“Captain, General Strong wishes to talk with you again, he has a few more questions,” some Lieutenant said.

“Tell General Strong I'm not feeling well something about brass making peoples hearing fussy so they can't seem to hear anything beyond their own menial thoughts of how things should be. If he can't understand that it's a sure bet he won't understand anything else I have to say. As for explaining why the plan General Talbot, Colonel Andrews and I proposed I've already given all the details of why it's better than sending a company of Marines to their death,” I said.

I hoped to be able to wait for Jason and Kenny in the outer office, but it was now apparent the only place I could wait without fear of General Strong finding me and demanding I apologize was back on our base and even that didn't seem likely.

“Captain is everything alright?” Mac asked.

I looked up with a start. This wasn't possible. Mac and Curtis were supposed to be giving my lessons back on base so what were they doing here.

“Mac how? What the hell are you and Curtis doing here?” I asked.

“I'm sorry sir, but I don't think I understand. We're here giving your lessons because you said you had to go with General Talbot to talk to the big brass. I take it you got left behind,” Mac said.

“I'm back on our base?” I asked.

“Sir you're standing right outside your quarters, like you just came out,” Curtis said.

“I think I'm going to go lay down, none of this is making any sense and hopefully when I wake back up I'll find it was all just some sick dream,” I said.

How could I have gotten back to base, had I lost time again? Had something happened and Jason and Kenny sent me back and it was now days later? No that couldn't be what happened, Mac seemed genuinely surprised I was here and I'm sure if I was sent back he would have known about it, so what happened?

I laid down and was again gone in dream.
