” he said, patting his lap.

She perked right up and came over, sitting on his thighs and tucking her feet beneath her. Cozy, he pushed the lever forward slowly and started off.

With her so soft against him, he was in no hurry to get back, and so took the long way home. They circled the lake slowly, keeping the noise level down though the party near Leon’s was raging.

Eventually, they came up on their own dock, and Drake patted her leg to let her know she needed to move. She sighed and stood as he swung wide to come straight at the dock. “If you want to steer, I’ll get off and dock us.”

  “Really?” she asked hopefully.

  “Sure.”

She sent him a pretty smile. “You’re so sweet.”

“Yeah, I’ve been convicted a few times. Come on.”

They switched spots, and he went to the side gate to direct her in verbally since it was dark. She followed his directions exactly.

“Okay, hold it there. Cut the speed. Good.” He stepped onto the dock, then turned and pulled the pontoon where he wanted it so he could hook the front inside chain. “Alright, kill the engine and bring the key.” He moved around the boat, latching it so it wouldn’t float away if winds got high.

He turned toward the house, saw her sitting on the bottom step, waiting for him. It gave him a warm feeling to see her there, hair a little mussed, a sleepy look in her eye. As he got closer, she stood.

“Will you hold my hand as we go up? I’m so tired.”

He cocked his head. “I’ll do you one better.” Then he scooped her up and began moving competently up the steps.

“Drake, put me down,” she giggled, kicking her feet.

“Don’t move so much, babe. You’re messing up my balance. You could be hurt if we fall.”

Because she didn’t want to fall, s
he stayed still until he topped the stairs. “Put me down now. It’s too far to my room.” And she wanted to make the trek to her lonely boudoir on her own.

“It’s not that far.” He opened the basement door and went inside, then kicked the door closed. After walking into his room, he set her feet on the floor. “See? Not that far.”

She blinked. “Oh, but…” She pointed absently toward the stairs. “I was gonna go…” But she didn’t want to.

“Oh, you were gonna sleep in your room?” he asked as he started stripping.

  “Um…” She couldn’t think.

When he was naked before her, he shook his head. “Can’t. Too far away.” Then he reached for her, and began removing what little clothing she had on.

With her undressed, he led her to the bed and held back the covers so she could climb in. She did, and then waited while he fussed in the drawer for him to join her.

When he’d gotten under the blanket, facing her, she asked, “Too far away for what?” If she hadn’t been so sleepy, she’d have known.

He rolled on top of her, hoping she’d ask. “For this.” He slid home.

Evie opened her eyes to bright morning sunlight. She frowned and rolled her head to the other side, wondering what time it was, but she couldn’t see the clock over Drake’s shoulder.

A jolt went through her as she realized she’d slept in his bed.

Nerves went through her. Yes, he wanted her, and he was affectionate toward her, but some guys were weird about a woman ‘sleeping over’. If she had to guess, she’d think Drake was one of those guys.

She stared at his face, so peaceful in sleep, and wondered what she should do. Should she lay there and pretend to be asleep until he woke up, or try to sneak away before he opened his eyes?

Too late, she realized, when he frowned slightly and blinked his eyes open slowly. “I think I felt you staring at me,” he said with a smile and a stretch.

  She blushed. “I’m sorry.”

He grinned, a sleepy, rumpled flash of teeth that made her want to jump him. “Don’t be. It’s not every day I wake up from a great dream and find reality’s better.” He leaned toward her and kissed her softly, calming her nerves. “Hey, pretty girl.”
