What is your favorite thing about Stella, the heroine?
Kylie: Stella will do anything to save her family’s vineyard, including daring to tangle with the reclusive mystery man across the road. I love her loyalty to family, her strength, and her ability to look a vamp straight in the face, turn, and freak out just like any normal person would. :p
Mimi: I LOVE how Stella is the quintessential girl next door. It’s really why I asked Kylie to write this story with me. If you’ve read any of Kylie’s books, you know her heroines are smart and funny, but they have a sort of wholesome good nature, too. Even when they’re having steamy sex! If you haven’t read any of her books, then what are you waiting for?
What is your favorite thing about Boz, the hero?
Kylie: I adored watching an eight-hundred-year-old vampire try to adapt to the modern world. Talk about a fish out of water! But also his deep sense of honor and respect for Stella shines through.
Mimi: For me, it’s Boz’s transformation. He starts out as a very unlovable pigheaded male (and it’s super funny), but as we get to know him, we see that he has a good heart. He’s simply not used to showing it!
What’s your favorite line(s) from the book?
Kylie: Here’s Boz talking to his familiar, Neli, in his dignified way:
Neli: “Find some salty old crow to mess with if Stella isn’t the one.”
Boz: “I am not into birds, but I do not judge.”
Birds and squirrels are always funny. Also, not wearing pants.
Mimi: Hands down, the scene where Box tries Stella’s wine. It’s so rude! And so Boz…
He sips and spews the wine back in the glass. “Horse piss!”
I gasp.
He shoves the glass away, grimacing. “Horse piss mixed with putrid fish entrails.”
What makes Boz and Stella’s love unique?
Mimi: I’m a sucker for opposites-attract stories, but that’s probably not so unique when it comes to romance tropes. What makes this couple special is that they really have almost nothing in common. Different centuries, values, family situations, economic circumstances, and life goals. For this romance to work, they really have to want to make the other person happy and get outside their comfort zones.
Kylie: Love-bite orgasm. ’Nuf said.
