But some.
The little things—plants withering in the sun, bugs spinning out their short lives, and eventually, birds, and then, small mammals.
It had been a long time since she had been incorporeal.
But she could bide her time.
She didn’t need to worry about what things she might need to hunt in order to get her strength back up. She simply did it.
She had bigger prey to take care of.
The hunter and the wolf who worked together.
They needed to die.
And she would be there when they did.
With a puff of air, she spun through the desert.
One more prairie dog and she would be ready to move up again.
First to actual wolves. Then to humans.
Again.
And when she was strong—stronger than that stupid little hunter could guess—she would do what was necessary to exact her revenge.
No matter what that took.

You might have noticed that this story was originally marketed as the first full-length Blaize & Wolf story. However, I realized only partway into it that I needed to fill in some gaps to deal with a couple of other issues before I jumped into the big Blaize & Wolf story I have in mind.
