She smiled at the memory before a scowl lit her face.
Officer Williams.
His name would forever be imprinted in her brain. The man who tried to tie her up and throw her in a cage. No one could contain this level of intelligence. It was far too much of a waste. It didn’t hurt that she had an ally on the outside. What a shame. Thankfully she realized this before showing her creations to the world and devised a backup plan should things go wrong.
Surprise surprise. Things went wrong.
But she was ready. Although she wasn’t thrilled about living in the woods, she knew it was only temporary. Her animals would protect her until she could clear the country safely and undetected. All it would require was patience. And patience she had. Time would pass but she wouldn’t forget. Oh no. She would never forget. The people who tried to control her and shut down her work would all pay. Then they would all see who was meant to be in charge.
As she walked towards her temporary shelter a glimmer caught the edge of her vision. Taking a step back, she eyed the corner of the forest with caution. The sun peeked out of the clouds causing a ripple to shimmer at the base of the tree. Taking a slow step towards the anomaly, she hesitantly reached her hand towards the movement. She gasped as her hand slipped all the way through, leaving her yanking it back stunned. Inspecting her hand, she realized nothing was wrong with it and glanced back. Being the scientist that she was, she couldn’t in good faith walk away from what could be an incredible discovery. Without thinking twice, she slipped her whole body in the shimmer.
Gwendolyn shivered as she was spit out of the ripple, landing with her hands and knees on a pile of twigs. Glancing up, a slow smile spread across her lips at the view. In front of her eyes was a path leading down and out of the forest. But what really caught her attention was what peeked out from behind the hill all the way down the lane.
A castle.
This would certainly do. It appeared to be a wonderful place to plot her revenge. She would get settled and find a way to get all her pets in undetected and then when the timing was just right, she would strike.
Oh yes. This brought a whole new meaning to the word bow....
