“This is Falling River Mountain! The Earth Star Spring must be nearby!” Xiang Shaoyun exclaimed excitedly. Just as he was about to continue rushing towards the Falling River Mountain, he found a group of scouts blocking the path up the mountain. These scouts were all powerful individuals exuding the fierce air of an expert. With their combined strength, dealing with a few Intermediate Demon beasts would be no issue.

“No matter who you are, leave at once! The Mad Lion Hunting Group has laid claim to this mountain!” These scouts had keen senses. The moment one of them detected Xiang Shaoyun’s presence, he immediately shouted a warning.

His voice radiated strength, reaching far and wide while giving off a striking aura. This aura belonged to someone at late-phase Astral Realm. Left with no other option, Xiang Shaoyun backed off slightly.

“It seems like the Mad Lion Hunting Group really is powerful. They can even afford to leave 25 experts to guard the entry. This is going to be troublesome,” Xiang Shaoyun gloomily muttered to himself.

After retreating to a safe distance, Xiang Shaoyun stopped. He was unwilling to give up just like that. Examining his surroundings, he found a sheer cliff that would allow him to reach his destination just the same if he climbed it. Only, this cliff was about 200–300 meters high. If one lost their grip, even an Astral Realm expert would instantly turn into meat paste upon impact.

“Riches are found in the midst of danger! I haven’t seen a cliff that I cannot climb just yet!” After pondering the situation for a while, a determined gaze flashed across Xiang Shaoyun’s eyes. As such, he changed his path and reached the base of the cliff.

“I’ll treat this as life-or-death training!” Xiang Shaoyun gritted his teeth before beginning his ascent.

The steepness of the cliff was hard to describe in words. Luckily, there were jagged edges sticking out here and there, allowing one to scale the cliff. Xiang Shaoyun’s strength was comparable to an Astral Realm cultivator’s, and he also had a robust supply of astral energy. This was enough for him to climb the mountain.

A while later, Xiang Shaoyun had climbed to the 50-meter mark. Both of his hands were bruised to the point they were bleeding, and his clothes were drenched with sweat. Scaling this cliff was not just a physical trial, it was a mental trial as well. If one’s spirit was unable to hold on, the consequences would be disastrous.

“Keep going, keep going…” Xiang Shaoyun panted, revolving the Heaven Conquering Overlord Manual. Astral energy spread through his body as his acupoints lit up, supplying him with energy as he climbed. This allowed him to be like a spider, constantly ascending.

Very quickly, Xiang Shaoyun scaled half the cliff. At this crucial point, a sudden cry pierced the air.

  Screech!

Stopping in his tracks, Xiang Shaoyun turned and saw an eagle beast rushing straight at him.

“Not good, it’s a fiery beak eagle!” Xiang Shaoyun was so startled that he began to slip.

Luckily, with his keen reflexes, he barely managed to claw onto the edge of the cliff, preventing him from sliding down further. However, his body was totally beaten up; any further bruises would have him bleeding profusely. This was when he found that he had an even bigger problem.

He was well over a hundred meters in the air. If he were to fall from that height, he would be falling straight into death’s embrace. At that very moment, the fiery beak eagle began rushing straight towards Xiang Shaoyun, its flaming, red body creating a road of fire in the middle of the air as its flaring eyes stared straight at Xiang Shaoyun, designating him as its lunch.

Completely at a loss, Xiang Shaoyun was on the verge of crying as he muttered to himself, “I never imagined I’d become food for a stupid eagle!”

Just as he was about to give up and descend, Little White on his back let out a roar before leaping straight at the fiery beak eagle.

“Little White!” Xiang Shaoyun shouted in shock, only to find that the little tiger had already landed on the back of the fiery beak eagle.

Chapter 38: This Young Master Will Kill You!

  Roar!

The roar that Little White let out shook the entire surroundings, its ferocity no less than that of an Intermediate Demon beast. Ever since Little White had started following Xiang Shaoyun, this was the first time it had let out such a ferocious roar. Such a roar would force tens of thousands of Minor Demon beasts to submit and drive away Intermediate ones.

Similarly, the fiery beak eagle was startled to the point where its body started to shiver. In the very next moment, Little White bit at the fiery beak eagle. Although Little White was still a mere cub, it was still a tiger at its core, boasting a strong bite. With that, it bit straight into the fiery beak eagle’s flesh.

Crying out in pain, the fiery beak eagle vigorously shook its body, trying to throw Little White off. However, Little White firmly held on with its teeth, refusing to be flung off. Starting to panic, the fiery beak eagle’s wings rippled with hot qi, attempting to force Little White off with its heat.

However, no matter what it did, Little White refused to budge. After constantly trying to get the persistent tiger cub off its back, the fiery beak eagle ended up flying haphazardly and lost its balance, crashing straight into the peak of the mountain. Upon seeing this, Xiang Shaoyun became uncontrollably furious.

“Little White!” Xiang Shaoyun yelled with all the strength he could muster. He began madly ascending the face of the cliff once more. This time, he threw all caution to the wind, choosing to climb as fast as he possibly could even if it cost him his life.

Although Little White was a mere cub, it had gone through thick and thin with Xiang Shaoyun in recent times. To Xiang Shaoyun, he had already regarded the young tiger as a close companion. He definitely did not wish to see anything untoward happening to Little White.

What was initially thought to be a journey of more than two hours was concluded in barely an hour after Xiang Shaoyun chose to speed up. Skipping the process of recovering his energy, he sprinted to the peak of the mountain. Unfortunately for him, not only did he not encounter Little White even after repeated attempts of searching for him, he even came across a python beast that was an Intermediate Demon.

It took Xiang Shaoyun quite a bit of effort before he managed to barely kill off the python. Slicing open the midsection of the python, Xiang Shaoyun removed its gallbladder and swallowed it whole.

The terrible taste of the gallbladder left Xiang Shaoyun feeling horrible. However, he did not have the luxury of time to stop and heal himself. He kept forging on, searching for Little White’s footsteps. Not long after, he chanced upon members of the Mad Lion Hunting Group. Just as he was about to avoid them, the other party spotted his movements.

“And where did you come from? You actually managed to sneak by the group at the bottom of the mountain! Li Hui, go and capture him!” the leader of the party yelled.

“Understood!” the person named Li Hui replied then charged at Xiang Shaoyun, riding on a flaming tiger.

Xiang Shaoyun pushed his Overlord’s Nine Nether Steps to its very limit, running away from the scene as fast as he could. However, the flaming tiger was still an Intermediate Demon. It had a faster speed, and it was closing the gap on Xiang Shaoyun, slowly but surely.

“Brat, I don’t care who you are, but you aren’t escaping from me today!” Li Hui cackled viciously.

Li Hui had clearly reached the peak of second-stage Astral Realm, just short of the third stage by a little. His fighting prowess was immense. As he drew closer to Xiang Shaoyun, he directly leaped off the Flaming Tiger, the huge saber in his hand flying straight at Xiang Shaoyun.

The huge saber boasted tyrannical power, astral energy condensing around its edges as it began to glow. The Overlord’s Nine Nether Steps lived up to its reputation of being a top-tier movement technique. As Xiang Shaoyun’s strength increased, the maximum speed he could deploy correspondingly increased. As such, he tumbled to the right, barely managing to dodge the vicious saber blow. />
  Pow!

A thick tree in front of the duo was instantly obliterated by Li Hui’s saber energy, bursting into smithereens.

“You damned slippery eel!” Li Hui cursed, seeing that his attack had missed Xiang Shaoyun.

“I’m just a passer-by! If you continue chasing me, then I’ll kill you!” Xiang Shaoyun yelled in reply.

“Heheh, if you have the ability to do so, then stop running!” Li Hui madly screeched.

“Then I’ll do just that!” Xiang Shaoyun actually came to a halt, sending a fist straight at Li Hui.

One punch from Xiang Shaoyun carried around 500 kilograms of weight behind it without a single ounce of astral energy supplementing it. This was a telling sign that he was merely a late Basic Realm cultivator.

Li Hui could not help but sneer in disdain at Xiang Shaoyun. He grabbed Xiang Shaoyun’s hand in one fell swoop, preparing to forcefully twist off his arm. Contrary to his expectations, however, he found that he was unable to twist Xiang Shaoyun’s arm off, even after using 70 percent of his full strength!

One must know that 70 percent strength was normally enough to completely rip apart even a peak Basic Realm cultivator. Taking advantage of Li Hui’s carelessness, Xiang Shaoyun’s eyes lit up as he raised his other hand, a ray of finger energy shooting straight at Li Hui.

“Shit!” Li Hui was still a peak second-stage Astral Realm practitioner after all. Upon sensing the danger in the attack, he immediately let go of Xiang Shaoyun and dodged the ray. However, this attack was no more than a feint. Although there was a bit of astral energy imbued into the attack, the amount was almost negligible. Xiang Shaoyun’s real move was hidden behind his feint.

  Cloud Splitting Palm!

Xiang Shaoyun seized upon the opportunity given to him when Li Hui released him, sending a palm with his full strength straight at Li Hui’s chest area. No matter how experienced Li Hui was in combat, he would not be able to dodge this attack from Xiang Shaoyun even if he tried.

  Pa!

After being struck by the attack, Li Hui vomited blood and was flung miserably aside.

  Kill!

Xiang Shaoyun grabbed onto his one and only chance, drawing his Golden Wolf Sword. With a single slash, a golden light filled with astral energy rushed towards Li Hui’s throat, a surefire kill.

Li Hui’s head was lopped off his body, and his expression was frozen in disbelief as his vision slowly turned dark. A lofty, second-stage Astral Realm expert was actually killed by a peak eighth-stage Basic Realm cultivator.

One couldn’t help but think that this was a plot from a child’s tale. Although the Basic Realm cultivator was weaker than his foe, he was not only able to escape but could also galiantly turn around and kill his enemy! A good plot, good development, and finally, a fairytale ending.

  “Roar!”

At that moment, the flaming tiger charged over, opening its mouth wide as it prepared to swallow Xiang Shaoyun whole.

“You’re going to join your master!” Xiang Shaoyun growled, slashing mercilessly with the Golden Wolf Sword.

From afar, the Mad Lion Hunting Group had already taken note of all that had happened. The leader of the party bellowed, “Damn that brat! Quickly capture and bring him to me! I want to thoroughly teach him a lesson!”

Just as more subordinates prepared to give chase, a fearsome roar pierced the air.

  “Roar!”

The roar shook the heavens and the earth, scaring the Mad Lion Hunting Group out of their wits.

“Shit, there’s a large beast here! It’s a king kong giant ape!” A few experts on the mountain began panicking.

Simultaneously, numerous bodies began surrounding the one-meter-tall king kong giant ape. However, this ape possessed an extremely sturdy body; normal attacks would be unable to wound it. Its physical strength was even more overbearing—it continuously leaped at people, its attacks decimating people almost at once.

“Bastard! As long as I, Mad Lion, am around, you shall not run rampant!” bellowed a middle-aged man riding a lion. He wielded a giant sword as he rushed towards the king kong giant ape.

The middle-aged man was actually at the Transformation Realm; every slash he sent carried with it a majestic sword momentum, cutting down trees and grass near the fight.

“Let the brat go for now! Go and support the captain first!” The rest of the Mad Lion Hunting Group members no longer bothered about Xiang Shaoyun. Instead, they rushed forward with their full strength, preparing to surround and kill the king kong giant ape.

Chapter 39: Low-Grade Spirit Medicine: Blood Mushroom King!

With the appearance of the king kong giant ape, Xiang Shaoyun’s danger abruptly came to an end. Xiang Shaoyun did not immediately leave the area. Observing the situation from afar, he watched as both the king kong giant ape and the Mad Lion Hunting Group rampaged, causing tremors spreading over a thousand miles.

The devastating destructive power, simply put, was all the fault of these people. Luckily for Xiang Shaoyun, he had witnessed many powerhouses in the past. Tremors of this scale meant nothing to him.

“This is the perfect time to search for the Earth Star Spring!” Xiang Shaoyun’s expression slowly turned joyful. As such, he began quickly making his way for the mountain peak. Naturally, he wouldn’t be so daring as to directly charge into the middle of all the fighting. Instead, he changed direction, taking another path leading to the springs.

Not long after, Xiang Shaoyun reached the other side of the mountain. However, what he saw was a huge waterfall crashing down right in front of him.

“If I want to get to the Earth Star Spring, do I need to go through this waterfall? That shouldn’t be the case, right?” Xiang Shaoyun pondered to himself.

This waterfall was quite wide. Furthermore, the sheer pressure and speed at which the water rushed down was not something he could think of withstanding even with his body. Just as Xiang Shaoyun was grieving over his conundrum, a sound that made his mood do a 180 turn came from behind him.

  “Meow!”

This was Little White’s trademark meow. The moment Xiang Shaoyun left his daze, he found Little White happily leaping into his embrace.

“Little White, you’re alright! Haha, this is great!” Xiang Shaoyun ecstatically laughed, hugging Little White tightly. After failing to find him after such a long period of time, Xiang Shaoyun thought that something had happened to Little White, leaving him worried sick. After finding out that he was fine, a lot of Xiang Shaoyun’s worries just seemed to fly away.

To Xiang Shaoyun, Little White was worth more than a thousand Earth Star Springs. Leaping out of his embrace, Little White bit firmly onto Xiang Shaoyun’s pants, pointing in a direction with one of his front paws, as if telling Xiang Shaoyun to head in that direction.

Xiang Shaoyun was stunned. After pondering the situation for a while, he felt like he had nothing to lose and went in the direction specified by Little White. The area was filled with wild grass, making it difficult for people to make out where they were heading.

Xiang Shaoyun remained alert, Golden Wolf Sword in hand just in case anything occurred. After a short while, the two of them made it past the tightly clustered grass. Upon examining his surroundings, Xiang Shaoyun found a cave a thin person could barely squeeze into.

This cave was near the edge of the waterfall. Had Little White not been there to lead the way, Xiang Shaoyun would never have noticed its presence. If anybody else had been in Xiang Shaoyun’s shoes, that person would’ve found it difficult to get across. The cave was just too unnoticeable.

“Could there be some sort of amazing treasure here?” On the verge of salivating, Xiang Shaoyun grinned with excitement.

Xiang Shaoyun did not blindly rush in. Instead, he carefully examined the environment around the cave. After confirming that there had not been a monstrous beast there for a long time, he then led Little White into the cave. The floor of the cave was wet and slippery, and numerous flora was growing, showing signs that th
e cave was probably naturally formed.

The cave was pitch-black inside, severely impairing his way forward. Without much consideration, he activated his gift of insight, instantly making the path ahead much more discernible.

“I wonder why I was naturally born with the gifts of visualization and insight. Maybe one day, I’ll cultivate eyes that are able to discern everything!” Xiang Shaoyun cheerfully thought to himself.

Xiang Shaoyun did not think too deeply about the matter but continued to make his way farther into the cave. Inside, he found that the wild grasses were growing rather substantially, and there were even some grasses without any practical use emitting faint medicinal scents. This was a sign that an old medicine was forming. Furthermore, he could feel that the spiritual qi inside the cave was extremely vibrant, as if he had arrived at a paradise on earth.

“Could this possibly be…the location of the Earth Star Spring?!” Xiang Shaoyun could not help exclaiming to himself upon discovering this phenomenon. He had already known long ago that the Earth Star Spring was somewhere around this area. Although the location indicated on the map was not here, it did not mean that the Earth Star Spring was definitely not located here. The cave could be another way leading to the spring!

Just as Xiang Shaoyun was about to quicken his steps, he noticed Little White in a corner furiously trying to dig something out of the ground.

“Little White, in the future, before you eat any old medicines in the future, could you let me have a look first? This is a blood mushroom around 200 years old! It can replenish one’s vitality and has considerable efficacy in healing wounds.” Xiang Shaoyun smiled helplessly as he watched Little White swallow the old medicine.

Before now, he would not have even taken a second glance at old medicines. However, his circumstances were different from in the past. Any random stalk of old medicine was now extremely important to him.

Obeying Xiang Shaoyun’s words, Little White ran forward, digging out yet another old medicine from the ground and bringing it to Xiang Shaoyun.
