It wasn’t. I knew from that first meeting with Nick that I’d have problems here in regards to that.

“That’s a little outside of my remit. But honestly, I have to agree with you. You’ll get past me, but Nick would be the guy you’d need to convince.”

I gave him a little smile. “I figured as much.”

  “What will you do?”

“Cole offered me a job. I’m gonna check that out and see if they accept my craziness and flights of fancy.” I laughed

“You did good Laila. You really did and I’m proud of you.” He beamed. That was the first time he’d ever said that to me.

  “It means a lot.”

  It did.

Now it was time to do more to make myself proud of me.

Cole came over later that day.

I practically skipped into his arms and kissed him.

“Oh I definitely like this.” He grinned.

“I have an answer for you.”

“To which question? I have several—ones I’ve asked and ones I haven’t asked.”

I laughed. “It’s yes to everything. That should cover it. Yes, I accept the job and ice cream with you whenever I want it.”

He kissed me and smiled down at me. “That’s the best news ever. It’s gonna be great.”

I nodded, agreeing. “I think so.”

I had a feeling that everything was going to be great.

  Perfect, even.

What else could it be when you had the perfect guy?

  Two years later…

“Let me guess, newlyweds?” the receptionist at The Bellagio asked with a bright smile as we approached the desk.

Cole gave her a brighter smile. “It turns out I am that lucky. But we’ve been married for the last sixteen months.”

I snuggled against him when he slipped his arm around my waist.

“I think that still counts as newlyweds. You guys have the look.”

  “Thank you,” I told her.

“We have the penthouse suite booked for Mr. and Mrs. Dawson,” Cole said and my skin tingled with excitement the same as it did that day ten years ago.

Ten years had flown by, so much had happened.

Good and bad, but we’d returned and I was his. I was here as his wife with a different kind of bucket list.

The receptionist handed Cole the swipe card. “Enjoy your stay.”

“We absolutely will,” Cole answered, and took my hand.

The start of our enjoyment began when we stepped in the elevator as his lips came crashing down on mine. We devoured each other on the way up and all but fell into the bed when we entered the suite.

We stayed in that bed for hours and I had to pull myself away from him to get the few minutes I needed to share the list with him.

“Baby, every minute is one minute away from that bed. Brain power is being drained away from these lists of yours,” he teased, sitting opposite me on the long leather sofa.

“I have a special list for you.” I giggled.

“Is it a list of things you want me to do to that fine body of yours?”

I laughed; my husband was going to drive me crazy. It was the good kind of crazy so I was in a perpetual bubble of bliss. Especially when he looked at me like that with his body on display, shirtless with just his boxers on. He looked like he just stepped out of a fantasy.

“Could be,” I cooed and handed him the list.

He looked at it and narrowed his eyes. “Number one, make a follow-up appointment with the doctor. Number two, renovate the spare room. Number three, ask Ryan and Paige if they preferred for their baby to sleep in a crib or a Moses basket.” He looked at me, confused, but continued. “Number four…based on what they say, go baby shopping for our baby. Our baby…” His voice trailed off and he stared at the list in his hands for a few seconds before he looked to me, tears brimming in his eyes. “Baby?”

“Yeah…I’m five weeks pregnant.” I told him, and my heart lifted when a tear slid down his cheek.

  “Laila, really? For real? Us?”

He cupped my face when I nodded. “Yes, us.”

  “We’ll have two kids?”

That was what made me love him even more, even when being told he was about to have his own child he still thought of my Peter as his. Ours.

I nodded and he pulled me in for a hug. A hug close to his heart that was beating so wild and rapidly.

“I love you baby,” he whispered into my ear and I leaned up to kiss him.

  “I love you too.”

I wished we could stay like this forever.

  My dream came true.

All my dreams came true, all because of this guy.

  My rebel.

  My love.

  My Cole Dawson.
