“We have,” Doe nodded with a smile. She glanced over to where Blake and Remy were. They seemed to be applying some very complex science to the barbeque. “Come, you can help me make salads. You’re much better at food things anyway,” Doe said, reaching for Thea’s hand so she could lead them to Remy’s kitchen.

“So that’s why you invited us early,” Thea teased. “You wanted to make the most of our shared culinary skills.” She squeezed Doe’s fingers in hers. She only let go as she passed by Blake. She set a hand in the small of his back to let him know she was there.

The four of them worked companionably. A gentle buzz of anticipation for the party animated their conversation. Looking around Remy’s huge kitchen, listening to him and Blake chirp each other over the barbeque, Thea couldn’t help but feel very satisfied with where her life had taken her.

Wondering where she’d be another year from now, Thea felt the same flutter of excitement that she always felt whenever it came to Blake. Wherever they were, she trusted that Blake would love her - and she would love him - ‘for all the weeks yet to come’, just as he’d promised.
