Carlton listened as Peyton continued to express her satisfaction over Breyonna’s death. He hated to admit it and would never say it out loud, but he felt the same way.

Peyton continued her chatter while Carlton remained quiet. When they finished talking and hung up the phone, he went online and replayed the news conference. As he leaned back in his office chair watching it, a subtle smile appeared on his face.

  Words from the Author

“Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.” Proverbs 15:32

Everything was in turmoil in the lives of the housewives. Being rich could not shield them from problems and trouble. If anything, it may have increased it. Money couldn’t buy or bring happiness. All the riches in the world couldn’t help any of them find what they most longed for – unconditional love, happiness, and acceptance.

So much had happened in the lives of the housewives. Each woman struggled with the decisions they had made, some good and some not so good. They would have to reevaluate their lives and relationships. Their spiritual lives seemed to take a back seat when it came to making wise choices and seeking God’s direction and guidance.

There was still much unfinished business between Meesha and Carlton. She needed to clear her head so she packed up the boys and went to Los Angeles to visit her sister for a few weeks.

Avery was happier than she’d been in a very long time. Carlton promised her that soon they would be able to tell everyone the truth about their relationship. She massaged her belly as she thought about sharing her baby news with the man she loved.

Peyton insisted to anyone who would listen that Meesha was wrong about her and Carlton’s relationship. Peyton’s excessive drinking seemed to escalate even though Breyonna was no longer a threat in her life.

Eva’s dream of getting pregnant had come true but at an extremely high cost. Added to her situation was the recent ultrasound that revealed some startling and unexpected news.

Such was the life of these four friends, “The Real Housewives of Adverse City.” There is much more to learn about them and their drama fueled lives. Being ultra-rich and having the best of everything didn’t keep them from experiencing the mass trials and tribulations of the world. Such is life.

Many times we think that if only we had material wealth and gain then we would somehow be shielded from hardship and hurt. However, that is not the way life works. Money can never bring lasting happiness and complete satisfaction. It may seem like it can, at least for a while, but in reality that is not the case.

Peyton, Meesha, Avery, and Eva will have to learn that their great wealth, their relationships, marriage, all of it is for naught if they do not exercise humbleness, truthfulness, self-control and a reliance on God.

As I continue writing this series about “The Real Housewives of Adverse City,” perhaps these four women will begin to understand that they should seek wisdom and spiritual insight. Only time will tell if they do!

As Billy Graham says, “Comfort and prosperity have never enriched the world as much as adversity has.”
